Application Concept Your Name: Teigra Pae'il's Name: Eligor Breed: Demon Gender: Male Suggested Power: Summon Holy Beast - summons a creature made of holy light to fight for him; being made of holy light, it may also burn the 'unholy' (AKA: anyone not aligned with the Guardians and the Light)Weaknesses - The creature's shape is determined by whichever Guardian he most closely identifies himself with, and he cannot choose its shape consciously. He can only summon the one creature, and any attacks that manage to be inflicted upon it, he feels the same pain.Weapon of Choice: Magical staff Personality: Calm and stoic, Eligor does not allow himself to give in to his emotions. He remains collected, even when provoked, and prefers to reason things out rather than blow off the handle. He seeks to further his magical studies whenever possible, as he privately pursues his dream of becoming a great mystical master. This still comes secondary to his duties for the Guardians, but as long as he can pursue both at the same time, then what's the harm? Merits: 1. Diligent - Eligor throws himself into his training and his research. He's not one for slacking or lazing about, and any tasks set before him will take priority over his personal desires. 2. Studious - Eligor is a quick learner, but he never stops reaching or assumes that he knows enough. The pursuit of knowledge is a lifelong quest, and he will never rest until he is forced to by death. 3. Cautious - Not one to take risks unnecessarily, Eligor weighs all of his options before taking action. He would never put himself at risk, or his companions, without reason. Best to be safe and live to fight another day, rather than throw your life away for nothing.
Flaws: 1. Indecisive - In times of crisis, Eligor's caution could be taken as a liability. He weighs every option before making a decision, but unfortunately, that sometimes only makes the decision harder to make. He takes so much time in deciding, that sometimes precious time is lost. 2. Distant - More interested in books and his magic studies than in socializing, Eligor has always had problems connecting to the others on a personal level. He keeps his distance from them for the most part, which is sometimes misinterpretted as being anti-social, but in reality, he sometimes just gets so tied up in his studies, he forgets how to communicate with others. Other times, he views them as a distraction from some important work, and consciously distances himself from them in order to concentrate on his work. 3. Arrogant - His expansive book knowledge and magical skills have given Eligor a sense of entitlement. He sees himself above his peers, as he is the more serious, more studious one, and therefore most deserving of the lot.
Likes: Hot tea, especially a nice earl grey; quiet afternoons; old library books, especially magical tomes; cherry scones Dislikes: Loud, raucous Pae; uncivilized behavior; rash decisions; physical contact, especially of the violent sort Fears: Spiders; library fires (oh, those poor books); any possible loss of his magical blessings. Goals: To persue his studies of the arcane arts in hope of perfecting his magical conjuring skills; to hurry up and take care of this dreadful 'heathen' business, so that when all worship the Guardians faithfully, he can settle down and build his own library of magical knowledge somewhere that also has a nice supply of tea. Character Behavior: For the most part, Eligor keeps to himself and can be found with a book, either reading, or practicing some new spell he's found. While he does not seek them out, if approached by the others, he is welcoming enough, as long as they don't interrupt him in the middle of casting some new spell. As a seeker of knowledge, he is always happy to share what he has learned with anyone who expresses interest, or to aid another in their own studies. Brief History: Eligor's parents were devout, Guardian-fearing demons, and when the fairies came and identified their newborn son as being one of the chosen, marked by the Guardians, they were honored to offer him to the fairies for training. He's not seen them since then, and he doesn't have any memories of them, as he was too young at the time. At first, he was displeased with being lumped together with the other children, as they all behaved far too roughly and crudely for his tastes. However, after the fairies had time to observe them and begin to understand their personal preferences, they introduced him to the library and its vast trove of knowledge. It was love at first sight. Since then, Eligor has taken advantage of this valuable resource as much as possible, between their lessons with the fairy trainers. Questions: (answer in-character please)While growing up, did you get along with the other kids? - Yes and no. As long as they left me alone and out of their rough, childish games, we got along well enough, I suppose. I had no interest in rolling about in the dirt. What is your earliest memory? - Well, my earliest, favorite memory...after I'd been introduced to the other children and the fairies had observed us for a while, they noticed I prefered the quiet over the loudness of the others. One of them took me aside and asked if I'd like to