Welcome to Hogwarts’ first annual egg hunt! Well, actually, it’ll be the only egg hunt in Hogwarts, as the only reason it’s even going on is because a few seventh years students begged and pleaded to be left in charge of something fun for the younger students. The first years, in fact.
In any case, the hunt is about to begin! So buckle down and prepare for some fun. This is the school of witchcraft and wizardry, after all, and things are anything but ordinary.
Anyway, with students in charge, you know they’re going to throw in a few surprises!
Ego Merriam is a seventh year in Gryffindor and the head of the egg hunt. If an egg explodes in your face, rolls off into the sunset, or steals some of the candy you’ve already collected, you know who to blame. But don’t worry- I’m sure not ALL of the eggs are going to cause you trouble. After all, Ego only wants to ensure you kiddies have as much fun as possible during your little egg adventure. Right?
Of course.
Sophie Calendar, meanwhile, is a much more level-headed and compassionate seventh year hailing from Ravenclaw. She will do her best to make sure you have fun and get some prizes to make all your efforts worth while. Be thankful she’s around- she’s more interested in helping you out than Ego.
Ego and Sophie are NPCs and will probably cease to exist once the event is over. They may be referenced in future RPs, but as characters, they’re only here to move the game along. Try not to get too attached! That said, both Sophie and Ego will be played by Cajanic and Cajanic ONLY during the run of the event.
- This event is open to anyone with a character. - You may play multiple characters in the RP, but only ONE may collect game eggs. - Characters may find enchanted eggs or normal eggs in the RP at your leisure, but they will not count for game totals unless they’re posted by me. - No character may hurt another character without permission. - These enchanted eggs will not BADLY injure characters, but they may cause some surprises! - No posting on mules, please. - If I find out you’re using two accounts to collect eggs, or cheating in any other way, you will be banned from this and any future RP events. - RPing between rounds is encouraged and will bring the rounds about quicker. - There may be few eggs, or TONS given in this thread, depending on activity. - You may join at any time during the run of this RP. - Collect as many eggs as you can in order to win some familiar prizes later on!
More notes will be added as they are needed. Please check back when requested. If you are bothered by something, ask in the main thread or PM me!
For now, I invite you to head out to the grounds- that’s where the hunt is taking set to start. Meet and greet the other characters, and wait for the first round to begin!

Usually, Quillan wasn't the type to participate in any sort of school-related event, but when it came to Easter, he couldn't help himself. Just the thought of bunnies laying eggs amused him beyond belief, and knowing Hogwarts, those rabbits were most definitely going to be doing so! Therefore, Quillan found himself at the grounds far earlier than he should've been, just waiting around for the anticipated hunt to start. He glanced around a few seconds and after seeing no one he recognized, plopped down on the ground and waited. The second he found someone he knew, he was planning on starting every sentence with "this reminds me of the hunt!" Quillan doubted anyone would appreciate it, but it was worth a shot!
With a soft smirk on his face, he scanned the masses of students entering the grounds. No one yet... hmm... I wonder if Dorian'll be here--or Moa! Watching her search for eggs would be a riot... Quillan imagined her flustered face, one that he knew so well, and grinned even wider. Now, if Dorian were to arrive, it probably wouldn't be as amusing, but satisfactory none the less! If either of them were in the mood to team up they'd be unstoppable! Where is my 'lil 'ol French bud? Now that he thought of it, he hadn't seen Dorian for several days now. He was beginning to miss his raging temper!
Quillan's eyes continued to scan the students, finding no trace of Dorian, Moa, or any of the other students he had come to know during the year.

