Questionable Loiterer

Izaya told himself he should have been in bed hours ago. He should have been, but he couldn't He was a night owl, and this psychology manual Aila had given him had been particularly interesting. So interesting, in fact, that he had forgotten to eat until he looked up at his clock and realized how late it was.

Once at the cafeteria, the thin man grabbed a few things as he went down the line, his nose still in his book as he went. Orihara barely registered where he sat as he got himself a drink and picked a table at random. It was going to be one of those nights.

It was late, and he was lucky the Cafeteria was still open when he walked in, water logged and hair full of twigs and leaves. His pants were muddy, caked up to his knees, and his T-shirt clung unpleasantly. Some mud had managed to clung to the side of his sunglasses. He had made a Bee line for the coffee, low and full of grinds from a full day's use, the agent had grabbed a bowl of soup and the last of the hot food to try and warm it. It had been a mistake to not bring dinner too, expecially after hiking up to far and not having flight transport back due to a very moody Pidgeot.

Some poor grunt was going to hate him, or possibly a Trainee, as water had fallowed his path, as well as clumps of mud. The agent couldn't find the to care, his intent was more into the food until a thin male with his nose stuck in a book plopped down next to him. Only then did he stop forking food to his mouth, but only just barely. "Hello there." he said, before shoveling more food into his mouth.

Izaya looked up breifly to regard his addressee. The instant he did so, the trainee burst into loud giggles, making no effort to hide his amusement. "Hello," he greeted in turn once he had enough air to do so. "Would you mind me asking how you got clearance to enter the building?" he asked, his laughter dying down to snickers. "I wasn't aware they gave access to swamp monsters."

Laughter wasn't what he expected, but a slow smile snuck onto his face. "They don't. But they do steal them. You should have seen the monster I dragged in earlier. 30 feet long he was." He stole another bite, giving the Trainee a glance over.

"Eh? Steal what? Monsters?" The brunette chuckled, his crimson gaze falling to the twigs, mud, and leaves covering the other man. "And what sort of monster was this?" he asked musingly, curious. "A pocket monster, perhaps?"

"No, a swamp monster. Duh. How else do you think I got tall this swamp monster goo on me?" he pulled a particularly long twig out of his hair. "So what book is that? how to identify pokemon?"

Izaya grinned. "My mistake. Pardon me; I'm nothing more than a lowly trainee." Glancing down at his book, the crimson-eyed man raised his brows. "Mmm? Oh, this. It's a psychology manual. Required reading material given to me by my superior." He snickered. "She has a specific training course set up for me, so I have to do as she says while my bullet wound heals up." He jerked a thumb toward his back. "It's really very interesting, though. Can hardly tear myself away."

"Bullet wound? How did a trainee manage a bullet wound? I've been on the field under fire multiple times and I haven't managed to get one yet." he eyeballed the book, thinking it might be something Nadja would keep in her back pocket. It did look like it could be interesting. But books like that didn't lend much to application as far as he was concerned. People were too unpredictable.

Ah, he'd been wondering if the agent would catch that. It seemed besides slaying swamp monsters, the man had a good sense of deductive reasoning. "How wonderful for you! Unfortunately, I was stuck on a narrow stairway with a stubborn Rocket ahead of me and a bunch of officers behind. There wasn't much I could do do avoid the bullet, especially not while distracted with my sluggish companion." He sighed, smiling wearily. "I was a grunt up until a week or two ago. I simply got demoted on account of someone throwing a temper tantrum."
PostPosted: Wed May 04, 2011 1:19 pm

"Demoted?" He must have been out of the loop, then again, he had been off, training and focusing on working out his own missions. The former grunt must have been on a recent mission. "Temper tantrum? who demoted you?" Najda wasn't one to throw a temper tantrum, but Seth definitely was. If he had to put money on it... The other Elites and executives were a bit milder in nature, except the roomers he had heard about the short one.

