This is a quest for an existing civilian to become something bigger than himself - [ Braden] Knight Title: Yggdrasil Page Challenge: "I will stand firm." OR for the cert - "Y'know what this situation calls for? A sharp stick!" Uniform: Like a tree in a lightning storm. Natural and cool toned with hints of danger and electricity. Storm grays and saturated green- Like a "dark" Sailor Jupiter as a dude? Top -- OH MAN. Whatever fits with the theme above? Maybe a tunic with a leather vest or something. Bottoms -- Pantsss, MANLY JUPITER pants! ... Idk. CC. Gloves -- Bracers or something with, like, fur or leather and s**t. Belt -- Same as all that above. Shoes -- Practical, worn, boots please. Shoulders -- Fuzzy, wuzzy, shoulderpads would rock. : D Accessories -- Just wing it. Color -- Palette - Made this specifically for him. Weapon -- Page - Hard plastic replica wand. Can be used to ... poke people, I suppose. Squire: Longer and now metal wand, something like a decorative hand-held lightning rod. Some good ideas. How it works - Yggdrasil can choose one opponent and tap/strike him with his wand. The touch creates a static charge within his enemy that Yggdrasil can continue to channel for a maximum of 30 seconds by continuously pointing his wand at his target. Should his line of sight be broken, or the attack interrupted in any way, the connection will be broken and the static effect will vanish away completely. The actual static charge is meant to be highly uncomfortable but not truly damaging or dangerous. How that's played out will be up to the player of his targets. Knight: More decorative and staff-like in length and design. MMOs meet Sailor Jupiter. ((I suck at design, folks.)) How it works - The attack and effect stay the same for up to a minute total or he can direct the flow and generating of static between multiple targets in a group, losing 15 seconds per person within the effect. Should any member or members of the target group move more than three feet away from the remaining members of the initial grouping or his line of sight on the group be broken, the hold of his attack on that person(s) will dissipate completely. Whenever Yggdrasil's target(s) touch a part of themselves, another person, or any item while under the effects of his attack they will feel as though they've just come into contact with statically charged metal. This usually results in that part of their body feeling a sharp painful shock and tingling/tickling sensation for no more than a second.

Why a Knight : Because he will flip his s**t and I like ******** with my characters.
... Seriously.
Despite his many, many, shortcomings Braden wants to help. He is at the core of his being a good man. A very good man. A good man that wishes wistfully at times that he was good enough that he had the ability to actually make a difference for right in the world. He'll always feel like he doesn't truly belong, that's just who he is, and more often then not that will make it hard for him to trust other knights and senshi but that's okay. He's used to doing things on his own. I mean, what kind of problem could being a loner land him in really? C:
Why a Knight of Jupiter : His whole life, everything that makes Braden- Braden is comprised of conflict. As though there's a hidden part of his past or his heritage that has molded and shaped him towards being something more in the name of the planet and god associated with thunder and discord. His father doesn't care where he is, ever, and his mother is dead. He has very little in the way of friendship. He doesn't know it, but it's his destiny. Y'know- if you want to be all Mary Sue about it.
No, really, why Jupiter? ICly - Because it's his inheritance from his mother's side of the family. No one knows about it but somewhere, far, down his blood line one of his mother's ancestors was a knight of Jupiter. OOCly - Because it ******** fits man. I've always known I wanted Braden to awaken into something. His original quest was for him as a Cavalier and then later I tried a senshi quest but could never find a good power sphere for him. This just seems natural as hell and I am excite.

Not a crit! (I'll have to edit one in). But I figured it was important to say that Chris Gallo is Valhalla, so... XD, there's not much to debate over names! (Unless you want to consider like, Sindri (where the good go after Ragnarok) or Bifrost (awesome rainbow bridge!) )

And like a dork had JUST been looking at Valhalla for ideas. Augh. -goes to correct- Thanks for pointing that out.

Also not a crit (everything looks fine in my opinion anyway), I'm just horribly curious why you chose 'ash tree' for the quote as opposed to any other tree?
Ash trees are NOTORIOUS for falling over. Like.. they grow like weeds for 100 years but once they hit that age they all fall over and decompose laying the ground work for forest understories to grow.
Why not like.. the redwood since those things live forever and are huge as all crap. Or even just 'mighty tree' as opposed to a particular species.

xD Because Yggdrasil is depicted as, and is supposedly, a giant ash.
Edit: I still changed his challenge to make a bit more sense, thanks Iris! <3

The effects are all dandy, but your channeling durations are too long. XD
For Squire, the maximum duration should probably be no more than 45 seconds -- Yggdrasil could do shorter shields for 10 or 15.
For Knight, you can increase the maximum to maybe a minute, subtracting 15 seconds for each extra person he protects. This might not seem like much -- but five minutes is ICly a whole battle most of the time, and an entire protective dome is a much bigger advantage than the smaller flat shield he's getting at Squire!
You also need to specify if the shield protects from physical attacks, magical attacks, or both. If magical attacks can pass through, that would mean senshi could cast spells from within his protective domes at Knight stage -- so being more specific here is going to tell people a lot about how they can RP in battles with your character.