Following the announcement of the easter event on the school lawn, Dorian had hung back as he watched everyone sail out the doors to get the perfect spot in which to start. He liked the idea of an egg hunt, but thought it a bit childish. After all the last time he had gone on an egg hunt he had been seven years old.
One of the teachers had caught him hiding in a hallway and had shooed him out to join everyone else and Dorian had no choice but to go. He scowled slightly as he went. Why did they have to force people to get involved? They should let those who wanted to sit out do as they wished. It would mean more eggs for those who wanted to participate. He sighed, and came to a stop at the back of the line in the middle of some second year students and tried to listen to what was being said.
Dorian shrank back behind a large second year when he saw Quill start looking around for people he knew. He didn't know why he was hiding, but he didn't quite feel like hanging out with Quill just yet. He rather needed a break from the slightly wild eyed copper head. That last ordeal was still too fresh in his mind to allow him to get involved with Quill just yet.

Ah? Was that green hair I just spotted? The grin stretched across Quillan's face, pulling as far as it could. Ahhhh, no! Move you gits! With a heavy sigh, he jumped up from where he was sitting, took a second to curse his height (seeing as he couldn't see over the crowd, even standing on his tippy toes) and swerved from one side to the other, trying to catch sight of the green hair he had noticed earlier. "DORIAN!" Quillan yelled, unsure if his friend was even there or not. It didn't hurt much just to yell--what was a few strange looks in his direction, anyway? It wasn't like he didn't get that all the time for sleeping in the halls or throwing food. "YO! DORIAN!" Quillan shouted again, tentatively approaching the large crowd of second-years, all of which seemed to be staring at him.
In that moment, one of them shifted their weight slightly to the other foot, enabling Quillan to see the spinach-colored hair. "DORIAN!" He exclaimed, prying the crowd apart with his hands. He trotted, making sure not to lose sight of his friend again. Huuuh, he doesn't seem to be noticing me... "DORIAN! HEY!" Quillan tried again, ramming through the group of students with more force than before. Finally, he managed to split the sea of people to stand before his Slytherin classmate.
"Jeez, bud! Are 'ya deaf or somethin'? I was yelling my head off and you didn't hear a word of it!--Gotta get those ears checked, if I were you," Quillan commented, a satisfied smile on his face. Finally! After an entire minute of searching, he had found someone to amuse himself with as he waited for the egg hunt to start. "I'm rather excited for this--I want to see all of Merriam's eggs! They'll be a total blast--most likely literally, mind you. Too bad we can't keep those ones, huh?"

Dorian could have sworn that someone was screaming his name. He blinked and looked around. "Merde," he muttered under his breath and prayed that the bloke in front of him wouldn't move. It was Quill..obviously he had caught sight of him somehow. Dorian wanted to aim a kick at the back of the second year's ankle for having shifted.
he closed his eyes again, and hoped that Quill would give up his search. Unfortunately he hadn't realized just how determined Quill was in wanting to locate him. Only moments later, Quill was standing in front of him jabbering away in that excited non stop chattering voice that Dorian found annoying.
"Sorry..I was lost in thought about something." Dorian found himself apologizing, not wanting to hurt Quill by telling him the truth. "I can see you are," Dorian murmured, shaking his hair out of his eyes and sighing lightly. "yeah, too bad."

Clarissa swung her bag back onto her shoulder, already starting to walk towards the grounds. Normally she wouldn't be into this childish egg hunt, but the seventh years had mentioned prizes. She wasn't greedy, but would not pass up a chance at a prize. Looking around at the other students, she noticed a redheaded slytherin boy she did not know, talking to another Slytherin boy she had met once, briefly. Best to size up the competition, rather than stand alone and wonder what was going to happen. "Hello." she said, keeping her expression neutral to encourage frendly conversation. "I'm Clarissa, I don't belive we've met."

