 This arena within the mist village was constructed recently specifically for the testing of shinobi ability, battlefield comprehension, and strategic maneuvers. Here is where most civil spars will take place, and where shinobi can test each other in mutual combat. There is plenty of seating for viewing any match that may occur here, and it is often encouraged that others watch.

Without warning, Yamatano ripped his scarf from his neck, casting it into the morning mist as he drew his curving red daggers. "...I am ready to accept my punishment."

"We are the culmination of every choice we have ever made..."Slowing his pace as he reached the entrance to the arena, Kaizen took a deep breath as he listened to the dull buzz of the crowd. It was strange how familiar this felt, just a few years ago Kaizen had come to an arena just like this to participate in the chuunin exams. But at the same time, the opponent he was facing today was on an entirely different level. Winning against the Pride of the Mist would be next to impossible, but he would prove to Luo that he was more than capable of protecting his home. With a nod of his head, as if to reassure himself that he could do this, Kaizen began his walk down the long corridor leading into the arena proper.
Stepping out onto the tiled field of the arena, Kaizen glanced at Yamatano as he stood in front of Luo, noting that he no longer wore his usual red scarf. Clearly his friend was just as serious about this as he was, the real question was, how were they going to fight an opponent that new almost every facet of their abilities, when they themselves knew so little of their opponent. As he thought about it for a moment though, a small smile spread over Kaizen's face, I do have that technique though... no one knows about my journey to Mount Fenerus. As Kaizen cast his stark-white gaze on Luo however, the man standing completely at ease, he realized that even that wouldn't be enough, not by itself. This fight would take everything Kaizen and Yamatano could muster, and even if they gave it their all, there would be no guarantees.
Stopping beside Yamatano, Kaizen shot his friend a quick glance before turning his attention back to Luo. Lifting his hands to his chest, forming a fist with his left hand and placing it in the palm of the other, Kaizen bowed to the Mizukage as he said in a humble tone, I am ready, Mizukage-dono. With that Kaizen fell into a defensive stance, feet apart, legs bent at the knees, and held his hand over the hilt of Oni Koutai."... but sometimes, the right choice isn't always clear."

He bowed fully to both of them separately. In its own right, it symbolized that this was a civil and mutual spar. The crowd of shinobi simply fell silent, both in awe of the action, and to simply observe the battle. As he rose, he noticed they had taken defensive stances and sighed. He usually didn't like to begin things, but he wanted to get this very much underway.
Taking out two kunai (one in each hand), he threw them in a cross pattern as his arms crossed over each other as he let them go. However, it was then that he burst forward. Truth was, Luo was quite capable of reaching the speed of his throw, and even surpassing it. He closed the gap between the two factions in almost an instant, an open palm attempting to strike the ribcage of both boys, his body coiled in a crouch between the two. His only threat so far would be the daggers in Yama's hands however, the palm smack was given with enough concussive force to send the boys five feet and slide a possible three more. However, the energy of the palm was redistributed by Luo, having arched each hand so that only the end of the palm and the tips of the fingers made contact.
The force would be enough to bruise, but no more than that. It was simply a starting strike, or rather Luo's way of firing the starting gun.

The strike at his ribcage sent Yamatano stumbling backwards, somehow keeping his footing as he steadied himself again. "Such speed.....Lord Mizukage will show no mercy. I can't allow him to choose the method of attack." The boy thought as he made a small cut on his right thumb with his dagger, in preparation for what was to come. At that, Yamatano did something that made more than one audience member stare at him in a "wtf" type of disbelief: he resheathed his daggers. Even more staggering, Yamatano then charged at the Mizukage, his own renowned speed not even close to matching that of Luo. Knowing that the entire audience- and perhaps, even Luo himself- thought he had a death wish, Yamatano continued to run, palms open to allow for the quick release of his hidden blade. Right now, Yamatano had to base his strategy off the possibility that Luo did not yet know of his blades; a risky strategy at best, but against an opponent like the Mizukage, such risks were necessary. He only hoped that Kaizen was able to compliment his own fighting style.

