~Masaomamono of the Deep~
Alka Anarchy

Smug in her victory over the marine, in at least in terms of getting what she wanted from him, Alka had taken to holding the ship in her mouth, or one end of it anyway. This made for easier and faster swimming, but now that she'd effectively reached a relatively slow traffic area for both humans and aquatic life, she slowed and eventually stopped, before towing the ship to a more shallow area where she could "sit" with the ship held in her hands. One of them would wake up eventually. It would just take some time to do so.

xxxxxSunny was talking in her sleep. It was something she did when she was sleeping lightly; that, and tossing and turning. In fact, from where she'd been laid next to her sister, she was already laying on top of Luna, hugging her with her forehead pressed to her sister's collar bone, wrapping around her older sibling much like a koala would hug a tree. "No, mommy, I don't want extra ramen... I've got enough..." Scowling, she yelled, "Give it to Alex!" Waking herself up with a start, Sunny found herself looking down at her sister's chest. Blushing brightly and pulling away, she sat up and looked around. Luna was drooling again. Yes, Luna, the fearless heroine, drooled in her sleep. It made sharing a pillow utterly disgusting. "Gomen, onee-chan." Sunny said, slipping out of bed and heading out to the deck. Shutting the door and transitioning quickly into a closed-eye yawn, stretching both hands over her head, she cried out, "Nya~! I had a good nap." Opening her eyes and looking at the deck, she noticed a large, looming shadow over the ship. Her hands reflexively moved to her knives before looking up at the offensive being; only to find her friend, Alka. Her hands left the handles and she waved brightly, "Hi, hi, Alka-chan~! What are you doing here, I thought you'd left Honeycomb, but...?"

~Masaomamono of the Deep~
Alka Anarchy

Alka had gone to mindless gazing around when a voice snapped her back to "reality". At last, one of them was awake. Gazing downward, Alka offered a sort of sheepish smile as an explanation at first, removing one hand to wave and then rub the back of her head. "Ehehh-ehh-ehehh, ehmmm...well, about that. I did leave Honeycomb, but it wasn't really fair of me to have taken off and footed you both the possible blame of the island basically being destroyed and all. You were asleep though when I got back, and I talked a bit with who I presume is your sister...right? Dark hair, commanding type personality....kinda blunt? Anywho, she was on your ship, so I figured you two would know each other. You seriously don't remember me at all? Not from Tenebrae or at all?" Alka found it odd that Sunny would have somehow missed Alka's seemingly hard to hide body, but dismissed it for the time being.

xxxxxSunny grinned, "Didn't see you at all. Oh- and yeah, that's my twin sister, Luna. She's got a personality disorder." Dismissing Luna's rude personality, she grinned, "But I'm glad to have run into you, Alka-chan! I'm sorry if what I'd said was rude on Honeycomb. Luna told me about you destroying the island, and I thought I must've made you upset." Funny how she could bypass the complete destruction of a hardworking village, but when it came to upsetting someone she called a 'friend,' she was upset. She was glad, though, that Alka seemed a bit different. Somewhat happy, aloof and... well, it was a good sign that she hadn't been drowned yet.

Alka Anarchy

"Don't worry about it. You were indeed right. I knew that, but I don't often find places where I can live, much less find places that I can eat there as well. Kind of a lazy hunter, I am. I never did get her name, but thank you. What brought you first to Honeycomb Island though? I mean, I might be the biggest mermaid in the world, but I doubt that was on the "tourist attraction" list of "to see", much less mentioned at all." Alka was at least, over the sting of being very wrong and proved so, which was probably a good thing. The two of them gave off an inviting atmosphere, which was the beginning of what Alka hoped to be a grand adventure, and possibly an excuse to go destroy the world nobles and their charade of being "superior". But even friends would be nice. Friends were hard to come by, since most of the potential ones were usually small enough to eat, and conscious of that fact. Very frustrating when they hid and wouldn't come out at all.

xxxxxSunny hummed, crossing her arms over her chest and taking a seat on a crate. "I dunno! We're just kind of... idly travelling. We don't have a navigator, and we really don't know how to read a map or a compass, just how to work the sails and direct the boat." Sunny hummed, biting her thumbnail. She perked, looking up to Alka, "Ne, Alka-chan, do you want to join our crew? Luna and I are the captains of the Night and Day Pirates! Though... we don't actually... have a crew... yet." Sunny laughed sheepishly, averting her gaze to the water at the sides of her boat. "Anyway! What do you say, Alka-chan?"

