MAXWELL WINGARD
PostPosted: Sun Jun 12, 2011 7:09 pm

Name: Maxwell Wingard

Nickname: Max, if you must.

Age: 11

Birthday: June 17th

Sign: Gemini

Gemstone: Pearl

Blood Type: O

Fav. Food: Macaroni and cheese! The food of royalty. Definitely.

Hated Food: Bologna ANYTHING and hot dogs.

School: Knightside Elementary

Hobbies:
Dress up: Max adores getting into all sorts of outfits. He has a little bureau in his room just filled with costume extras from his mother's work. Now that he's getting older, he's realized he actually really likes costuming, fashion, and the theatre. Max can often be found at the theatre his mom works out just wandering around. He'll probably sign up for all sorts of theatre classes and school plays.

Ponies!: Just about every prince has a gallant steed and Max is no different! He adores horses and dreams of owning one on his own. As much as his mother wants to give him one right away, it simply isn't in the budget of a single mother. So instead, Max entertains himself with plastic horses, pictures of horses, everything horse-like. Max has gone on horse-riding outings though, and he loved it. He dreams of owning his own horse someday, but alas, it is the dream of an 11 year old. Bottom line? If it isn't a horse, see yourself out.

Stargazing: Max absolutely adores looking at the stars. Since he's only 11, he can't really go anywhere to stargaze by himself, but he loves visiting planetariums and museums with his mommy! He has his own "amazing telescope," which is really just a basic telescope. He uses it for star gazing, but can often be seen looking at people through it still. He knows some basic constellations, like the big dipper, the southern cross, etc. but doesn't really know much about stars other than "they're pretty." He doesn't ever dream of being an astronaut or anything like that, but he loves looking at the night sky.

Virtues:
Little Gentleman: Unlike most children his age, Max tries to be as prince-like as he can. You'll always hear his "pleases" and "thank yous" and he will most certainly open the door for you! Of course, he is still a kid; Max still runs around, plays with trucks and gets frustrated. Most of the time though, you can count on him to be every mother's dream; a little gentleman.

Gallant: After Max's dad left, his mother had to raise him on his own. As such, Max adores women. Not in that "she's hot" kind of way (girls have cooties!), but more in a dashing way. Max has a penchant for women and can't help but pamper them. He's always on his best behavior for them, and is always ready to save the damsel in distress! As such, Max has a pretty hard time trusting boys, because at heart he is nothing but a momma's boy.

Delicate: You won't readily find Max pounding through the mud and tramping around in the dirt. He is dainty. Well, he would never readily admit it, manly pride and all, but Max absolutely hates getting dirty and dirty objects. He's rather hygienic, and it shows. If you wanted him to clean something for you, he would probably do with no questions asked; he just hates things being dirty! As such, Max is a delicate little boy; he's not the typing to be loud, or start rough-housing. For the most part he tries to be a dainty little fairy, not a burping, farting creature like most boys his age.

Imaginative: If anything, Max is incredibly imaginative. He adores dressing up, and if you tell him to sit in a room with nothing but a chair and a piece of string, he could be entertained for hours. He has a very vast imagination for his age and has a fun time creating something out of nothing. He's not very skilled with arts and crafts, nor is he very good at sewing and the like, so he's not necessarily creative, but he's good at using his imagination to express a story or a situation to someone. He uses it when he's acting and what not for portraying characters, but it's also useful in situations like writing a story for school, or keeping himself entertained while his mother is at work.

Flaws:
Haughty: When one is raised like a little prince, one acts like a prince! Max thinks he is the cream of the crock, and deserves everything as such. He has somewhat of a superiority complex, though it's not as severe (it could certainly develop into such though). The same goes for people who are older or more powerful than him too; he is the little prince so he must be bigger and better than you. It doesn't matter if he's at a disadvantage. Due to this attitude, he's also rather self-centered, to couple his arrogance. Oh you scraped your knee? Let me tell you about the time I broke my arm. He likes to make sure the attention is all on him, because he is the best.

Spoiled: Max's mother positively spoiled this little boy all his life. Since his dad left, Max's mom has always felt the need to treasure her little angel. She buys him anything and everything that is in her power to give him. Due to this, Max believes that anything he wants he can get, all he has to do is ask his mom! He's also extremely picky because of this. "What? You're out of apple sauce?" "I will never eat tuna sandwiches, they're gross." He has to get what he wants, when he wants it. It's not simply contained to his mother either; if his friend has a game he wants to play with, Max will ask to play with the game and not expect no for an answer. To deny him is simply absurd. When someone does deny him what he wants, he gets very huffy and disagreeable. It usually ends up in some form of temper tantrum (He's trying to grow out of these, he really is).