"So you haven't heard then? I'm not sure I should tell you," Izaya mused, faking mock embarrassment. "It was just after that incident at the outpost. If you didn't hear about that, the police officers from Camphoreon broke into the outpost in the city and offered to let us go free in exchange for our dear traitor-slash-hostage-slash-celebrity, Lance. Of course they had no idea where we were actually keeping him, so they pretty much failed, but not all of us got away unscathed."

He grimaced, recalling the pain in his back. "I had barely healed when I met Seth on the tech floor. Evidently I said some things that offended him, because he slammed me up against a wall twice like a school bully - which, I can tell you, was not pleasant for my wounded back at all." Orihara smiled painfully. "He sentenced me to another two months in basic training and demanded I begin immediately. I just asked one more question, but he responded by throwing his Porygon-Z at me like a child and then demoting me!" Chuckling, the trainee shook his head.

"Well, after that, I was so offended I figured I didn't have much else to lose besides his threat to throw me in the brig. So I made some off-handed comment about the color of his complexion at the time - oh, how I wish I'd gotten a picture of that face of his - and ran off toward the brig on my own. Needless to say, he didn't like that at all." Izaya wore a huge grin and leaned back. "Paralyzed me with one of his other pokemon and dragged me to the brig the rest of the way. It took an agent to bail me out. I'm still not sure how she managed it."
PostPosted: Wed May 04, 2011 8:06 pm

At the mention of the brig, the agent, covered in mud, paled slightly underneath his tanned skin. "No, I hadn't heard much other then that there was a break in." this guy willingly Ran to the brig? Was he crazy?

"Sounds like you need to know when to quiet, irritating Seth when he's already agitated, bad idea. In fact, staying far away is generally a good idea. That goes for Nadja too.... though she is probably less hair trigger then Seth is." it still wasn't his fault. "So who bailed you out?"

Izaya must have noticed the pale bits of skin that weren't covered with mud, because he stated casually, "Ah, so you've been there too, have you? I didn't realize how horrible it was until I spent about a week in there. Maybe longer; I stopped counting after a while." He ran a hand through his hair. "I couldn't stomach what they gave me to eat, so I stopped trying. And that's nothing to say about the lack of sunlight and the unbearable boredom. Good thing I had my switch-blade, or I might have gone insane."

Chuckling at the agent's advice, he folded his arms behind his head. "That's what I've been told. Of course, that was only after I angered him; no one bothered to mention his temper beforehand. I had overestimated his maturity due to the fact that he was an executive agent. I'd wrongly assumed that he had more self-restraint than he did." Orihara smirked. "Haven't met this...'Nadja' person yet, though. Who's she?"

He closed his eyes with a peaceful smile. "Agent Aila. My recruiter. She and I go way back, you see. I knew her before she joined Team Rocket, back when she was a freelance thief with her own name for herself."

"So..." he remarked, opening his eyes and sitting up straight once more. "What did you get into the brig for? I'm assuming you angered this Nadja?"
PostPosted: Wed May 04, 2011 8:36 pm

For a moment he said nothing letting the in his mind, kid, ramble.

The further mentions of lack of sunlight cause a small frown on his face. "Actually, no, despite cleaning the entire building top to bottom, I've always avoided getting my self into the brig. I like sunlight, thankyou very much. Although I might have a fairly decent idea of what that would be like, I'd really rather not spend any time there." someone else on the other hand, that was a different story.

"Besides, I'm not sure who slipped, and forgot to mention Seth's anger, it's fairly common knowledge around here. Nadja is a red head, she got promoted around the same time as Seth.... humm." there was a thought there.

The name Aila perked his interest but he let it drop for now. "What is your name anyway? I do try and keep tabs on who is here."

"No?" He laughed. "I see. It's got that bad of a reputation around here, does it? I didn't really hear too much about it before my first-hand experience, either, except that they told us in basic training that it was one of the ultimate forms of punishment."

Taking a sip of his drink, Izaya listened carefully. "I guess there isn't much incentive to share said 'common knowledge', particularly when speaking of higher-ups. If they catch people at it, it might be considered just a tad bit rude, don't you think?" He smirked. "Red head, mmm? Thank you; I'll keep a look-out for her."

"Ah, pardon me. Trainee Nakura, now. And you are...?"
