Author Comments Due to November being scorpion month, I thought a short story about a tale with a scorpion would be nice, so here is the story about Artemis and Orion. One day the virgin goddess Artemis was hunting in the woods with her hounds, when she met the mortal Orion, a beautiful hunter. She and Orion became good friends and spent their summer together, hunting together, telling each other stories and challenges. They quickly grew close. Artemis's brother Apollo noticed the closeness and grew angry about it, fearing that Orion would take his sister's virginity. One night after Orion angered him by comparing the god to himself, he sent a scorpion into the hunter's dream. When Orion awoke he had to fight the same scorpion but he couldn't kill it. On the same day, Apollo tricked his sister into thinking that Orion was a man who had raped Opos, one of Artemis's followers. She grew angry and killed Orion. When she found out she had been tricked she tried to have him revived but it was futile. She put his body into the stars as a tribute to their friendship. Note from koudelkaW: As the current Divination writer is busy, we have used an old article. This article was written by Magyc7 for the December 2007 newspaper Pendulum Dowsing Written by Magyc7.
Pendulum dowsing is a form of divination that uses a weight attached to a string or chain to tap into your unconscious connection to the universe and read energy patterns. You can use pendulum dowsing for just about any question. The pendulum only answers yes or no questions. Asking how to be a better person just won’t work. Instead, ask if volunteering for a retirement home would make you a better person.
History The pendulum has been used for many, many of years. Ancient Egyptians used it to choose the best locations for growing crops. In Rome it was used in a plot against their emperor. Pendulums have also been used to find water and even locate underground tunnels and hidden mines in times of war. Nowadays they are mostly used for fortune telling and personal discovery.
Choosing a Pendulum When choosing a pendulum, the most important thing is that it feels right. A crystal pendulum will have its own natural energy and symmetrical pendulums have better balance. You can find many different pendulum types in New Age shops. If you can’t buy one, you can always make your own pendulum. Just tie a paper clip or a ring on the end of a piece of thread.
How Does It Work? Cosmic energy causes your muscles to make tiny movements, without your conscious self realizing them. The pendulum will make this communication from the universe easier to read by amplifying these tiny muscle movements into something you can see and understand. Whatever question you ask, an answer will come form your subconscious self. Be very honest with yourself and try to be totally objective or the answer may be influenced by wishful thinking or emotional involvement.
How to Use Your Pendulum 1. Sit down at a table and rest your elbow on it. Only your elbow should be on the table! 2. Hold the thread’s end lightly between your thumb and first finger. Let the pendulum hang about a foot (30 cm) in front of you or what ever length feels comfortable. 3. If your feet or legs are crossed, uncross them because this blocks the flow of energy. 4. There are 4 different swings: backwards and forwards, side to side, a clockwise circle, and a counterclockwise circle. One movement will mean ‘yes’, one will mean ‘no’, one will mean ‘maybe’, and one will mean ‘ask again later’. These swings are not the same for everybody. Ask which response means ‘yes’. Your pendulum will move in the direction that will signify ‘yes’. Repeat for all other answers. 5. Check the validity of the swing by asking a question you already know the answer to. If the answer is wrong, re-do step 4 and make sure you’re not accidentally trying to move it in a certain direction. Once validity is confirmed, you can ask questions that you don’t know the answers to and have fun.
Uses - Finding an object - Predicting the future - Testing a relationship - Self-knowledge and improvement - Be creative! The possibilities are almost endless!

Note from koudelkaW: As the current Gods & Goddesses writer is busy, we have used an old article. This article was written by dark_angel_32189 for the January 2008 newspaper
Aphrodite is one of the twelve Olympian gods in Greek Mythology. She is the equivalent to Inanna to the Sumerians, Astarte to the Syro-Palestinians, Turan to the Etruscans, and Venus to the Romans. She is the Goddess of love, beauty, the joy of physical love, sensuality, passion, generosity, all forms of partnerships and relationships, affection, fertility, continued creation, and renewal. She is often depicted as being a beautiful, volumptuos woman with blue eyes and fair hair. The love of women, in any form, was very sacred to her.
There are several stories of how she was born. One of the more common ones that is told is that she was "foam-born". It is said that she was born near Paphos, Cyprus after Cronos cut off Uranus' testicles and threw them into the sea. It is said that after a long length in time a white foam started to form from the immortal flesh, bringing the birth of a girl, later to be known as Aphrodite.
Aphrodite was unhappily married to Hephaestus and was frequently unfaithful to him. She often sought out the companionship of Ares (Hephaestus' brother) and Adonis, as well as many other mortal and divine lovers. Thanks to Zeus' ruling, Aphrodite had to share Adonis with Persephone. Adonis was ruled to spend one-third of the year by himself, another third with Persephone, and the remaining third with Aphrodite.
Symbols: Heron, loverbird, swan, dove, her girdle, cockle shells, poppy, rose, golden apples, sweet fragrances and fruits, and pomegranate.
Hephaestus (equivalent to Vulcan to the Romans) was a magician of metal and gems for the Olympians. Some of the things he made include a scepter and aegis for Zeus, and armor for Achilles and Memnon. It is believed that his workshops were located under the Earth in places such as Mount Etna in Sicily, and Mount Mosychlos, which was the place that was most sacred to him. Due to the large number of pottery-makers and metal-workers in Athens a festival called Chalkeia was held in October to honor him. He is often depicted with having broad shoulders and wearing a leather apron while leaning on a great staff. He is the God of blacksmiths, metalworkers, thunder, lightning, fire, subterranean fires, volcanoes, industry, artisans, craftsmen, jewelry making, mechanics, micro electronics, manual dexterity, hard work, inventiveness, all creative crafts, engineering, and building construction.