"We are the culmination of every choice we have ever made..."As Luo bowed towards the two of them, Kaizen blinked in surprise, he had certainly not expected to be greeted as an equal on the field of battle, not by the Mizukage himself. But As Luo came out of his bow, already on the attack, Kai immediately regained his composure, already drawing his katana from its sheath as Luo's kunai sailed towards him. But even before Luo's weapons got close enough for Kai to deflect them, the Mizukage himself was standing between the two of them, open palm sailing towards their respective mid-sections. Too slow to properly defend himself, Kaizen flew several feet away from Luo, but as he did so he was already planning his counter-attack. Eye's shifting to the color of lightning as it pierces the night sky, Kai pumped chakra down the length of his blade, causing electricity to run down the length of the weapon.
As Kaizen's feet touched ground, he immediately fell into a crouch, free hand on the ground, weapon held out to the side. Tensing his muscles, time seemed to slow to crawl for just a moment, then in a burst of speed, Kai launched himself towards the Mizukage, his blade a blur of lightning and steel as it slashed ahead of him. As Yamatano rushed in from one side, Kai would close in from the other, hopefully catching the Mizukage in a deadly vice. When Kai got close enough to strike, he would strike first at Luo's calf, then thigh, then kidney, all the way up the mountain to the Mizukage's throat. With the electricity arcing around the blade, even if Luo managed to block every attack, he would at the very least receive a nasty shock. But even as these thoughts ran through Kai's head, he knew that if anyone could get out of the situation, then Luo most certainly could. The real question was, how would he counter."... but sometimes, the right choice isn't always clear." As they began, his kunai found their place on either side of him in the tile. Luo pondered Yamatano's open-handed method of attack and couldn't gather what he was going to do. As for Kaizen, it was a bit easier to see that he had every intention of shocking the man. He didn't really want to use any jutsu just yet in the spar, and he just as well didn't want to unsheathe either of his weapons. So, instead he jumped straight up into the air and threw four senbon down.
Out of the four, two were bell senbon created to distract the opponent's sense of sound, and two were normal. Luo paired one bell senbon with one normal one in each hand and tossed the duo at each opponent. The bell senbon each sailed past the left shoulder of Kaizen, and the right of Yamatano. The normal ones however, were launched straight at the next foot each chuunin was to take their next step with. If their movement speed remained the same, the senbon would puncture the end of their shinobi issued boots, and go straight through to the tile on the ground, stopping each one in their tracks for a short moment before they inevitably pulled it out.
However, this attack served another purpose as well. In Kaizen's next step towards where Luo would have been, he had no doubt that he was going to swing. And now that Luo had moved, that swing would be a great threat to Yamatano, especially the electricity which coursed around Kaizen's weapon. And as Luo would come down, he flipped in the air and twisted his body so that he was facing Kaizen, his right leg outstretched in an axe kick that had enough force to break bone. Since Luo's boots had thick rubber soles, he didn't worry about the possibility of a sword parry that would shock him. What the boys had up their sleeves though, he couldn't grasp, but he was definitely interested to see.

Through his peripheral vision, Yamatano caught sight of a long, extremely thin piece of metal with something round attached to it, probably one of the Mizukage's senbon that he was so fond of using. But how had the Mizukage missed Yamatano, an approaching target, with a senbon, which he was supposedly so proficient in that the Oinin themselves could not match him.
Yamatano answered his own question straightaway as he felt a sharp, burning pain enter his foot: Another senbon, caught near the front of the foot, between the big and second toe. Grimacing, Yamatano looked over to Kaizen, and more importantly, Kaizen's beautiful sword that was set on a path to lop his head off. Even worse, the Mizukage began to descend from above, an Axe kick directed at Kaizen. Yamatano crouched on the ground, watching as the Mizukage descended, waiting until he finally descended to their level before Yamatano shot his arm straight upward, towards the upper part of the mizukage's calf. But more importantly, as he shot his arm forward, Yamatano's Hidden Wristblade came out of it's sheath, its full eight inches protruding from the base of his wrist. The word 'Duty' was clearly inscribed on the metal, a constant reminder to Yamatano of the use of his terrible, powerful weapons. As his arm shot forth, Yamatano felt his muscles all along his body tense, redoubling the pain within his foot. For now, he could do nothing but push through, but the temptation to pull the senbon out grew steadily in his mind.

