Fav. Food: Kail has a thing for gummy bears. He doesn't like the texture of most sweets, but he adores gummy bears, snakes and other such confectionery. He also likes soup. And cucumber sandwiches. He's a fan of anything mild and smooth.

Hated Food: Couscous. He hates the stuff. It's texture is abysmal, and that's without even mentioning the taste. He also despises spicy things with an intense passion - even the slightest hint of chili makes his eyes water.

Robotics

Kail is part of the Robotics club at the academy. In other words, he's good. He's well...not 'passionate' about his work, but he does get very obsessive about it and enjoys it. He particularly enjoys detailed, small-scale work rather than big flashy work, which works well because the rest of the club can do the flashy bits and Kail will make the fine-tuning bits that make it work really well and win prizes. He does obsess over robots very easily, and will often be found in the workshop when he should be sleeping. He's not a genius at it, but he does have a natural talent and flair for it, which his dad has encouraged and supported, being a robotics engineer himself, which lends him another advantage over others his age.

Reading

First off, he barely ever reads fiction, and he never reads romance novels. He just thinks they're pointless. However, he does enjoy steampunk and science-fiction novels because they're often related to robotics and they make him get the warm fuzzies inside that maybe one day he'll be able to do that. Generally, however, he likes to read big thick science textbooks or medical journals, or if he's at home, he'll peruse his dad's bookshelf to find robotics theories he can understand at least vaguely. Often he doesn't understand what he's reading until he goes through it several times, but that doesn't bother him, he's happy to sit there as long as it needs. He likes to be able to use long words and know lots of (entirely pointless) scientific facts. This also contributes to the fact he's a giant swot at school.

Virtues:

Logical
Kail is very logical. When other people are letting emotions get in the way, he'll be the one saying - no, that won't work. This makes him excellent at subjects such as science, maths and robotics, but lets him down in arts and music - however, he, nor his school, have any interest in those areas, so that's fine. He often proposes solutions that are very out-of-the-box, but when he does propose solutions, they almost always work. He usually takes a long time to suggest something because he likes to have worked through all the flaws first.

Honest
Kail is honest. If you ask him if your butt looks big in a dress, he'll answer that he has no opinion on the matter and it doesn't look any bigger or smaller than usual. Ask him a question about something he doesn't know and he'll say that he doesn't, he won't try and blag his way through. Ask him for a solution to a problem and he'll suggest one, complete with the percentage accuracy of it working. Ask him for help and he'll ask you how long it will take and what you need doing, and then compare it with his timetable and see if he has time. He hasn't got a bone of deceit in him, because he just doesn't see the point. If you say 'no, you can't use that part' - he'll ask why, and try and get you to trade for it or ask where you bought it, but he would never take it, or borrow a tool without permission.

Focused

When Kail does something, he does ONLY that something. This leads to him having high standards in everything he does, especially in his academic studies - in fact, the only thing that trumps his grades is his robots. If he can't do a task, he'll leave it, research it, and then pile straight back into it. He abhors quitters, and will not leave something until it's done. This applies only however, to anything he deems 'useful' or 'worthwhile' - academic studies, robotics, favors, a new invention - if you asked him to learn the flute he wouldn't do it because it's pointless.

Flaws:

Touchy -Feely - Lack of Boundaries

It's perfectly natural to touch people. The thing is, Kail doesn't understand when touching goes from friendly to creepy, or how it's not appropriate to hold hands with people you've just met, or run your hands over their faces. If he's told not to, he won't - but unless told, he won't pick up the clues in behaviour or body language that say no. He doesn't mean anything by it usually, he just likes touching things, scoping them out with his hands. He takes great comfort in touch.

Socially Inept

Kail is a dunce when it comes to socialising. Robotics? Sure, great! Maths? Yes, he can help with that! Essays? Absolutely, it's just a writing technique. Romance problems? .....Uhhh...bring her flowers? Oh, it's a boy? Uhh...bring him manly flowers? He doesn't get out much, and is anxious around people most of the time, so his social skills are incredibly sub-par. He's the nerd that hangs in the library, not the scholar who's cool and has ladies swooning when he pushes his glasses up. He's also very bad at social clues - if someone laughs, they think it's funny. If they smile, they're happy. That's logical. He's not very emotional, and is often confused and hurt by emotional outbursts.

Tunnel Vision

'Lost in a Book' - a popular phrase. However, for Kail it is incredibly true. Whether reading, writing an essay, doing homework - he has to finish that before he can do anything else. This often presents problems such as forgetting to eat, missing appointments, arriving late to lessons...he's generally quite tardy because he often underestimates how long it will take him to do a task and he really HATES leaving things unfinished. He also gets extremely shirty if somebody takes something he hadn't finished with.

