Tirla was enjoying the crisp, clear air. A light dusting of snow reflected the sunlight and set the whole world to shining. The wind was chill, but calm and she loved flying enough that the cold didn't bother her.
A swoop and loop and laugh of joy ruffled her feathers as she soared high over the ground. Even with her goggles, Tirla often closed her eyes as she flew, loving the feel of air rushing past, secure in the knowledge that she was far above any obstacles.

Aras flew through the air, wings beating heavily to keep himself up and to keep his temperature regulated. The snow was light enough that he could see clearly ahead of him; but it still bothered him to fly in such conditions. He didn't fly often enough to be confident in his ability.
The wind blew soft and steady and he shivered as it carried a flurry of wet snow and cold over him. The wind carried something else.. The sound of.. Laughter? He looked down below him. Ocean still and he could not see any kelpi or mers splashing about. That meant someone else was in the air with him.
Aras flapped his wings harder, flying faster in the direction of the sound. He hadn't seen another soquili for a few days now and he was going a little stir crazy. Ahead he saw her; a mare twirling and doing loops in the air. Despite the cold; she seemed rather happy. He stopped, wings flapping to keep himself in the air. "It's nice to know someone enjoys this weather," he called out with a smile.

Tirla looked about, grin bright, for the source of the voice. Spotting the stallion, "Oh, hello!" she seemed born to fly, minimal movements of wings needed to close the distance between them as she rode the thermals raising from the ocean.
"It is beautiful out. The world is made new with the snow. How can you not enjoy it? Bright and beautiful and shining and wonderful and full of opportunities for grand adventures! Or just the simplicity or meeting new friends. I'm Tirla." She sailed the wind like she was born in the air. The joy in her voice and her countenance unmistakable. And just as obvious was the friendliness of her greeting.

Aras couldn't help but smile at the mare; her happiness infectious. "You forgot to mention the freezing cold," his body shivered, emphasizing his point. "And the fact that I can find barely any soquili to sing to." He pouted at his last statement. Contact with others was important for Aras. He needed it to feel like his life had meaning; a purpose. Spreading music. That was what he lived for; what he was born for. Without soquili to spread music to he began to feel like he was wasting his time on the world.
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Aras smiled at the mare once more. "My name is Aras. I must say it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Your cheeriness is refreshing."

Tirla laughs, "Cold is just a passing sensation. It reminds us we are alive and invites us to enjoy that life to the fullest. It is good to meet you as well Aras. Would you like some help finding soquili to sing to?" She offers openly.
The adventure of finding another soquili should be well worth the time. Tirla loved adventures and adventuring with someone else was even more fun. That he might want to sing to her never even crosses her mind.

Aras thought about it for a moment. She did have a point. But none the less, he couldn't forgive the winter for taking away his interactions with others. A harsh mistress she was, indeed.
Aras stared at the mare for a moment. She wanted to help him find someone to sing for rather than he sing to her? He blinked a few times before shaking his head. Maybe she didn't like singing. That possibility confused him and he wondered who in the world wouldn't like singing.
"You can help me if you wish. Though I'm not entirely sure where to start."

Tirla thinks about it. "I'm not sure where to start either. Where do you usually find someone to sing to? I don't really know much of anything about singing. What kind of Soquili do you like singing to?"
Tirla looked around, trying to spot any other Soquili. In this white world it should be fairly easy to spot any but hide but a white one. Singing sounded like a good enough reason to be adventuring, but he Aras didn't seem much in the mood for an adventure. Tirla wondered if she should take up singing or something like it, to have an excuse to adventure more.

Aras smiled at Tirla, happy she was going to stick around and keep him company. He was certain they wouldn't find anyone, but the thought was what counted in the end. At least, that's what his mother had always told him.
"I don't really have any preferences. If someone is willing to listen, I'm willing to sing." He smiled, it was true. He had sung to a number of sorts of different breeds and backgrounds. He'd sung to the poor and nobility, pure and those of questionable alliances. Things like that mattered not to Aras. They were his audience; all he cared about was whether or not his singing made them happy.

Tirla, not spotting anyone, flies higher, hoping that altitude with give her enough distance that she could spot someone. Not seeing anyone, she returns to Aras. "I don't see anyone. We can keep flying, but it seems the cold and snow is keeping everyone in whatever dens they could find."
She drifts along, keeping pace with the stallion. "Is it fun to sing? Do you like it or is it something you have to do?" Tirla is interested, wondering if it is something that could be right for her as well.

Aras watched as Tirla flew away, wondering where she was going. He tilted his head as she spoke, wondering why she thought she'd be able to see someone from way up there. Then again, he wasn't used to flying so she probably knew a lot better than he did.
"I didn't think we'd find anyone." Aras flapped his wings, arching in the air with one big swoop. He stopped in front of Tirla again, wings moving slowly and steadily to keep him from plumeting to the ground.
"I love to sing. I've always sung. It was something my mother taught to me. She had the most amazing voice." He smiled fondly, thinking of all the times his mother used to sing to him when he was a child. "What about you, Tirla? Do you sing?"

Tirla shakes her head. "I have never sung. I only know of birds who sing. And though I have feathers, I am no bird. And I am not certain my voice could match theirs. Their songs are high and sweet, but much thinner than my own voice."
"I have always been drawn to exploring, to finding new things and peoples. The skies call to me. They beckon me new places. I have spent little time away from the skies to learn of any such things as singing."

Aras grinned. "Then it appears we are opposites. I rarely fly, unless it's to travel over the waters or to give my wings a stretch. It's hard to meet others in the skies; you're the first I've met, truth be told."
A flap of his wings, lifting him high for a moment before he lowered back down. "I'm sure if you sung you'd enjoy it. I've never met anyone who didn't like singing. It makes traveling more enjoyable, that's for certain."
On days when Aras was traveling by himself, he often sung to pass the time, making up new songs, learning ones he'd been told or simply re-singing songs that reminded him of fond memories. It made his days more pleasant when they were filled with tunes of love and adventure; mind filled with happy memories.

Tirla shrugs. It is an odd thing that causes her to drop about five feet as she stops flapping her wings to do so. The loss of altitude doesn't seem to bother her and she quickly regains her place near Aras quickly.
"Perhaps I would. But I don't know how I would have the breath for it. The air is so thin when you soar high. And that is the most exhilarating thing! I suppose I wouldn't mind trying, though."

Aras almost called out when she fell the few feet, sucking it back in just in time as she rose back to hover at his side. His heart beat fast and he let out a sigh of relief. It was very clear she was a gifted flier; unlike he. He felt a little bad, wasting his wings like he did. But then he remembered why he didn't fly as often and any thoughts as such were tossed aside.
"You'll never know if you're good at something if you don't try. But I will not force you to try, especially if you think it'll be so dangerous so high."
It was true, they were up quite high. Perhaps finding a safe place to land would be a good idea if she wanted to try to sing.[
