Hey guys! So this is an OOC discussion thread for Knights of Etherea. Yeah.
I would like to make the first topic of discussion the possible reboot/restart of Etherea. I've said this before, so many times - personally, I would love an entire reboot of Etherea. I've got some ideas for changing the setup of the thread (which I can put in place without a reboot, sure) but I also have some ideas regarding the setting and story, that I think might be interesting to put in place.
But what I'd like to know first though, is how do you guys feel about the relationship (regarding the flow of the roleplay) between Earth and Etherea?
Myself, I love the idea of the Knights balancing their waking life with their sleeping life - just like superheroes! But I also think it makes a lot of interactions difficult. Nightmares can't really appear at will on Earth unless they're strong enough - or have found some sort of bridge between the two worlds. And the Knights can't all just fall asleep at the same time and all go to Etherea together. At least, not yet.
So I have a proposal. The rebooting option I'd like to go through with involves three major changes - first, the thread would change. There would be a new thread, with a new layout and some pretty graphics.
Second, the characters would change. Some people left, and some people stepped out of the roleplay, so there's actually a few slots open. Even the slot for my character - Memory - is open. Not that I want to quit my own roleplay, but this is my first year in college, and I don't really have a routine yet that balances homework and roleplaying. Until I can sort my stuff out, I don't think it's fair to you other roleplayers that you have to constantly wait and wait for an extremely major character to post. So, in this proposed reboot, I would not be playing a major character, and for the majority of the story I would be in a purely DM position - running the story, reviewing characters, but not actually playing a character.
Third, as much as I love the potential dynamic between Earth and Etherea, I would like to reorient the focus of the story on Etherea. It's a little hard for me to put into words. I wouldn't be ignoring Earth, but I would prefer if the roleplay happened more on Etherea, and less on Earth, at least in the first few scenes. I think it's a good way to flash out Etherea as a place, and will make interaction with the Nightmares (and thus, conflict) much easier to come by.
So yeah. That's what I have to say. Do you guys agree or disagree? Some of you have a lot more experience than I do with running roleplays, so some input would be good to hear.

I agree that it would probably be best to focus on Etherea first, just to keep everyone in the same place. But I would enjoy doing some scenes on 'earth' when not in the dreamworld, just because it's kinda fun not being evil then. >.>
Probably should cement down if all the Knights know each other, and if they knew Thought and Memory too.

I second the 'some scenes on 'Earth'' statement, but in a way that... Maybe we focus on Etherea first, and once (and if the Knights don't stop it first) the Nightmares escape to Earth, we can slowly move over there...
Plus, I half also developed my character so he may be used in both realms, as a possible plot pawn, or anything otherwise...

I think focusing on Etheria first would also allow us to establish a bit more about the characters, especially about how they interact. The malleability of Etherea gives some room to maneuver. Establishing the knights' presence on Earth can be done when the Nightmares escape there.
I agree with Panpear, there ought to be some way that the Knights know each other or can otherwise be connected in some way. The random collection of people who just "happen" to be in the same place seems unwieldy and unlikely unless drawn there for a specific purpose (ex. in response to a Nightmare attack).

Ruined Horizon redo-revamp-restart . . . re something. regurgitate emotion_awesome Anyway I aggree with all of this really. Though I like my character as she is so I'm pretty much set to jump into whatever comes around lol. Thinking about it a little, quite a lot of series use a lot of action or drama in the first episode to intice viewers to watch the rest of the series, so... How about starting with a battle? Or a conflict of some sort at least? maybe even a meeting of the knights that had been planned so that they could discuss what to do about whatever? emotion_c8
