It has been awhile since Gir had left Dra's home and followed the thief half way across town. Their encounter had been fun....at least for him. The thief was dead, having killed himself rather than deal with more of Gir's magic. He found himself lost, in an area unknown to him and not filled with the nicest of people. Most gave him a wide berth, fearing his magic, while others tried to drive him off. In the end Gir made his way to a caravan he knew of and had disappeared with it. He missed his Lady. He missed his candy which Dra still had.
Now he was back in the area, having returned with another caravan. The streets were always different yet the same. New shops, new families, but always the same stones and attitudes. Gir had grown very little since disappearing, maybe a few inches taller. His clothes had grown worn and ragged again but he hadn't lost any weight. Which meant he was still getting enough food. But he was alone now. No Lady to take care of him. But could take care of himself. He always had. So the illusionist walked/danced/sauntered down the alleys where many homeless drow and thieves lived.

Twi'leit awoke from a fitful sleep at the sound of footsteps entering the alley that he had holed up the day before. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his hands and peered out from behind the trash can he had pulled to hide him from sight. His eyes grew round with astonishment at the strange garb that the small drow was wearing. But that wasn't what kept him focused on the fellow.
It was the hair. Twi propped himself up and grinned. Now that was some awesome hair! The fellow had half of his head shaved and the other half was really long. Twi had never seen such an interesting hair style before. His brightly colored, albeit dingy clothes also made him look like a fun fellow.
Twi noticed, nearly too late several homeless drow start to follow after the other drow with daggers and shivs drawn. Twi bolted from his spot with a loud scream, causing everyone in the alley to cringe and fall back as he ran by. Twi looked back over his shoulder in triumph to see the two drow that had started to go after the interesting fellow fall back with annoyed looks on their faces. One of them even gave Twi a rude gesture, which just made him chortle in amusement.
The next moment, Twi connected with the back of the other with a loud thump and fell back on his backside. Twi gulped and hoped the other wasn't going to hurt him.
"Uh, sorry. I didn't mean to run into you." Twi squeaked, drawing an arm across his face in case he need to defend himself from the other.

Gir had seen the other drow following him. But he just let on that he didn't notice them. That was part of the game. He could feel them approaching, typical theives, coming from behind. Thinking he might have money. He didn't even have candy! Mmmm, candy would be good right now. He had vague memories of a bag of unfinished candy. But his thoughts were shattered by the shrill of a small drow running up behind him. Then he felt the drow run into him. He fell foward and rolled like a bowling ball down the alley and smashed into trash cans. There was an explosion of trash and then the trash turned into butterflies as they flew off.
Right behind the boy Gir smiled. That looked like fun. He wished he could really do that. But sadly he couldn't roll more than two times before sprawling out. He looked down at the drow who had bumped him. He was just a kid, half Gir's age or less. By the look of his clothes he was obviously houseless. Ah a fellow brother! And his hair was sooooo pretty! He reached out and touched the red streaks in the boys hair. Was it blood? It looked liked blood. But the kid wasn't hurt?

Twi'leit stared in surprise to see the strange spectacle happen in front of him. But how could trash turn into butterflies? Was that really possible? Twi scratched his head and was surprised when his hand touched another hand. He went completely still and was surprised when the hand merely played with his hair.
Finally he looked up and was a bit surprised to see the colorfully dressed drow standing over him looking down at him.
"Oh, how did you get there?" Twi asked in confusion. For as much as Twi had seen in his short life, he had never encountered anything as magical as this fellow before. A thrill of suspense went through him as he carefully eyed the other closely.
"Are you a magician?" he asked not being able to keep the excitement out of his voice.