Boastful: Max can do this. No really, he can definitely do this! He's much too confident for his age, and while he doesn't rush headlong into things, he definitely thinks he's better than everyone at nearly everything. There are some limits he accepts, such as giant mud puddles (SO DIRTY OH GOD~), but for the most part he believes in himself to the fullest. When he does succeed, you will never hear the end of it. He has to tell everyone how great he is and all the great things he's done. Even if it's something he won't do (i.e. jump in a puddle of mud), he'll simply claim that he's "above such things," and go back to talking about the things he is great at. He's a bit of a bigger talker, not a big doer.

Delicate: Unfortunately, Max is absolutely disgusted by things like mud, bugs, snakes, and more. He is grossed out incredibly easily, and it hinders him from a lot of activities. If you can get past his princely facade, he's actually a big target with the words "bully me" written above him. He really does try hard to hide this, saying things like "oh I'm sick so I can't play in the mud," but honestly, when he starts screaming like a little girl because there's a fly on his arm, it's a bit hard not to tell.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: reddd. <3

Hair: this style, and that same sort of blondeish white color.

Face: Very doll-like and innocent looking.

Clothes: student~

Senshi: Chibi Sailor Icarus, Chibi Senshi of Flight

Challenge: TBD.

Fuku Colour:
Main Color: navy, royal blue; #535D87
Secondary Color: silvery; #C0C0C0

Fuku: should feel like a little petite shouta prince (think ciel phantomhive tbh xD) THIS LITTLE BOY IS PERFECT. Obviously don't step on the toes of the royal stage though :>

Collar -- so i have this image in my mind, of the collar going off the back and forming two little cloth "wings" in the back. sort of like how vega's forms his cape, but instead, it would just be two seperate pieces of cloth forming wings. The best reference I can think of is Lloyd Irving.
Bow -- chest please! would love if if his bow could have a little ruffle underneath it like this!
Bodice -- A white vest like this, should overlap with his shorts and have little pockets
Sleeves -- PUFFY SLEEEEVES like in the image above
Brooch -- artist's choice!
Bottoms -- PUFFY SHORTSSSS like this aldkjf so cute.
Tiara -- artist's choice!
Choker -- artist's choice!
Shoes -- spats! like this or maybe even like this? (heels are okay for this boy!)
Gloves -- yes! short little gloves, preferably white.
Accessories -- a blue ring on his finger, next to a silver one.

Attacks:
Sailor Scout Attack: Icarus Gentle Jump
Execution -- Icarus holds out both of his arms in a gentlemanly manor. He says/shouts the name of his attack, then bends his legs and "jumps" into the air.
Effect -- It allows him to leap into the air about 8 feet- 10 if he's pushing it. After reaching the peak of his ascent, he'll gently float down, somewhat like Peach (00:10)
Use Limits -- It only lasts until he touches back down on the ground. Can be used 2-3 times per battle. The more it's used, the more worn out Icarus is.
Power Limits -- Certainly, if someone reached up and grabbed him when he was in the air, he'd come crashing down. He can't lift anything other than what he would be able to while on the ground; Icarus can't carry another person, nor can he carry big huge rocks. He's rather weak, too, so it would mostly just be small rocks, toys, etc.
Range -- Just himself.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Icarus Gentle Sweep
Execution -- Icarus holds out both of his arms in a gentlemanly manor. He says/shouts the name of his attack, then bends his legs and "jumps" into the air. Now, a storm of white, glowing desu feathers float below him- they do absolutely nothing except look pretty.
Effect -- It allows him to leap into the air about 12 feet- 14 if he's pushing it (basically, a tad higher than a normal chibi senshi might be able to).

Eternal Sailor Attack: Icarus Soaring Ascent
Execution -- Icarus looks down and throws his arms out to his side one by one. As he does, the image of wings appears behind him (they're not real, just an image) with each arm swing. Finally he looks up and says his attack name. He jumps up into the air, or points at someone to make them go flying. However he moves his finger is how the person/object goes flying up. IE: he points diagonal, and the person goes diagonal. He can't control how they come down or what they do whilst in the air.
Effect -- An object, person, or himself goes flying 15-20 feet in the air, and gently floats down. He can also now lift people up with him when he goes- in other words, if he can hold them on the ground, he can carry them into the air. He can pick up teenagers and adults too, as they feel lighter to him (they don't actually become lighter, they're just easier to lift). If he lifts only himself and nothing else, while he's floating down he can attempt to "walk on air," though he's still falling all the while. Imagine Alice when she's falling down the rabbit hole.
Use Limits -- He can only use it once per battle, and it's very straining on his wittle self.
Power Limits -- He can't lift anything he wouldn't be able to lift on the ground if he's carrying it. If he's lifting other objects/people he can only lift one at a time. The objects can't be huge, like say a building or a tree- just things like big rocks or a bicycle.
Range -- One person/thing at a time, unless he's carrying it. Then himself + one object/person.

