Okay, I finally had an idea for a Mafia game format. Here's the first draft lol. Tell me what you think of the concept. o-o

Town Zeus - Doctor: King of the Gods, Zeus strives to maintain order and balance among his siblings and children. In order to avoid bloodshed, Zeus offers protection for those whom the Fates may have deemed "ready".... Apollo - Cop/seer: Charioteer of the Sun, Apollo can look down on Olympus, and see where loyalties lie. Aphrodite & Ares - Lovers: A cliche'd affair of a Woman who could have them all (and in some cases, has) but is forced to marry Hephaestus, the Ugliest, though the most gifted on Olympus. How could she resist the seduction of Ares; strong, determined, chiseled. He's got it all. In secret, the two forbidden mates make love behind her husbands back. Hades - Vigilante: Once cast into the Underworld by his brother, Zeus, Hades now gladly delights in stripping mortals of their Lives on earth, and rewarding them in the Afterlife for their lifestyles. It is Hades' great pleasure to tour his friends through the....'exciting' world beneath our feet. Poseidon - Sympathetic: Both Bringer and Silencer of Storms, Poseidon tends to either be the hell-raiser or the pacifier on Olympus. There are numerous times where He'd prefer to be on the Other side of the arguments, especially if that side is Away from Athena. Hephaestus - Mad Scientist: The Craftsman of the Gods, Hephaestus is the master of invention. As any true artisan, Hephaestus is consistently attempting new techniques, new styles, and new ways to get back at Aphrodite, the only woman he's ever loved, and the only one who will never love him back. Vanilla Town- Athena, Demeter, The Fate Sisters Mafia Hera - Mob Boss: Crafty, sly, and ever vindictive, Hera loves nothing more than revealing Zeus' shortcomings as a Husband, and punishing both him And his consorts. Hermes - Spy: God of Winged-Feet, the messenger of the Gods gladly takes part in furthering the chaos on Olympus, playing Devil's Advocate to all, while stabbing each and every one in the back. The mischievous Hermes is renowned for his Disguises, and will blend in to wherever he won't be noticed. Dionysus - Vote blocker: Ecstasy incarnate. Bringing wine and madness wherever he goes, the persuasive God of the Grapevine can easily steer minds towards debauchery and pleasure, instead of violence and betrayal. Artemis - c**kRoleblocker: Virgin Goddess of the Hunt, she doesn't approve of any funny-business concerning herself, or her harem. Anybody points their peckers in the wrong direction, Artemis is the first to ready the chains. Eros - Arsonist: Son of Aphrodite, the winged God of Lust is playful and -almost- innocent. Wherever he sees the 'perfect match' he'll fire at will and let the games begin! But, even with generally good intentions, who knows what can happen with a loosely strung bow, or a gust of wind that blows arrows where they will.... Vanilla Mafia -Persephone Neutral Pan - Serial Killer: God of the Wilderness, friend to the shepherds, the Chaser of Nymphs is known to howl wildly when in pursuit. In the heat of the chase, Pan may forget who he's chasing, but he rarely misses the target, and he rarely forgets what to do with them once their caught.....

Oooh, I really like this theme. Though it's weird to see Zeus and Hades on the same side considering how many times I've seen Hercules. lol
I think giving the mafia both a roleblocker and a Mad Scientist might be a little much; as fond as I am of Hephaestus, I would change the MS to an arsonist.
Also, this has nothing to do with balance, but I think the theme might lend itself nicely to a mafia sympathizer instead of a vanilla mafia. A symp is a townie that wins with the Mafia and aims to contact and join them.
Also also what is a psychic? I'm not familiar with that role.

lol Contrary to popular belief (thank you ******** Disney), Hades was rarely the bad guy in any situation other than the one that got him his place in the Underworld. Hera was usually the b***h screwing everything up. xD
Okay. What's an Arsonist do?
Oooh, that could be funnnnana.
xD you're the one who put Psychic in the "advanced roles" of the Basics of Mafia game thread thing...It's a Vote-blocker.

Also, I'm toying with Other similarly themed games, that use Heroes vs. Monsters, Heroes vs. Gods, Lovers vs. Betrayed, all within the Greek Mythos.
And of course, using Other areas' mythic stories. The Celtic pantheon would lots of fun, and the Egyptian would be ******** up, but also sweet.

Yeah, we seldom use it, don't mind me I'm a space cadet. That's generally a role better suited to Mafia, since the town is very likely to shoot itself in the foot with it. Maybe that could be Mafia side instead of an Arsonist?
(We play Arsonists as a kill role, but with a 50% chance of backfiring and killing the arsonist along with his target.)
Also, I really like all of these mythological theme ideas. surprised How about Norse stuff?

Maybe put the mad scientist on the town side and a roleblocker, voteblocker, AND arsonist on the Mafia side, but only put two of those three roles in each instance of the game? That's what I'd suggest.

More roles in the list than are in play. Keeps everyone on their toes. Not to mention having all 3 of those on the Mafia side would just be ridiculous unless the game was huge.
Also, Arsonist is always Mafia side; town kill roles generally don't need a backfire because they can end up killing their own allies if they're dumb, which is a backfire in itself. xd