Okey-dokey! Thank you Mouse! I pretty much just went with what you suggested completely, as I am lazy. I'm hoping that's cool?

Ah whoops! I meant a total of 45 seconds of usage for his Squire stage, whether he's using it for a long duration or short one. ^^; That's how Knight magic works! He can make the shield last any amount of time -- I think I was using 10 or 15 second durations as an example of this -- but once he's used up a total of 45 seconds he's out of magic juice.
Same goes for his Knight stage~ whether he's putting up the shield for 5 seconds or 15 or 30, the one minute is the total amount of time he would be able to use his magic when you add all his shield-times together.
He would be able to use both spells by his third stage, though!

I think he's a little overpowered the way you describe how he can use his power. I dunno. I'm doing a knight quest for Kyn and her squire power it being able to wield a whip. Hooray!
I would limit the time he can use his shields at both stages. It seems like a really long time.
I would also explore other options. A lot of the knights can create barriers and such to protect. We need more knights that can do something to compliment the others while they protect. Think about it. If Yggdrasil was in a group what would he specialize in? What would he do that no one else can? How can he fit into the dynamic?
I dunno...just my thoughts.

Yggdrasil~~
But yeah, like Zaia was saying! Don't be afraid of using attacks that aren't just barriers/shields! (Unless that's what you really want to do, then go for it! <3 Pasiphae (a moon of Jupiter) also has shield magic. )
Like... Valhalla's magic is kind of trolly and makes people do the opposite of what they're trying to do (ducking when trying to jump, etc), and then Sessrumnir "traps" people inside his storm glass and makes them feel like they're experiencing a storm when they're really not.
I guess it's a joke about how those in the Jupiter system screw with people's minds in some way, if that's inspiring at all. XD;
I don't know what you'd think, but this just came to me... what if his magic causes his opponents to become electrically charged? And then whatever they touch for a certain amount of time will give them a static shock? Idk. :<

Aha, yeah, I'm really bad at determining time limit anything. xD Thanks for the clarification Mouse.
Zaia- Yeah, that's what Mouse was saying as well. <3 Thanks for the input, though.
Guine - Oooh. Being a little trolly with Yygdrasil and electricity could be a lot of fun. It's definitely something I play around with. Thanks. <3 You're kind of the leading expert on Jupiter Knights, y'know. xD

Yay! New attacks/abilities up! xD Thank you, again, Guine, for your suggestion here. I asked my husband to come up with ideas and he was like "What if he could zap someone with electro-magnetism and then for a period of time they draw small metal things to them? OHWAIT NO- You should use static electricity and everything they touch shocks them and is annoying as hell!" It was pretty awesome, needless to say.

Ahaha, awesome! You could probably include the other effects of static into his attack, such as really frizzy hair and clothes that cling, and if someone has a weapon, they are just constantly getting static shocks. I was thinking about it last night and wondering just how often someone was going to touch something else to cause the attack to take effect. Someone could stand around and not touch anything, so the attack would almost be pointless... So if you added the extra effects, since it's not an offensive attack, I think that would be more fun for others (and yourself) to play out. Especially if people are getting shocked by touching things that shouldn't pull a charge! Like... rubber, but they're getting shocked anyway. Talk about annoying!!
His magic pool seems a little low, too. I'm in the process of getting Valhalla's attacks revised, but originally it was 3 times with 30 seconds each. (Now it's only a minute for his squire, but with shorter time in between attacks.) With knights... unless they're really good with fighting and okay with not really having a weapon... it gets a little frustrating with how... almost pathetic they seem when compared to the other factions. They have a barely helpful weapon and no magic their first stage, and even after that they're not supposed to have an offensive attack. Not one that would cause damage like a senshi or nega at least. So I think, because of that, you can definitely play with padding his attack some more. Maybe make it a larger magic pool and be able to use it a few more times than what it is now. Maybe there can be an extra quirk with it that, if he touches the same person again, the annoying-ness of the static intensifies, maybe to the point that if you move at all the person gets annoying little shocks?
Another thing to think about... how often would he be fighting a group of opponents at once? Since battles are usually just one on one, his knight attack seems to be for meta game use only, when a lot of people are fighting at the same time. I'm not the reigning word on this, of course... Mouse should be able to say more on the topic, but I would imagine that there might be a way for him to hit multiple opponents while still using his one attack? Like, if it's just a magic pool being used and no down time needed between attacks (because that would be annoying attacking one person and then having to be, "Well, shoot, I can't do anything about this other person over here..." especially since they're not offensive attacks, anyway. Er... not damaging offensive attacks.), then theoretically he could have multiple effected at once, and their electrical charges could play off one another in RP...? Of course, I like attacks that are up to interpretation, but it's up to you! But that way it would open him up to either adding another attack or even making the one he had more powerful. Although... he does have a staff at his knight stage, and that's technically a more "powerful" weapon... in that it could cause some serious damage... so... things might get tricky in evening everything out.
And... yeah. I hope that helps! Just remember that knights can't do much, magic wise, but that should give leeway to play and have fun with it!