Even though Dorian's greeting wasn't in the least bit friendly, it still managed to give Quillan a warm feeling, as if the other boy was just radiating friendship-waves. "Anywho, Dorian--what do you suppose are going to be in the eggs?" Quillan began, jabbering non-stop due to his immense amount of excitement. "I'm hoping that there'll be some fireworks or something! It would be mind-blowin', wouldn't it? I've heard about a dragon shaped firework--do you suppose there'll be rabbit shaped ones?" Quillan didn't give Dorian any chance to even reply, and if he did, Quill would've just talked right over him. It was only when he stopped to take a breath did a momentary silence shift over them.
"Happy Easter, by the way." Quillan began, having calmed down quite a bit in the interval. "Not as cool as Saint Patrick's Day, if you ask me, but it's definitely up there..." He gave Dorian a grin, hoping that any instant now his friend would spring up in the same excitement and thunder on about the egg hunt.
"To be honest, I'm glad you're here--I would've thought--I dunno, maybe... you wouldn't want to join in?" As he spoke, the words dawned upon him. Ah... Dorian really didn't seem like the type to come into the Easter hunt willingly, so why was he here? It wasn't like Quillan was complaining about it or anything, but he was curious. "Let me guess, one of the Professors caught you in one of your mediocre 'behind-the-book-shelf' hiding spots?" It was all beginning to make sense now!
Before Quillan could press the issue any further, a red-haired girl approached them. If she hadn't spoke, he wouldn't have given her a second thought. However, she did, and Quillan's head automatically snapped in her direction. "'Ello, I'm Quillan--it's nice to meet you!" He said quite robot-like. In fact, he hadn't realized the words were out of his mouth until his own ears registered them. Seconds after, his face erupted in a grin. "First-year, right? I think I might have you in one of my classes--though I could be wrong... everyone begins to look the same after a while."

Dorian had no clue how Quill found him friendly, when he was barely communicating to him as it was. Still..they were house mates and because of that Dorian felt rather obligated to nod and shrug his shoulders to what was spewing out of Quill's mouth.
Dorian felt a thrill of hope when he noticed the red head Clarissa coming towards them. Maybe if she got Quill's attention off of him, Dorian would have the opportunity to slip off unnoticed! But of course..Quill didn't notice her and thought Dorian had brightened up because of his last question.
"Well.." Dorian began only to be interrupted by Quill who was now getting closer to reality. Dorian sighed as Quill hit the nail on it's head. "Yes that's exactly what happened, Quillan." Dorian replied, his eye starting to twitch slightly. "Though it does sound rather interesting, I imagine the prizes will be galleons or candy. Perhaps even something rarer like a rare pet or something." Dorian guessed.
"Hello there Clarissa," Dorian replied giving the red head girl a faint smile of relief. "I'm Dorian. It's a pleasure to meet you." He said with a small bow of his head.

"Alright maggots!" Ego announced without much pause to gather the attention of everyone who had shown up for the games, "let's get this egg hunting under way, right? All you gotta do is survive!" That earned him a sharp pinch from Sophie, who took a step forward to speak with the younger kids.
"What he means is that you need to collect as many eggs as possible! That's really all these is to it- but do be careful. I'm sure My friend here has laid a few traps."
"What? I would never endanger fellow students!" Protested Ego quickly, the smirk on his face suggesting something other than sincerity.
"Be careful," Sophie urged, "and explore! The whole of the grounds is your battlefield. We'll call you over once things are done. Please, stay out of the forest!"
"For now," hummed Ego while Sophie was moving away from the crowd.

Dorian was relieved when Professor Ego shouted for attention, which made Quill's attention turn away from him. He crossed his arms and listened carefully. Did..did they say traps? Oh lord. This was definitely going to be interesting.
Dorian was relieved when the event started and the students dispersed all across the lawn. he took his time to look around and was surprised to find one egg nestled close by. He was a little surprised that no one else had spotted it, and went over to collect it.

