Disgaea (魔界戦記ディスガイア Makai Senki Disugaia?, lit. "Hell Chronicles Disgaea") is a video game series of tactical role-playing games created and developed by Nippon Ichi. The series debuted in Japan on January 30, 2003, with Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, later re-released as Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness and Disgaea DS. One of Nippon Ichi's most popular franchises, it has branched off into both a Manga and Anime series. The Disgaea games take place in a fictional universe called the Netherworld and are known for their uncommon RPG elements, such as complex gameplay, extremely high maximum stats and humorous dialogue. Main characters in the series often include cynical, power-hungry antiheroes forced to fight alongside heroic foils, much to their disdain. The Disgaea series has sold 1.6 million games as of Q1 2010. Is it me, or does this series not receive it's due? I mean, each game is funny, crazy, creative, and has hours of gameplay. And the existing fans are so devoted for a reason (Me included)! Is anyone else a fan? What do you think of the upcoming fourth game?

Nippon Ichi Software is very underrated. Disgaea is one of the great games that doesn't get enough attention. Trinity Universe is a a brilliant game. I borrowed it from a friend and I want my own copy of it. All the games are colourful, fast-paced and vibrant.

Well, I just acquired the fourth game (Premium ed., so I got the figurine, dood), and I have to say that it's certainly entertaining. After all, the main character is a vampire with an obsession with sardines. Sardines. Heheheee, I can't wait to see how good this game will get... Although my family already think I'm nuts for buying such a strange game...

I loved these games with it's (seemingly) infinite room for leveling up! Though I don't have a PS3, so I can't play the third and fourth, but I've played the first two for both the PS2, and the PSP. 3nodding I got so hooked on the first. xD

Do you need to get the first couple games to enjoy the others? I was thinking about getting the fourth one since I saw it at Best Buy the other day....... Need a second opinion!

DragnGuy7 Do you need to get the first couple games to enjoy the others? I was thinking about getting the fourth one since I saw it at Best Buy the other day....... Need a second opinion! I found the second one to be the best out of the first three series. The characters, gameplay, and just overall appeal I think is much higher than 1 or 3. I think it might be a good idea to play each one, but I don't think its really vital. I also haven't played the 4th, so I can't comment on if its good or not.

Found Afternoon of Darkness in the Used PSP section at Gamestop today! I'm giving it a try since it was only like $10.
