 Plot Starts: now! Plot Ends: October 9thFinale: October 16th
Disaster has, yet again, struck the Mwezi'Johari. On the night of the full moon, the shaman, Shira, and her apprentice, Miakoda, have gone missing. Thoth and Baba'Nyota are quick to set up a search party with the a handful of guards while Khathelela and Selene handle questions and concerns at home. After three days, the king and guards return with nothing and the pride is called together so the queen can officially address the issue:
Neither Shira nor Miakoda would simply abandon the pride or their duties, something must have happened to them. Because they played such a vital role, the pride can't wait for them to return. They must be assumed dead and a new shaman must be appointed as soon as possible. Selene, the heiress who has recently reached an age where she can take on some responsibility, is put in charge of interviewing pride members who are interested in becoming shaman.

NOTES
- Some liberties have been taken with inactive characters to give IC support to their demotions. Situations were considered carefully and care has been taken to make it reasonable for the character based on what I know about them. If you own one of the characters and have a problem with or question about how their demotion is being justified then you are free to PM me and we can talk about it.
- This plot will continue as planned with or without participation. Open applications will close on appropriate Saturdays at 11:59PM EST and what happens next will be announced every Sunday, regardless of how much RP has been done.

Week 5 - Full Moon
The Historian has been chosen: Aapep
The Head Hunter has been chosen: Hyousa
Angani decides to step down as rogue guard to allow a new guard to take his place. Baba'nyota is asked to name a replacement by the next new moon.
Fuu is finally initiated into the pride as the first official task given to the new shaman. He doesn't even sleep through the night, awakening into the high class. He is named a Lord and almost immediately, a wedding for him and Selene under the next full moon is planned.
Life settles down once again. While there is much to be excited about, mainly more royal births and a wedding, the inter-class conflicts and paranoia linger.
Next Week - A replacement Rogue Guard will be named, giving you one week to apply, and the raffle will be rolled, giving you an additional week to start and/or wrap up plot-related RPs!

Past Events
Introduction - Full Moon
Shira and Miakoda go missing.
Three days later, they are assumed deceased and the hunt for a new shaman begins.
Selene, with some guidance from her mother, is assigned the task of finding a new shaman.
Week 1 - Waning Gibbous Moon (approx 3 days after disappearance)
Rumors spread and general panic consumes the pride. There is much speculation about why the Great Lion has, apparently, abandoned them. After all, the Shaman disappeared under a full moon.
As Selene begins conducting interviews with Shaman applicants, she brings along a slave and personal friend, Mazin. Rumors have already been going around about a possible romance between them.
Without a Shaman, rogues cannot be initiated and joining closes.
Week 2 - Waxing Gibbous Moon (approx 3 days before New Moon)
The dominant opinion around the pride, particularly with the higher classes, appears to be that there is a strong lack of respect for the class system.
Mitsuki and Ukene have a very public disagreement about Selene and Mazin. Mitsuki calls Selene out for boldly courting a low class male when she ought to choose a more suitable mate, especially considering recent events, and condemns Mazin for his apparent lack of respect for those above him. Ukene defends Selene and her son. Mitsuki steps down as Midwife in protest, declaring that the pride is headed for more trouble if things continue as they are.
Tension between classes increase. Upenzi is looked to for ceremonial guidance by those hoping to regain favor with the Great Lion or draw his attention back to them, though not without some hesitation from those who side with Mitsuki over Ukene in their fight.
Selene stops taking Mazin with her to interviews but is still seen around with him.
Week 3 - New Moon - Panic and paranoia peak, the king and queen are forced to act on a number of issues
Njiru is demoted from Head Hunter for past and present borderline blasphemous behavior. His mate, Sini'ngozi, defends him and is suspected of being trouble herself. She is also demoted from Historian.
Ukene is forced to step down as Midwife as more and more of the pride side with Mitsuki. This leaves the pride with no midwives.
Upenzi, who has become increasingly important, is asked to select an apprentice.
Selene is forced to break it off with Mazin in a moderately public scene.
A prince from the Tianxia, Fuu, is welcomed to the pride by the royal family. He is mostly seen around with them while he becomes a more familiar face in the pride.
Khathelela and Thoth officially announce that the queen is pregnant again, putting pressure on the hunt for a midwife.
Aysu, a lower-middle class huntress, also comes forward. After a meeting with a rogue, she is also pregnant.
Week 4 - Full Moon
The New Shaman has been chosen: Stellaluna - one of few applicants, Stellaluna is certainly a change from the type of Shaman everybody is familiar with. Despite her questionable lineage, having slaves as the two generations above her, including Unyezi, Selene especially has confidence in her appointment.
The New Midwives have been chosen: Caritas & Hagryphus - the only two applicants to take over for the midwives in the midst of the continuing drama that caused the previous priests to step down. While there are questions about their lineage, where Caritas shared the same story as Stellaluna and Hagryphus is a former rogue and unknown, the decision was made that their personalities and attitudes were well suited to the post and they ought to be given their fair chance.
Training of the new Shaman begins. Khathelela, Thoth, Fafnir and Selene make up the major part of the group training Stellaluna, though other pride members are invited to share the knowledge they have. Unyezi, despite being the most knowledgeable lion left in the pride on this topic now, is forced to stay out of training the new shaman as he gains increasing disfavor with the pride as having had a part in starting the mess they are all in with his marriage to a slave.
The issue of the Shaman's apprentice is finally officially addressed. The first female in the next high class litter to be born will be named the Shaman's Apprentice. Anybody who is good at keeping track of these sorts of things would notice there is a good chance that the apprentice will be born to the king and queen.
Training of the new midwives begins with help from experienced females in the pride.
Suddenly, it seems like Selene and Fuu are seen all over the place together.
Week 5 - New Moon
The Host Apprentice has been chosen: Ptolemy - with no applicants to become Upenzi's apprentice, Selene has made a choice among the suitable candidates. Her brother is high class, and still young, an apparent trend in apprentices and her best guess at why there was a lack of applicants. His opinion on his appointment isn't known, though he doesn't seem very cheerful starting out.
As everything is pieced back together and the pride acts more carefully and respectfully, the second new moon since the disappearance of Shira and Miakoda is less chaotic but tension is still high.
Upenzi, with the help of her new apprentice, Ptolemy, hold a ceremony meant to maintain the spirituality and safety of the pride even while the Great Lion is asleep. This promises to be a regular occurrence from now on!