When Merriam began to speak, he immediately captured the attention of everyone in the crowd--especially Quillan. For some reason, the moment he began talking, the younger boy began emulating him. Well--in truth, it started when he said the word "survive" but Quillan was emulating him none the less. However, a frown soon formed on his face when Calendar interrupted Merriam's genius with boring, instructional words. When Calendar reassured them that there wasn't anything dangerous, Quillan's frown deepened further. Did that rule out giant man-eating bunny fireworks? He had a feeling it did, but no matter. He kept hope.
Merriam took the reins again and before he knew it, everyone was on a mad dash to find eggs. Quillan wasn't an exception. He immediately dove into a bush as if it were a pool of six-feet water, tumbled a bit, before landing flat on back. "Whooaa..." He mumbled, a grin still on his face. This was exciting--though he was sure the rush of blood to his head was part of the reason. Without bothering to brush himself off, Quillan scowered the area for an egg.
Surprisingly, he came across one rather painlessly. It was light yellow and looked far too Muggle-ish for anything Hogwarts had in store for them. As he picked up the egg, Quillan ignored the frenzy around him. There were a few screams of terror which quickly died out. Bending down, Quillan grasped the lid of the egg and pulled it open. Please. Please. PLEASE be a fire-rabbit! He hoped to himself before prying the lid completely off.

Ezra leaned against the wall, listening to the two seventh years. What was this he had walked into? 'I really need to start waking up at the same time as the other students..' He thought, paying close attention to the words of the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor before him. He chuckled when he finally realized what was going on. "Easter egg hunt? Awesome," He commented quietly. Looking around out the other students participating, he didn't recognize any of them.. except one. That lousy Slytherin who thought he could get away with theft once! Ezra gave him a blood nose for his crime, of course, but the boy still bugged him.
Hearing that the event had started, Ezra decided to simply avoid the devious first year and instead go look for eggs. With a sigh he walked lazily around the fields, looking casually at all the eggs. Spotting one particularly bright coloured one wedged between the shoulder and head of a statue, he jumped up to grab it. "This was so obvious.. it's got to be a trap," He snickered, waiting for something bad to hit him.

Ezra winced, holding the egg as far away from him as possible. A few seconds passed and nothing happened. Frowning, Ezra brought the egg close to his face to expect it. "Huh.. just a normal one hey? Sweet!" He exclaimed happily, pocketing the egg and looking around a the results of the others. 'I really hope that Slytherin kid gets a trap.' He thought with a smirk. The boy probably deserved it some how.

But before he could take the shell of the egg, it turned gewy. Ehhh!? Quillan watched in amazement as the yellow egged turned a strange green color as it turned to sticky mush in his hand. "DORIAN!" Quillan exclaimed, keeping the mush in his hand as he ran over to where his friend had been staying. "What do you supp--" Before the rest of his words could come out of his mouth, the green mush began morphing. After making several sloshing noises, a bunny, looking like it was made out of that jello stuff that Quillan's cousin enjoyed so much, appeared. "Do you suppose I could keep it?!"
The answer was obviously no. The bunny jumped up onto Quillan's face and splattered as if a giant water-balloon. Quillan had just managed to close his eyes in time to avoid getting the green liquid in his eyes, however, his mouth remained slightly ajar. It tastes like earwax! He spat a bit, trying to get rid of the taste from his mouth. However, the mess seemed to be getting bigger and bigger until a large puddle of viscous liquid was at his feet. After the liquid had finished thoroughly drenching Quill, he turned to Dorian, "This. Is. Amazing!" He exclaimed, "Now gimme a hug!" going for the boy with open arms.

Dorian felt reluctant to open the egg, and was going to put it in his pocket when he heard his name screamed from across the lawn. Dorian sighed, and turned to see Quill running towards him with a mushy morphing thing in his hands. Obviously..Quill had gotten a prank egg.
"Quill..don't bring that over here, keep it to yourself!" Dorian cried, backing up and putting his hands in front of him and dropped the egg he had been holding.
The mush exploded and splattered all over Quill, some of it flying over onto Dorian's annoyed face. "What the heck were you thinking? I don't want your eggs!" He hissed, as he tried to clean the goop off of his face.
That was when he noticed the egg he had dropped had began to sputter and spin around on the ground. Dorian's eyes widened and he backed up. "Not now Quill!" He cried and tried to get away from the now furiously spinning egg and at the same time trying to evade Quill's arms. Dorian tripped and the egg burst open, spewing a water geyser all over him and Quill, drenching them completely down to their skivvies.
"Well..at least mine got you somewhat clean." Dorian muttered, spewing some water out of his mouth.
