Vovo grew up in an impoverished village called Stäubenverg in southwestern Germany where children relied on dust, sticks and their imaginations to keep them entertained. He was not gifted with an exceptionally good childhood, even by Stäubenverg's standards. His mother died during her first childbirth (Vovo) and his father abandoned him around a year after his birth. His father was in an emotional wreck due to his wife's passing, and because of it he lost his job and had to leave the country to find easier work. In his eyes, Vovo was the cause of his wife's death, and he couldn't stand looking at the baby. When his father left the country, Vovo was left on the doorstep of the Vorliebe family, due to Mr. and Mrs. Vorliebe widely being known to want a child but unable to produce one. The child was left without a note or a name, nor the identity of the child's real parents, so the couple dubbed the child Hagan Vorliebe, "Hagan" being a traditional family name for the Vorliebes. Vovo grew up going to school at the Stäubenverg schoolhouse, learning basic mathematics, manners, English and German, as well as keeping tight friendships with local children to keep close something emulating a real family. At the age of eight, Vovo's "parents" became very ill with a rather harsh sickness, probably a form of influenza, that ultimately took their lives after weeks of starvation and dehydration due to vomiting and the like. The whole village was touched by this sickness, and the disease took not only Vovo's parents but some of his dear friends as well. Vovo stopped attending school and disappeared for some time.
It is unknown how Vovo ended up as a butler, but at the age of about fifteen, he was exactly that. He wished to be involved with a family atmosphere again, always longing the sense of belonging that a family brings. He found work out of the country, far away from Stäubenverg, with a family of nobility. Vovo served the Laverionne family, taking special care of the two year old child named Astara. Officially, the family called him "Mr. Vorliebe", but young Astara's words were still forming at this time and she could not say the whole name, instead electing to call him a repetition of the first sound in his last name, "Vovo". Vovo's extended time with the girl caused him to become accustomed to the name, and he eventually introduced himself as such.
When Astara left the household of her parents some ten years later, naturally Vovo followed her, and he currently resides with Astara in her new home.