Promotion ApplicationsGeneral Information
Priority will be given to players who do not already have a lion in a specialized rank, but that is not all that matters.
All applications must include one plot-related RP for that character. It can be as simple as discussing recent goings-on with another pride member.
It is assumed all applicants are interviewed by Selene.
One lion can apply for multiple positions, but it'd be nice if each application had different RPs. Please don't take back applications just to use the RP for something else, though.
Don't let age/gender requirements limit you to applying if you have a character who would challenge these prerequisites ICly. They may have less of a chance but you can always say they tried!
OOC: Minimum activity level really is just a presence in SoA, don't let a lack of RP stop you from applying!

Personality: Very soft spoken and quiet. She is very much like her mother used to be in her old pride, shy and quiet. But she has a kindness to her that she is known for. Very understanding and caring, she often worries about silly things.

Any Connection to Royalty or Priests? Yes. Her father is Ulivuma. Ulivuma's father is Unyezi, Unyezi is Khathelela's brother.
Why do they want to be Shaman? She wants to be able to offer something to her pride. She took the rank of huntress rather than lady as she felt that she owed more to her people than that. After a suggestion from her father, she decided to try and see if maybe she could fill the role and provide her pride with a new Shaman.
If male, do they understand they cannot marry under high class or divorce if it is marriage placing them in the high class? N/A

Personality: This lioness looks, at first glance, like the average high class privileged girl, doing the minimal amount of work necessary to have a rank other than Lady. She also appears to know and care nothing about what's going on in the pride. That facade is deceptive, however, and conceals a deep-seated resentment for how the class system sets the lower against the higher. She believes that there is no reason why those who are blessed by the Great Lion should be seen as better than those who are not and wants to see the pride as a whole agree with her one day soon.

Any notes on family or reputation? Unyezi's granddaughter, related to people in a lot of different classes, etc.
Why do they want to be Midwife? She wants to be able to tell the expecting mothers that there is absolutely nothing wrong with their children being born under a particular phase of the moon.
She also enjoys not having to work much or often.

Personality: A modest sort of lioness, Haggy can be shy about her looks at first, but will open up over time. She's happy to socialize with anyone and anyone, from the slaves up to the king and queen, treating everybody the same. She's very aware of her size, and prefers trying to use it as a source of comfort - Like a large hot water bottle or stuffed animal. Due to having MANY half-siblings, and being around many cubs growing up, she has patience with others, especially younger ones.

Any notes on family or reputation? She's well aware that her lack of any relation to anybody may weigh against her, but she's willing to try anything. So far she has no real reputation, other than being happy to talk to anybody.
Why do they want to be Midwife? Haggy wants to do more than just sit and be a pretty thing to look at. She wants to have a purpose and a function within the pride.
