Bekkou Island
Bekkou Island is a deserted island, known only for its complete lack of resources. Rumor has it that this island is only an island because an absolutely gigantic sea turtle died and got stuck there. The island additionally is only accessible underwater, though it is hollow under its "shell surface". It is here that the giant mermaid Alka brought the whole of the night/day pirates Sunny and Luna Tarpe, and the marine captain Soren Misawa, as a means of hiding and of figuring a plan from there.

Alka Anarchy
Alka had been swimming along, starting to get hungry, but hadn't found a decent place to "surface". If at all possible, she would have liked to find an underwater cavern, though none had showed up that she could get into. And then of course....Bekkou Island came up. Immediately recognizable for its distinctive shell shaped pattern, Alka favored this island and chose it for its ability to hide her massive form with ease. From its one visible socket in its shell deep underwater, Alka was dwarfed by the socket's sheer size and space inside. A small island rested in the interior, to which she crawled up and proceeded to spit the trio out. "Blegh. I never imagined humans to taste so...so...nasty. Seriously, have you even TASTED yourselves lately? I at least, know what I taste like, and it's salty sea water, because that's what I live in. Anyway, YOU. Yes you, marine. You keep your honor, duty, and pride stuff to yourself, and above all, don't start anything! I will murder you in the one element of your weakness that's ALL around us. Now you listen to them, and we can get along like we're not mortal enemies like we are, mmkay?" Alka had never wanted to stuff a human in her mouth. That was probably the equivalent of a human sticking a spider into their mouth. Never knew what they were going to do, and they wouldn't taste good at all. After threatening Soren, Alka backed off, though slowly. The soft sand of the island made walking difficult, and Alka sank fairly deep braced on her elbows while waiting for "talks" to begin. "Oy, Sunny, take it from here if you will. You're the boss with the plan, no? I mean, this was hardly the rendezvous that I had in mind, much less with....HIM." Her tone was a clear indication that Alka indeed wanted to drown the marine or simply want him dead for whatever reason.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ xxxxxSunny, once thrown into Alka's mouth, had immediately caught her sister and held on. She was still holding Luna when they'd been spat out, thus taking all of the pain (landing on her tailbone- ouch!). She immediately allowed her sister to lay back easily and scowled at Alka- Sunny? Scowling? Shocking, I know. "We didn't exactly ask to be eaten, you know! Don't blame us for your own actions." With this out of the way, Sunny started to pace. She'd wanted to use Soren to get them out of the mess, and she was sorry she'd had to hurt and use him, but now... well... what now? Stopping her pacing and looking to Soren, she said, "How about we call a truce?" To illustrate her point, she took her deer horn knives from their sheaths on her belt and threw them in the sand. Even if he tried to attack her... well, it was still a fairly nice day outside. It'd probably go right through her like he'd attacked a ray of sunshine. "Fighting here will do us no good and... well... we need to figure this mess out, so..."

______________________________________________________________________________ As they were spat out, Soren landed with shocking ease, tho with his throat still in shambles, he still managed to stumble before falling forward. He quickly turned over and pointed his finger at the giant mermaid girl. "You're one to talk! Have you smelt your own breath!? I felt like I was literally burning alive in there!" He said as loud as he could, tho it would be like a whisper for Alka... "And I have no intention of fighting or resisting... only an idiot tries to go up against impossible odds when there's a slim chance of survival..." He said once more as he sat cross-legged with his hands behind his back. He simply lowered his head, more so for his throat then anything as he shut his eye's in thought. 'so she was a pirate and fell for it like a sucker... how pathetic... I'll certainly need to make up for this little disgrace now won't I...' He though to him self before it hit him. 'wait... what happens if their disturbed rapists!? Oh god thats why they took me hostage! their gonna rape me until I die!' He thought snickering in thought... Soren had an odd habit of turning the worst scenario into a sarcastic joke meant only for him self... It wasn't necessarily a bad one but... It could have easily been better... ______________________________________________________________________________

