Kay i know how this sounds... when i heard it, i swear some of my brain cells exploded at the shear stupidity it, but my lecture professor seems to think it carries some truth. Heres the thorey... Zeus is the father figure, so that makes Cronos the Grandfather figure... to the romans the grandfather figure was joly and kind yet the father figure was more stern. Festivals for Cronos aka Saturn where big happy celebrations and still go on today in the form of christmas... Ive never thought that myself (honsetly it seems alittle weird) but my lecturer seems to think that over time this happy, joly guy that apperently used to be cronos has turned into santa...

Wait, I coud've sworn Jupiter was Zeus and Saturn was Cronus...

Not sure whether I'm mistaken or not. Off to the library! :3 lols... *hides face in shame* i know... i always get the two mixed up for some reason! i know, i know it but i just type the worng name! lol! i dont know why... lolz anyways i think he thinks that the festival that was taken over by the christian christmas (which was Saturns) has transformed saturn into santa... I dont know it sounds stupid to me! lol

I used to pronounce Hermes extremely wrong; it sounded similar to a certain infection...

Yeah. That was a mistake. Hermes does have the same pronunciation as Herpes. Unless you mean you actually pronounced it 'Herpes' - in which case, nevermind.

Christmas was intentionally celebrated late in the year to usurp traditional winter festivals, and Saturnalia was indeed one of these. But as far as Santa Claus having a connection to Saturn/Cronus, there really is nothing anywhere to support that.

Mylian Christmas was intentionally celebrated late in the year to usurp traditional winter festivals, and Saturnalia was indeed one of these. But as far as Santa Claus having a connection to Saturn/Cronus, there really is nothing anywhere to support that. That and the holiday Yule, practiced by the Norse.

I've watched tons of Documentaries on The History of Christmas and some actually do say that santa was derived from Cronus.