go somewhere else for a while. I figured it had to be better than that place, whatever sort of place it might be, so I said yes. They showed me the library and immediately I began browsing the shelves. I found a book on Beginner's Charms. The pages were old, but the smell...ah, I'll never forget the smell or texture of those pages, nor the introductory wisdom within. Are you an optimistic or pessimistic? - Depends on the situation. I try to be optimistic, but in some cases, you just have to be realistic; you can't lie and just...make things better. Do you have any annoying quirks, mannerisms, or habits? What are they? - Annoying? I don't think so. I mean, I take tea in the afternoon without fail...one must keep to a schedule, you know. And habits? Well, the only thing I can think I might do that some might find annoying is my intense displeasure at being disrupted in the midst of trying some new magic. It's annoying to be interrupted like that, and one has a right to be upset. But if I'm trying something that could have dire results if I'm mistaken, well...it's in both mine and the other person's interest that I not be distracted, so if it takes a little rudeness to get that point across, I think it's justified, don't you? Name the one fairy that had the most influence on you while growing up. What was it they did? (You can make up the fairy) - Archmage Tansa, easily. She's been a wonderful teacher, a wealth of knowledge, and a powerful mage. I've learned much from her and thanks to her guidance, I've set out on my own personal journey on the path of the mage. In your opinion, what is the worst thing any creature could do? - Burning books. [He glares at the wall intently.] Once that knowledge is lost, it can never be replaced. It's a treasure, destroyed. What a horrible, disgraceful act. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? - Well, I can't say that the phenomenon has been documented, though the side effects of such a thing can sometimes be considered evident. Perhaps it's the same as magic. Magic itself cannot be seen or touched or documented, but we see it in the effects that it has from our spells and our evokings, altering and affecting the world around us. This is how we know it exists. Perhaps, in that light, then soul mates and true love may exist in the same manner. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? - Do you have any biases or prejudices? - Ugh, ruffians and the uncouth. Seriously, does it take that much effort to act civilized? Those damnable heathens are the worst. Calling themselves 'Ancients' and cavorting about in the wilderness like wild things. Ugh. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? - Anything that might hinder the quest for knowledge, either for myself or others. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? - I'm not sure anyone can really answer this question accurately without having experienced this sort of situation...and that's not to guarantee that one would be able to answer the question if they HAD. Hmm...I'd only be guessing really, and that's not reliable or accurate, but if you really want me to, I can try. I do have a duty to do, so...I suppose, if my orders from the Guardians led to such a response, I might. Probably. I mean, nothing against the Guardians, of course. It's just such a permanent decision, and if something were to go wrong, well, I wouldn't be much good to them anymore. If there was something still that I needed to do, well, it would take some serious consideration. What do you do to unwind? - Ah, a quiet evening, sitting outside, listening to the crickets and sipping a cup of tea. How serene. Of course, a good cup of tea any time of the day does wonders. Pick ONE of these prompts to respond to: (please limit responses to 1000 words or less)"Your training has to be kept a secret from all pae'il. On your first outing to see the rest of the island, you meet another Teen Pae. Its a Faerie Pae and he starts talking about a some top-secret activity going on in the now-closed Telrunya City. How do you dispel those rumors?"Eligor emerged from the teleport pad, glanced around the area, and paused as he sensed the magic of the teleporter being shut off from the other side. The fairies would re-open it later so that he could return to the City, but for now, he was out for his first outing to the Isle. He was eager to explore, but also wary. He was a cautious individual, not a fool. He started with the area around the telepad, investigating the local flora, identifying a few that he'd seen in alchemic textbooks, but never in real life.
The sun had moved a few degrees in the sky by the time Eligor's investigations turned to the surrounding area. The forest seemed serene, if not actually quiet. He could hear signs of various animals about, even if he couldn't see them. He was careful, prepared for any trouble, even if the locals were likely harmless. Speaking of locals, however...
There was a foreign sort of sound off to Eli's left, like an animal that didn't quite belong in the area. Clumsy, plodding footsteps...the snap of a twig... Staff in hand, Eli turned to greet whatever was coming his way, readying a quick evoking spell for protection if needed.
It wasn't.