Alka responded to both of their accusations by rising up and slamming down her fists immediately in front of them, disturbing the sands and island on a whole. "Shaddup! I didn't exactly have much of a choice if we wanted to ditch the dodos effectively! Your little pea of a boat would have slowed us down so hard, so I had to hide it and leave it behind. Here's the flag though, figured we'd need it. And YOU, you miserable footstool, you can it. At least I don't taste like dirt, and general body odor of a man. You taste worse than a rotting fish, so ixnay on the upid-STAY!" The primary advantage Alka had here was that they were effectively trapped on a small, unstable sand island where if they were to fall into the water, would effectively mean death. Alka was under no such precarious circumstances. That and she had the ability to shape the island with her force if need be. She growled and sunk down into the water up to her ear fins, bubbling as she spouted off presumably foul language not able to be heard.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ xxxxxSunny made an 'eep' noise when Alka slammed her fists against the island, but couldn't help a chuckle as she was yelling at Soren's "manly body odor." As Alka sunk back into the waters, she cleared her throat, attempting to regain some sort of control of the situation. "First off... Soren, I'm sorry if I hurt your throat. And... I'm sorry we kind of used you to get off the island safely. And I'll pay you back for the meal when we get some money." She frowned, then brightened, "But hey, at least you didn't end up buying us a lot of supplies!" Sunny frowned. Now that they were here, she didn't know what to do. They had no boat, and no way to really 'get rid of' Soren. Well, we could leave him here, but that'd be cruel... Sunny brought her fist up to her lips and bit her thumbnail; a bad habbit she needed to break herself of. Eyes widening a bit, she looked to Alka. "Oi, Alka-chan, how much longer until nightfall?"

______________________________________________________________________________ Soren continued to keep his eye's shut and his head lowered with that smile still plastered on his face, as Alka slammed the sandy island, Soren got jumped up about a foot, before landing back down on his butt. Seemingly unaffected. As Sunny spoke, he looked up just enough to make eye contact with the girl. "You don't have to pay me back... and I would have had no problem financing an adventure... most people go the way of a pirate for freedom and adventure... I can understand it to be honest... freedom from rules and the such... it's just the ones that pillage that create problems in my eyes... tho you don't seem to be the type... so I would have happily bought you the supplies either way... and biting your nail is a bad habit" He said before lowering his head once more. ______________________________________________________________________________

From her position, Alka's ear fins twitched as if registering the question, and held up a finger in the "one moment" sign. Her head drifted out further away, and then abruptly dropped below the surface. Since it was fairly light inside of the cavern, one could expect to guess what time it was. However, since cracks were the only way of registering, light could be at any angle and filter through. She dove beneath the waves and disappeared for a moment or two and then some as she finally re-emerged and surfaced with hands near the edge of the shoreline. "Ehh...probably three...three and a half hours...tops. Sun's pretty low in the sky, but since we're near grand line, it moves slower too." Alka noted before resuming her mostly submerged appearance, ear fins occasionally twitching as she listened, lazily swimming around the cavern.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ xxxxxSunny nodded to Alka, watching only for a moment as her first mate swam about the cavern. Listening to Soren, she blinked, "Eh, you're pretty understanding for a marine," Sunny said, sitting down on the sand with her legs crossed. "I don't see why my sister hates you guys so much." Sunny rocked back and forth, forcing herself to stop chewing on her nail. Instead, she put both hands on her knees, thinking. There weren't many solutions to part peacefully- well, actually, the options were growing quickly. They could simply give Soren a ride to the next island. Or... Sunny perked a bit, smiling brightly down at the marine captain, "Ne, Soren! You should join my crew!" So it wasn't the brightest or most logical of plans, but it had it's merits (at least, to Sunny). The Night and Day Pirates needed crew members (and a ship). Soren was a good fighter, and Sunny was sure there was something he could bring to the crew. Even if that something was being the one who squishes spiders when they sneak into the cabins (Luna had no problem with them, but then, Luna was never around when Sunny needed spiders squished). And she was fairly certain if Alka attempted to squish a spider, the whole deck would go. Sunny, while her thoughts trailed off to God-knows where, looked expectantly at Soren, hoping for a yes.

The moment that Sunny mentioned the possibility of Soren joining their crew, a snorkling noise was heard throughout the cavern. Like the equivalent of a soda spit. Alka's head and her body up to her ribcage was out of water. Her hand immediately grasped Sunny, lifting her clean off of the island, and proceeded to dunk her several times in the sea water before putting her back on dry land. "OY! Are you thinking weird again?? He's a marine! He'd sooner slap shackles on you two and cart you away to prison than join a pirate!" Alka stifled a few coughs, looking indignant that Sunny even give voice to such a ridiculous proposal. She muffled a cough, then crossed her arms low across her chest, drumming her fingers against her arm, as if expecting some kind of answer...or apology...or something.