CIV SIDE

I'd be more careful about giving Maxwell interests and traits that are appropriate for his age! Right now I'm seeing a lot of things that don't seem to be a good fit for a 12 year old. The preteen years are when kids start abandoning the "pretend" world and start learning about the real world through their hobbies and interests. You can find a short run-down of what to expect and things to build off of here.

Most of his traits are decent when it comes to giving him a balanced profile, so this is just to give you some things to think about when looking him over again. However, I'd recommend changing around his hobbies a bit so he reads off more believably as a 12-year-old. Right now it feels like I'm reading about someone who's 6 or 7!

Besides that, I really like how well his personality shines through: he's really unique and looks like a lot of fun! The pampered-prince theme he has going is great. I think you just need to sprinkle on more info for each trait, with the end goal being to show us how they make your character think, how it makes them behave and how this reflects on others (why it's a GOOD trait if it's a virtue and why it's a BAD trait if it's a flaw).

In particular, I'd like to see more information on Delicate. You start hinting at how he's neat and tidy, but don't really expand on it too much! That's the part that people will like him for, so it's worth talking about more.

Imaginative / Creative is starting to be a really common virtue in kid characters. You should work more to make this trait more unique to Maxwell. What kind of situations does his creativity help him in? How does this set him apart from his peers? Right now it looks like this trait, along with bits from some others, were written from the perspective of a parent. It would help a lot to adjust this a bit and showcase them from the perspective of his peers and friends!

His Haughty trait has a few different things going on. I'd focus completely on how he's arrogant and self-centered here. The fact that he's picky would probably work better in his Spoiled or Delicate trait.

Speaking of his Spoiled trait, this needs a little less backstory and a lot more information on how this would work in an RP! I doubt you're going to have his mom around everywhere when writing him, so it's more constructive to focus on how his bratty behaviors affects other characters. He thinks he can get anything by asking his mom -- but how does this line of thinking extend to his peers, and what does he do with it?

Overconfident needs more information on how it's a flaw. There's the thinking he's better than everyone, but how does this affect his behavior? Overconfidence is usually associated with trying pull stunts you can't actually manage, and you mention he doesn't rush headlong into things -- so, maybe you should rename this flaw to something like Boastful and focus on how he says a lot but does very little when it's time to actually prove it.

SENSHI SIDE:

You need to name the attacks! I also think you could get away with him lifting himself a bit higher than five feet, because a normal senshi is already able to jump on top of a building without much effort. At the very least it could be high enough to avoid enemies reaching up and grabbing him!

I'd go for maybe 8 feet at basic and 12 feet at Super. At the Eternal level, I think it would be okay to say that he can lift other people. That power's too much fun to keep all to himself!

You've got Little Gentleman, Gallant, AND Delicate listed as separate virtues, when to be honest, they're at most two. Combining these under one banner would be best, and would also give you room to broaden his personality to be something more than a miniature disney prince [which IS adorable].

Haughty and Spoiled should also be combined into one flaw, since his haughty behavior is often a result of being so spoiled.

While Maxwell is super cute [he does read as a younger boy than he is, I was surprised to see that he's 11, not 6-7], I'd really like to see an expansion in his personality beyond his need to get his way, and being super sweet to females. He needs a virtue and a flaw that really show how he'll be interacting with his peers, and also another facet to his personality.

SENSHI:

I do love Icarus, so, let's get into it!

Pretty much everything is good to go, EXCEPT his eternal attack has way too much going on. Not only should an eternal attack only have 2-3 effects/components to start with, he is also a chibi, so his attack is inherently weaker than if he was a regular senshi of flight.

Icarus may:
a. Have a further upgraded version of his scout and super attack, and be able to both jump higher and carry another person + objects.
or
b. Have an attack that effects others, namely pointing at them and sending them soaring into the air with a flick. As well, you should describe the ascent of these individuals. Do they have as soft a landing as he does, or is this more offensive?

Basically, you can't have your cake and eat it, too. Eternal attacks need to either be new, or upgraded versions of their first two attacks, they can't be both!