~Masaomamono of the Deep~
Alka Anarchy

Alka tilted her head. Apparently a boat needed a lot of people to run it. How...really inferior it was, indeed. Still, she couldn't expect humans to create something that would be equal to that of the aquatic residents that shared the waters with their land-based "cousins". "Mmm, well I don't know what a navigator is, or a compass. I know what a map is, if that counts for anything, but I have a feeling that the map you both use will be too small for me to really read effectively. What I do know though is that if either of you fall in the water though, you're both going to end up floating face down, so in that aspect, I do worry for the both of you. It isn't like I have anything pressing to do, and it'll probably be better if I keep moving instead of trying to settle down somewhere. So...yes, if you're serious about inheriting most of my problems along the way. I don't know what I'll do for you both as part of your crew, aside from acting as a sort of "lifeguard" in the rare case either of you would fall in, but that only works if I'm awake. Hmm..what I know I can do for you is get you across the grand line whenever you want. Sea kings leave me alone unless I start something with them. Maybe they see me as one, or something. But yeah, I think that maybe if we can get more crew members to join eventually, things'll look up for you all, right?" Alka nodded her agreement to join the crew upon Sunny's offer, but also had voiced her concerns about not really being able to do a whole lot for them.

xxxxxSunny grinned happily. "Well, we need a bigger boat before we get a bigger crew, but that'll come with time... I guess... and it's okay, you can be first mate! That gives you more say than others." Sunny nodded, estatic she had her first crew mate. The fact Alka would probably never be able to ride on her boat or ship was okay, though. She was a good fighter, and a good addition to the crew! "Oh, and you don't have to worry about feeling useless or anything. Because you're a good person, and I'm sure there's a lot of things you can do others can't." Sunny grinned brightly, until, of course, the growling of her own stomach distracted her. Her face went blank and her mouth fell open in an embarrassed, shocked expression. Not only could she not cook, there was nothing on the ship to cook. They hadn't had a chance to stock up at Honeycomb or Tenebrae... "D-darn..."

~Masaomamono of the Deep~
Alka Anarchy

Alka understood at least the need of eating, that much both "species" shared in common. "You're hungry. Does your sister end up hungry when she wakes up? I'd think she would be, given you both take half of a day and are usually doing nothing but working the whole time keeping each other alive. Maybe that's how I can help out, for now anyway. I hope you don't mind, but I'll be back in a few." Alka explained, before putting the ship aside and diving. It would take some doing, of course, since while Alka could simply open her mouth and eat like a whale or manta ray would, odds were that her new found friends wouldn't enjoy cleaning them or eating them after she had them in her mouth. It wasn't even appealing to Alka to even give up that food. Ultimately though, she couldn't catch a smaller one, and settled for wrestling what was a "minnow" to her, or a six-foot bluefin tuna and hauled it up to the surface before depositing it on the deck and holding it there. "Since we're at sea, seafood it is.....I hope you like seafood....not much else out here for variety...unless you eat kelp." The last bit was kind of murmured, as if Alka couldn't understand really what kind of self-respecting being ate kelp. Of course, the idea of cooking food escaped her as well, as she normally just opened her mouth and either bit down, or swallowed. The stomach took care of the rest.

xxxxxSunny looked at the fish. It was huge. Maybe not to Alka, but it was... it had to be about as tall as Sunny from fin to nose! "Holy carp, this thing could eat me alive..." Sunny muttered, staring wide-eyed at the thing. She rolled up her sleeves and struck a determined stance, "I'm going to cook this thing! I watched my mom cook fish once, when I was little. I bet I could do this. ...but this thing won't fit in the kitchen..." Sunny paused, faltering a bit. Perhaps this would be harder than she thought... "I'll just prepare it out here!" Sunny ran inside and grabbed a few things; a knife to skin the thing, a bowl to put the edible meat in and an apron. While unneccessary, Sunny wanted to wear the apron. "Yosh! I've got this!" That said, Sunny stood over the fish for a few minutes. Looking up to Alka, she asked, "...This is dead, right?"