______________________________________________________________________________ Soren looked back up as Sunny as she spoke, tho when she said he should join her crew, he arched an eye brow before opening his mouth to speak as Alka quickly picked Sunny up before he could. He simply laughed quietly. 'become a pirate... what a joke...' He thought to him self lowering his head once more... The sad thing was it had crosses his mind... Complete freedom... It was a thought he'd probably never let go of, but he had men to care for and a rank to uphold... He simply laughed quietly without giving an answer.

Wiping the seawater from her eyes, she coughed and sputtered a little before looking up at Alka, "That was mean! And you shouldn't make assumptions about people." She looked to Soren, expecting some sort of answer. Said answer never came, so she looked back to Alka, eyes widening a bit when she heard the muffled cough. "Are you okay, Alka? You're not getting sick or something, are you?" Normally she would push Soren for an absolute answer, but if Alka wasn't feeling well, her priorities would change quickly.

Alka had previously crossed her arms and had waited for a reply of sorts, though once she started to get one, she submerged most of the way to her "usual" level, bubbles foaming near her mouth as one could almost make out her lips moving. When Sunny inquired about her health, Alka's ear fins strongly flicked down and outward before emerging just enough for her mouth to clear the water. "Fine and fine. I was choking on sea water. Bad timing brought on by the ridiculous idea you proposed. I'm fine now. At any rate, we need a bigger boat. This whole grab you and push the boat along didn't do me any favors, and if you're looking for nakama, a small two person boat won't do any longer. So you can't really even offer to anyone without making it cramped onboard. I'd say we look for a shipwright, since as I understand it, those are the beings who build boats. But that implies we have money. Swimming with all of you in my mouth wasn't exactly painful, but it limits my dive time by whenever I get hungry, I'd most likely have eaten you. Keeping my tongue up like that also wasn't pleasant. So using me as a full-time boat is kind of out of the question. Oh, and we could just get halfway close to an island, I could chuck suit-boy here and hope he lands on the island and then be on our merry way." Alka didn't bother using her hands to gesture, and instead "pointed" with eye directives or tilts and jerks of her head, to which she promptly sunk back down to submerge past her nose.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ xxxxxSunny's face remained blank while Alka explained that she was choking on sea water. A mermaid. Choking on sea water. For some reason, that struck her as absolutely hilarious. Sunny sat through Alka's entire speech before bursting out into howls of laughter, tears flying from the corner of her eyes. "How do you choke on sea water?! You're a mermaid!!" She laughed for a few minutes (okay, fine, one minute) before forcing herself to take five deep, calming breaths. "Gomen, Alka-chan... it's just funny... is all." Chuckling awkwardly, she sighed and readied herself to talk business. "I agree with the need for a bigger boat. I wonder what the figurehead will be like... maybe a beluga whale! We need a ship with a beluga whale for the figurehead!" She stopped herself again, trying to think rationally. "Part of me wants to find something big enough for you to fit aboard, but you would probably prefer to swim, right? Or would you rather ride on a ship?" Sunny only waited a few seconds for a response before remembering what was said last. "Alka! Be nice to Soren!"

Alka remained mostly underwater as Sunny had her hyena fit, bubbles constantly rising to the surface in front of her face. Terrible excuse, it was. Didn't mean though that it wasn't entirely undeserving with that kind of a proposal she'd made, though. Sunny began musing aloud, it seemed. Alka's eyes quickly darted off to the side with a slightly flustered look on her face. Beluga...why did she had to say beluga?? And WHALE, for tide's sake. The bubbles around Alka's mouth increased their number and freqency. Her reaction probably would have made more sense that Alka herself resembled a beluga sturgeon..hence her reaction. But she didn't expect Sunny to catch the reference, and mentally resigned herself to having to stare at such a figurehead that most would likely confuse with her own presence there. She seemed to be asking Alka something, so she listened in, and then fully heard the scolding. In response, Alka rolled her eyes and rose up again to rest on the island with her elbows. "Hardly." And as for your question earlier, you don't have a crew even half large enough to operate a ship that would be that large, so I'd settle for something that you could accommodate more "nakama" of more...appropriate sized beings. I will swim along, and such a solution will probably work for you unless you decide to enter or cross the grand line itself. "
