Oh my god, that's so sad....and of course, I had to think of my fiance, so now I'm crying....

I don't believe in god, but I feel if someone's going to die, they're going to die, and it's not my place to make their death any quicker, just as painless as possible. My mom's pretty healthy right now, but she's made it clear to me and my sister that she wants to be a DNR, and I know someday I might have to say no, don't keep her alive any longer.

For those who don't know, DNR means "Do Not Resuscitate;" Basically it means that they don't want to be brought back if their heart or respiratory system (lungs) fail.

And the story is quite sad. sad

Wow.

That's... that's so sad.

It's difficult to think that people don't give a s**t about their child, whereas this woman did everything, ******** EVERYTHING so that her child could live as long as he could.

And people say that life isn't something that should be entitled to people.

Oh, that's so sad... but at least she has one of her beautiful twins still left. She should have gotten better with what she went through, Lee should have been able to live.

This is from my own spirituality I'm sure, but if I was pregnant with an acephalic child, I would carry to term just so that that child could experiance life as much as possible, and so that his soul would know that he was loved and wanted by his mother. I know medically and biologically there is no basis for my feelings but I believe that feeling love transends a mental state. Perhaps that is just me being idealiogical but it is how I feel.

oh my God that's horrible, that one doctor who specializes in killing late term pregnancies- some for simple things, like a messed up kidney...

Oh, WHY do I continue to read things that I know are going to make me cry!? Damn! crying

I'm not sure how I would react if I was in their shoes, I'm fairly certain that I would do everything possible to make my baby's life as long and comfortable as possible. I know that a lot of people would disagree with me for doing that, but I'd want to have as much time with my baby as I could! cry

I can't understand the logic in having a late-term abortion with the twin with the health problem, and then dressing up and taking pictures of the baby who's life you ended before he even had a chance! It's just morbid! eek

Can you please tell me where in this post we were all, "OMG they tried to get her to abort!"

Or where we got angry at the mother?

Why is it that everything needs to be a battle and there can't be you know, just ONE THING that we like because possibly, just POSSIBLY we respect the beauty of life and the struggle the mother went through?

I'm sick of this. Akshamala finds this beautiful, touching article that has everything to do with life, nothing to do with fighting over abortion, yet since it's in this guild, it MUST be about abortion rights and how women must not have a choice to do anything!

This is making me so angry.

ah, you saw the thing in the pro-choice guild?

and one of them said that it would hurt to much to have a child with a disease like that- it would be too much for HER to bear...

no, THAT isn't selfish at all, not giving a human life a chance, however small it is, simply because YOU can't handle the fact that it might not turn out well...

probably not making much sense right now, i'm sick and kinda woozy, maybe i'll be coherent tonight confused

And one of them called it selfish. But I'm just wondering, did anyone say, "OMG THEY TRIED TO FORCE HER!!!!" I can't see that anywhere. I'm wondering whether she thought we said that or she just wanted to stir up trouble?