As the clone appeared it made a stirrup with its hands, which Kai immediately stepped onto to be launched into the air to meet Luo as he brought his leg down to strike Kaizen. Lifting his blade so that it would meet with the Mizukage's leg, Kai suddenly felt a sharp pain in his shoulder, the senbon intended to nail his foot to the ground. While it was most certainly painful though, the senbon wouldn't keep him from slicing through Luo's leg if he wasn't careful."... but sometimes, the right choice isn't always clear." Flipping and landing a few yards away, Luo yanked at a spool or wire in one of his pockets, tying the end to the opening on the bottom of his kunai. Cutting the wire from the spool, he wrapped it around his left wrist and tucked it between his fingers to remain unseen when he punched. The distraction of Yama and Kaizen's imminent collision gave him enough time to perform this action unnoticed, and he suspected even Kaizen's clone would have to help in stopping the collision between the two. It was at this moment that Luo released some of his chakra into the air.
At first it seeped out of every pore like midnight blue strings wavering in the air. Then, the strings seemed to grow wider and wider as they seemed to begin to meld together into one all encompassing form around his body. Still, it wasn't a full display. The aura around him only circumvented the man in a radius of two feet, hardly his full output. Dust and debris were kicked up and blown a few feet away from where he stood, and his body seemed as relaxed as ever. There was then a release of chakra in the form of a ring from his body that rocketed out and seemed to stabilize the initial release he had put forth as he muttered, "Boys, I suggest you give me everything you've got now. I have no time to play keep away with you two, so come at me with all you've got. Remember to coordinate attacks, let your ally's weakness be your strength and take care not to be used against each other in combat. Now, try again."

The edges of Yamatano's vision began to blur as the pain threatened to overwhelm him, but the metal eventually came free, thankfully not caught on a bone. Turning back to the Mizukage, Yamatano said not at word as he berated them for not giving their all. Rather, Yamatano simply made a chain of five handseals- a rare thing for a shinobi who prized his ability to use most jutsu without seals- Slammed his right hand on the ground, and cried "Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"
As the smoke cleared, the audience gaped at the enormous, coal-black Kyodaija. Not that anyone could see he was black, for the top of his body was covered in ten enormous square plates of armor, the headpiece bearing a long spike, seven foot metal spike. Yamatano stood next to the spike, left arm around it, right arm extended, Hidden Blade extended once more. "YEEEEEHAAAAAW!" The giant snake, Baselin by name, yelled as he charged at luo without warning, head spike aimed forward. As Baselin charged, Yamatano leaped into the air, poised to strike from above. If he jumped, Luo would have to avoid Yamatano's strike. If not, he would be dealing with an enormous, armor clad snake. Yamatano was interested as to how Kaizen would fit in with his attack.