Other Stuff

Good with his Hands

Kail often goes on and on about the texture of things. His hands are well-manicured and moisturised, and oddly for an aspiring engineer, clean and very soft. Why? Because growing up, he often needed to use his hands to find details his eyes couldn't see. Whilst now, that's much better, he's still a very tactile person. His school uniform is much softer than other peoples because he washed it repeatedly, he buys things because they feel good - his bedroom is full of soft, silky, fluffy cushions, and he has one of those fabric-sample books in a corner. When he gets stressed, his favourite thing to do is run through it.

Partially-sighted

When he was born, Kail was early by several weeks. As well as probably causing his diminutive height, it gave him problems growing up, and he had to have several corrective surgeries on his vision. He's doing much better now, but you'll often find him wearing a thick pair of glasses when he's doing anything fiddly like reading, writing or robotics....okay, so pretty much all the time. They're Coke-bottle glasses, and he doesn't really care that they're uncool - the POINT is, they help him see better. In general, he doesn't wear them though, because he might not CARE....but rude comments are still hurtful. This often leads to him overlooking small details though, and makes it hard to him to remember faces. He wears them consistently at school, however.

Appearance

Defining Features
The first thing people tend to notice about Kail is his height - or, rather, the lack of it. Kail is extremely stunted for his age, and combined with his baby-face, is often mistaken for far younger than he actually is. It's debatable that his premature-birth is partially responsible for this - or, you know, the fact that he eats like a bird and doesn't excercise too much could be part of it too. When last measured, Kail stood at 61 inches - or 5'1.

Hair
The second thing people notice is probably his hair. Kail's hair is soft and downy, but that's not why they notice. They notice, because Kail's hair is pink. Unusual hair colours are far from strange in Destiny City - in fact, just walking down the street you could probably make a rainbow, but the fact remains that Kail's hair colour is still unusual - especially as he hasn't dyed it another colour, being a boy and all.

Eyes
If people manage to get past the height and his hair, they'll find a direct gaze, courtesy of bright-green eyes, looking at them. Often hidden behind ridicolously huge glasses, Kail's eyes are nevertheless an incredibly luminous shade of green, pretty as they are slightly strange.

Face/Skin
Kail's face is a baby face. Plumpish cheeks and a small chin lend to his appearance being younger than he is. Combined with his large eyes, especially when accentuated by glasses, the overwhelming reaction to him is CUTE - you know, until he starts being a little weird. His skin is a pale yellow shade, unusual when compared to the rest of his family, another trait from his mother.

Fashion
....wait......what?
Kail's sense of fashion is - if it's comfy, warm, it feels good and it's cheap? That'll do. Or, if he's with his mother - if it's comfy, warm and it feels good and mother is not making a face. His wardrobe is a strange mish-mash of charity-shop castoffs when he's with his father, or up-to-date high-fashion if he's with his mother, who treats him a little like a doll.

Nervous Tics

When nervous, Kail has certain repetitive motions he does. At home, he'll sit and flick through a fabric book. Out and about, he'll find somewhere to sit and curl his knees to his chest, then recite scientific formula. If he's in the middle of a conversation, he might either end it abruptly and go to do this, or he might tap times-tables on his leg, or rub a particularly soft/nice-feeling fabric in his fingers.

Jacket-Coat -- Stupidly Long-sleeved jacket (Sleeve Ref), short military/side fastened body jacket fastened with little wires please. Gears/Wires sleeve tips should be secondary. High/Military collar. Single large gear marking on shoulder (Secondary). When he goes up stages, adding cat-claws to the end of the sleeves would be really cool, or expanding the robotics motif.

Weapon

Lieutenant

A stuffed toy - specifically a cat, big, black and fluffy with little cyan eyes and white plastic claws. Kail is not going to do much...if...any...damage with this. The most he can do is whack someone with it to create a distraction- and all that's likely to do is open him up for an attack himself. It's a pretty big and hefty stuffed toy though.....so maybe if he swung it REALLY hard?

Captain

That poor stuffed toy! Where's it's body gone? The arms of the stuffed toy are now strapped to Kail's sleeves, and the claws have become stronger, it looks like.

*At this level, the claws are mostly-blunt plastic - scrapes or scratches at the very best, but bruising is much more likely. Never any blood unless he attacked a pre-existing wound.

General

That fur looks...different. Stronger. Almost...reflective? It seems to have hardened - like a guard. And those claws are looking kind of menacing.

*At this level, the claws are sharp plastic. Scrapes and scratches are very likely, and if he gets in a particularly good shot it might draw blood - but it would never cause anything past a scraping/dragging cut.

*The fur along the arms has hardened a little, allowing him to use it as a guard - it's about the rigidity of thin aliminium - enough to deflect a blow, but taking one straight on would render it useless.

Other Information!

When married, his parents moved around Europe, so Kail speaks numerous european languages from passable to fluent.

He spent the most time in Spain and Italy, but has also visited most of Western Europe.

After the divorce his dad continued this moving for a while before it became too financially taxing (Kail doesn't know this). He took a large sum of money from Kail's mother in exchange for an amendment to the custody agreement so she had regular access - this both required them to move to Destiny City, and gave his father a boatload of guilt issues.
