The movies that are made into games usually mimicks the movie just alot more interactive. Do some of the games suck or not?
I have to say they suck ALOT! I mean they just ruin the movie. Like some of the Harry Potter games, So freakin repeatative. I can tell the future in those games. I see that I'm quiting the game 5 minutes from now. Tbe devs just do a poor job in those. The lego versions are ok.

I would agree that a vast majority of movie games (that are directly based off the movie) suck... only exceptions i can think of are Spider Man 2 and the James Bond games.

I don't think a game based off a movie must by definition be crap, just like I don't think a movie based off a game must by definition be crap. The problem is that in general, games that are made to go along with the movie have to be rushed and half-assed so that they can be released along with the movie itself. I also think the reason that most movies based on games are crap is that the people who make the movie don't have the same love for the content that the people who made the game had. They don't care if it totally breaks and deviates from the spirit of the original game and just put in whatever cliche'd crap they think might sell.

they would be good if ex: instead of following lotr exactly it let you make you own character and have you're own journey into morodor (pakistan). And I thinks something like a gow or halo movie would be epic.

A halo/gow movie would be epic as long as they don't deviate from the plots such as Eragon or the Resident Evil ones....

I think it's better when the movie based on a game is a sequel/prequel or an offshoot rather than making the game into a movie. This solves the problem of trying to press 40+ hours of gameplay into 2 hours. Or at the very least making a movie based off an open game with many choices, such as Dragon Age. With all the choices and different ways of going about the game the movie will have more leeway on how it plays out so fans can't b***h as much when everything doesn't go exactly how it was in the game.
Edit: Also I believe a movie that's animated or CG will always do better than live action... Live action tends to suck.

Although I do agree on the edit saying animated will be better... i've seen that in many cases. Halo Legends was good & I seem to remember Dragon Age and some other games having an animated series. (including Pokemon xD) Although i can think of one acceptation to this... i remember watching The Legend of Zelda anime and it sucked. lol

But I have to admit for me a series would be better than a movie, at least for RPGs. A series could cover a lot more than a movie can. Edit again: I found Halo Legends rather interesting and I don't even play Halo. The only Dragon Age thing I've found was the CG clip of Sacred Ashes, which was awesome. Too bad it was only like 5 minutes long. I think RPGs or anything fantasy needs to be done through CG or animated. FPS's like Call of Duty could possibly do live action correctly. But then again I'd have no interest in it since it's not my type of game or movie.

I agree that the vast majority of movie-based games are pretty... crap. But there are some exceptions for example: James Bond. The James Bond games are amazing, especially Goldeneye. Harry Potter games were fun, but I've only played about two games, so I can't judge. I played Narnia, which was alright. ¬_¬

I think they have potential to be good, but the execution is usually poor.