He eyed the Fae teen that emerged from the trees curiously, having never seen one in person before. The teen looked up and blinked at the demon, then smiled warmly, raising an arm in greeting. "Well met, friend! Hey, have you noticed anything...unusual...going on out here today?" Eli paused, returning the gesture, but only with his arm, not his expression, which was set stoically neutral. "Unusual? What exactly do you mean by unusual?" He was on guard, if for no other reason than he was always on guard in new situations. The teen male shrugged, gesturing up briefly towards the trees overhead. "I dunno. I could have sworn I saw lights and stuff earlier through the canopy, and I've heard rumors that something might be going on up in the floating City. You heard anything, or seen anything out here today? Maybe the fairies are up to something," he muttered, voicing aloud his train of thought as it wandered. Eli frowned slightly, thinking fast. This was bad; he knew that the goings-on in the City were supposed to remain secret, and that no one here could know that he had come from there only earlier today. No, he had to dissuade this Pae's curiosity, but at the same time, how to do so? "No, I haven't seen or heard anything like that," he started, shaking his head as in genuine confusion, then a look of realization crossed his face. It would seem as if he'd come to a realization regarding what the teen had seen, but really, he'd just come up with a way to diffuse the situation while steering the fae in a different direction.
"Oh wait, you said you saw lights, right?" He waited for the Fae to nod. He seemed enthusiastic, expecting this demon to justify the strange things that he had seen with some fantastic tale. No such luck, or at least, likely not what he'd been expecting. "Oh, yeah...sorry, that was probably me." Eli completed the look by putting on a sheepish grin and reaching up to rub the back of his neck. "See, I was sorta' practicing and my power is light-based, so... Err, I could just show you if that'd help?"The Fae stared, then seemed a bit disappointed at first, then forced a smile and a shrug instead. "Really? Shame; thought something cool might have been going on up there. Yeah, so...what is it that you do, anyway?" Convinced that he had the teen's attention, Eli smiled. "I'll show you." He closed his eyes in concentration, then focusing his thoughts, steered them towards making the summoning process as flashy and elaborate as possible. Better to explain and to impress the Fae in his distraction plan. Light gathered around the demon, growing brighter and brighter, before drawing away from him to hover at his side, intensifying all the while...
In a few moments, a feline-creature made of light, larger than an average housecat, but still smaller than any wild cat, stretched and straightened at the demon's side. Smirking at the Fae's slack-jawed stare, the demon casually commented, "Meet my companion. My familiar."

Guardian_Iris Congratulations Teigra !
Eligor was among the special Angel and Demon Pae'il who were born with the Mark of the Guardians and the special gold-spiral eyes of the Chosen Ones.
He has been raised since infancy by the fairies in Telrunya City with more love, tenderness, care, security and discipline than any Pae'il could ever hope for. He been educated since childhood, but now that he is a teenager, his destiny has been revealed and training should start immediately.
Eligor has the spirit of a powerful and fierce warrior. The Guardians will be training him -- via their proxy fairies -- and providing tests to find only the strongest of their former Holy Army to rise up again to be their champions.
Powers Holy Knights belong in their own power class, which draws directly upon the Guardians' powers. The class is called Holy Light. The color of their magic is a brilliant and blinding white, with pale yellow glow.
Each Knight will have these base powers:Cleanse - a spell to cleanse taint, but with limits. - Note: A pae can only fully cleanse another pae that is one stage (or more) younger. In order to cleanse beasts or Pae'il of equal age (same stage), they have to weaken them first by battling. Players of tainted Pae'il do have the right to refuse cleansing. Holy Aegis - a self-protecting shield that will deflect one attack per battle. If the attacker is a stage older, it will only deflect half the damage. Light Lance - a sharp and focused beam of light that can be fired from a weapon and pierce magical barriers. It will harm whoever is behind the barrier, but not destroy the barrier. It will take all Holy Knight's concentrating their Light Lance together to weaken a magical barrier enough to break through. (as adults. Teens are half-strength) Pure Light - a simple healing spell that will heal minor damage and restore some energy. Can be used on anyone, and will act as a damaging spell if cast on a member of the Dark faction.
In addition to those abilities, Eligor will have the ability Summon Holy Beast. He can summon a creature made of holy light to fight for him; being made of holy light, it may also burn the 'unholy' (AKA: anyone not aligned with the Guardians and the Light) Weaknesses - The creature's shape is determined by whichever Guardian he most closely identifies himself with, and he cannot choose its shape consciously. He can only summon the one creature, and any attacks that manage to be inflicted upon it, he feels the same pain.
Congratulations on being chosen for this most amazing and special opportunity!
Signed, Iris, Official Messenger to the Guardians