"We are the culmination of every choice we have ever made..."Eyes widening in amazement, Kaizen marveled at the skill of the Mizukage, moving with perfect precision, and making it look like child's play. As Luo's heel hit the back of Kai's head, it was all Kaizen could do to twist his body and catch himself with his free hand to flip to his feet. As Kai hit the ground his clone immediately jumped to his side, drawing its blade and holding it out in front of itself defensively, placing itself between Luo and Kaizen himself. Standing with his blade held out to the side, Kaizen simply nodded at Luo's words. He was a fool to have held back that which he had worked so hard to receive, this was no ordinary opponent, holding back would guarantee defeat.
Lifting his blade above his head, Kai slashed at the air behind him, slinging off the strings of electricity arcing along his blade to flicker away. "As you know well, Lord Mizukage, I had been gone for some time before the day of the festival," Kai said, his voice calm and steady as he placed his left thumb on the edge of his blade, "I was foolish to think that I would be able to hide what I had learned from you today." Drawing his blade across his thumb, Kai made a small cut on his thumb, just deep enough to draw blood before performing five very familiar hand-seals and then lifted his hand into the air before crying out, "Kuchiyose no Jutsu!" As Kai's hand struck the ground, a prismatic, spinning ring flared up around him as kanji spread out from his thumb on the ground, before a plume of smoke hid him from view.
A fierce growling could be heard as the smoke drifted away to reveal a massive jet black wolf, fangs bared, wearing spike studded leather armor. Standing with his sword on his shoulder, and his free hand on his waist, Kaizen simply smiled before saying, "allow me to introduce Rahu, the fierce battle-master of the Ookami." And with that the wolf dashed forward, moving at incredible speeds to intercept the Mizukage if he avoided the more direct approach of the armored Baselin.
As Rahu ran to cut off retreat on Baselin's left, Kaizen dashed to the other side of baselin, eye's turning a deep emerald green in preparation for his next technique. While Rahu cut off escape for Luo to his right, Kaizen would defend the left, and hopefully Yamatano would be able to support the three of them from the rear."... but sometimes, the right choice isn't always clear." He looked at the snake and held a hand out as it began to charge and they seemed to make their advance all at once. Water molecules began to bubble forth in a spherical fashion and quickly. A ball began to rapidly materialize and it was clear that there were waves crashing continuously around the sphere as his finger popped open into an open palm and the ball rocketed off towards the snake. As it went, it seemed to continue gathering water as Luo's chakra trailed behind it for a faint moment before disappearing . He had only charged it to a jounin level attack, and it was dangerous enough to rip through steel and send the summon flying.
However, he knew that there was a summon coming from one side, Kaizen on the other, and Yama over him. However, the Tsunami-Tama bought him time to do what he wanted. He simply stood and waited patiently for them to come forth, his eyes scanning each opponent as he watched the pupils of Kaizen change to green, taking note of the element to come. It was going to be interesting at last it seemed; interesting indeed.
Tsunami Tama no-jutsu (Tsunami Sphere Jutsu) E-S Rank: From academy level until chuunin level, a source of water is needed for this jutsu. This jutsu creates a sphere of water that cascades like the sea during a tsunami. It requires a medium level of chakra to pull the water and hold the large amount of pressurized water in ball form. When it hits a person, if controlled and kept together, it can cut the person's skin, and at jounin level can even rip through steel like torrential water. If let go on contact, or at a distance, it explodes, sending the person spiraling backwards or upwards. It sends them flying ten feet with minor wounds at academy level, at genin it breaks bones (1-4 max), and at chunin it rips flesh. Once again at jounin level, it can even rip/slice through steel like torrential water. At Kage/Sannin level it is capable of ripping through crystals as strong as diamond like butter. Can hurt both ninja severely if other ninja uses Raiton: Raikou Kousen no Jutsu (Lightning Release: Lightning Beam Technique). Must have learned Mizu Soujuu (Water Manipulation) in the academy to use this technique.

To Baselin, it was just one more object he would have to smash out of the way. Baselin had trained his nerves to the point of being all but fearless, and trusted in his ability to smash and impale anything that stood in his way. And if this little ball of water thought it would stop the living battering ram known as Baselin, it had another thing coming.
Or, so the snake thought.
As he met the ball of water head on, the two- Jutsu and snake- seemed to stop for a split-second as Baselin suddenly found himself fighting the power of a tsunami. For all his forward momentum, for all his thick armor, and for all his bravado, Baselin could not beat the jutsu. The large snake was blown backwards, the headplate of his armor destroyed and bits of metal stuck in his scales, but other than that and the collision itself, was more or less ok. "Ooogah..." The snake moaned as he shook the dizziness and pain off.
Yamatano, however, simply closed in as Lord Luo performed his jutsu. Like an eagle swooping down on a mouse, Yamatano continued to descend, Hidden Blade poised to strike the Mizukage in his chest. He knew he could no longer afford to strike at non vitals, like a shoulder or a calf; Yamatano had to fight for real, while trusting that Lord Luo would not be seriously hurt. He also had to trust that Lord Luo did not seriously hurt him, but Yamatano did not want to think about that at the moment.