Alka Anarchy

Wait....cooked? Humans had to do that too?? There just seemed to be no end of new things Alka learned about humans in such a short time, and still, it was confusing to no end. "Erm....no..does it need to be dead, though?" Perhaps that made sense. Humans that weren't as big, nor as talented/adapted at holding fish would need it dead before they could eat it. "Ohh. I think I see why you asked. Okay then." Alka picked up the fish again and held it between three fingers, applying pressure before the fish seized up and abruptly went very limp. She then returned it to the deck with a satisfied look on her face. "All right then. NOW it's dead. I didn't realize you humans would initially need it dead to work on it and stuff, sorry about that."

xxxxxSunny winced, looking away as Alka killed the fish. Poor thing. Either way, now she had to figure out how to get the scales and inedible parts off... I have no idea how to cook fish, Sunny thought, sighing a bit. She did notice the way Alka was speaking and looked up at her, "You don't cook your food, Alka?" She thought about it, but figured it was just like eating sushi every day of your life. I'm not very fond of sushi, Sunny thought, looking at the fish. Well, first I'm going to need to chop this sucker's head off so...! Sunny stood and, putting unneeded force into it, stabbed the fish in the gills. It hit the bone with a sickening crack and Sunny released the handle immediately, shuddering. "Gross, gross, gross, gross, gross!"

Alka Anarchy

The noises that the fish would inevitably make sounded odd to Alka. Perhaps it was because she rarely chewed her food and simply swallowed it. "No, not really. It goes in, I swallow, and the stomach takes care of the rest. I don't know why you humans don't do the same thing, but I guess it has something to do with the fact your mouths are super small. Hmmm though...maybe it's poisonous to you humans. Ehh. If you're not interested in it, I can drive us somewhere with a market for you humans as well. Maybe?" Alka's observations as to Sunny's hesitation and reaction to the fish's demise, as well as verbal confirmations of it, led Alka to believe Sunny wasn't a fan of seafood. It made sense, she supposed. It wasn't part of the primary diet. Odd, considering you'd think in a world filled with water, it would be. Still, the offer stood.

xxxxx"No!" Sunny said, a bit too loud and forceful. It wasn't that she disliked seafood- save for sushi- but that she'd never cooked a fish before and was unaccustomed to the "gross" noises it could make. However now, for better or for worse, she was determined to cook the thing. Taking a deep breath and pulling the knife from the fish, she glared at it. "I will not be beaten by a fish!" Holding the knife up high, she figured since her weapons were 'deer horn knives,' skinning the thing wouldn't be too hard. So, she attacked it. Slicing back and forth quickly, scales started to literally fly in a hundred different directions, as well as the head flying off and plopping into the water. Sunny was determined not to lose to a fish, that much was for certain. Though, it was surprising the fish ever posed a threat. When Sunny finally stopped, the fish was far from perfect. In fact, patches of scales still clung to the thing. Sunny herself was standing in front of it, heaving and breathing hard. Crossing her hands to make a 'T' she cried, "I quit..."

~Masaomamono of the Deep~
Alka Anarchy

Alka had never really known a fear, though watching Sunny hack at it and realized that it didn't take a professional at cutting or swordplay to instill fear. It merely took an insanity of sorts. Of course, having never really eaten her prey, or chewed it, it was like watching the surgery channel. Alka found herself cringing and curling up as her imagination had just punched in to go to work. "Eek. Y-you don't have to...go that far...you've...you've just never had to...to ermmm....make fish edible for you or other humans...." Alka reached down with one hand, as if to try and pat her on the head and back reassuringly. Maybe if you tell me what to do, maybe I can help you do it? You're the captain, not the cook, it's not really your duty to make food ready for you and your sister. I eat fish all the time, though truth be told, I don't chew unless it's too big for me to really swallow like drinking water..so...so please, uhm...don't get too down on yourself ."