Gir giggled as the boy looked at him with wide eyed amazement. He inspired that in lots of young drow. But usually their mothers or nannies pulled them away before Gir could play with them. Gir loved to play with kids, they had more fun with his illusions than he did most of the time. This boy was no exception. The older drow smiled just as wide as the other. Up close Gir was more interesting. He had a slightly gaunt look, one of someone who didn't get meals every day. His hair was a little dirty but the shaven side was kept neat and trimmed.
"Gir is not a magician. Gir is magical but not a magician. Gir makes you see things that aren't there," he giggled.
He took a seat next to the boy and waved his hand over a piece of trash. He sprouted legs and arms then started to dance for them. Gir laughed and clapped as his trash danced, seeming to make other trash it touched come to life as well. Soon there was a trash ballet in the small area of the alley. Most other drow moved away, suddenly realizing who the drow is.
"Thats Gir! We've got to get out of here!"
"I thought he left the city?"
"Yeah after that theif...."
"Well he's back, come on! Lets go!"

Twi'leit beamed back at the fellow and sat up slightly to look at him more closely. He sure was funny sounding, but that didn't bother him one bit. Normally the older drow would leave him alone, This one actually seemed interested in him. Which could lead to some fun entertainment.
"Oh, okay! I'm Twi'leit." Twi replied. "Gir is a cool name."
Twi was astonished and overjoyed to see the trash sprout legs and arms and begin to dance around. Twi laughed and joined Gir in laughing. "That's soo cool!" he exclaimed excitedly.
He didn't even hear what the other drow in the alley were saying and with his attention so focused on the amazing spectacle before him it most likely wouldn't have even raised any alarms in his mind.
"What else can you do?" Twi asked eagerly.

Gir, however, did hear the others talk. But it wasn't anything he wasn't use to. They always talked about him, it was part of the reason he spoke the way he did. Gir this and Gir that. So Gir was this and that. He side glanced at the retreating figured and giggled a bit before turning back to the child.
"What can Gir do? Hmm, Gir does not know. Gir doesn't do anything. Things just happen," he shrugged a bit. He didn't understand his own powers enough to manipulate them. Only in extreme emotion such as anger, pain, fear, and happniness could he control anything. Of course that is when he was his deadliest. A magic school, one across town, had felt the full brunt of his fear. His anger was worse.
"Where does Twi live? Does he live here?" Gir looked around at the alleyway. He remembered sleeping in places like this. A distant memory, of a warm bed and a soft motherly voice flitted through his mind. It came and went without much notice to him but his memories were still there. He knew someone here. He missed someone here. But who was it?

Twi glanced back when he saw Gir look back and giggle. He frowned slightly at the retreating figures but didn't say anything about them. Adults were just strange to him. He never could understand how or why they acted the way they did.
Twi was surprised that Gir didn't know how his magic stuff happened. It seemed a bit strange but he it didn't really bug him that much. "Ok, that's different." Twi replied.
Twi's gaze followed Gir's as he looked around the alley. "I don't really live anywhere. I sleep where ever I can find a corner that's free." He replied.
He was due back to the Master to hand in his weekly treasures but had already decided not to do it until later. He didn't think the Master would like Gir all that much and he wasn't ready to leave the fun loving Gir just yet.
"Want to do something fun? We could go pull pranks on random drow in the marketplace. That's always a lot of fun!"

"Gir doesn't live anywhere either. Gir and Twi are homeless. That is good, because Gir understands. Gir knows a warm place. Tonight Gir will take you there for sleeping," he smiled. He liked his new little friend. He didn't think he was weird! But then the boy said the words Gir loved to hear next to candy. Pranks!!! Gir loved pranks!
"Gir likes pranks! Lets go to the market and play pranks!" he stood up suddenly and held his hand out to the smaller child. He giggled gleefully, much like anyone Twi's own age would. He was a bit more childish around this boy, mostly because he tried to match his age.
"You can be like Gir's little brother. Gir has no brothers so Twi can be that! Gir and Twi! Twi and Gir! twigir!!" he burst into giggles at his creation as he walked towards the market. Once there he sat on a barrel and looked about. He wondered who would want to play with them.
"What does Twi think? Who should we play with?"

Twi wasn't too surprised to hear that Gir was homeless. What with the dirt that was encrusted on his clothes and on his face it was rather easy to figure that out. Twi was rather excited to hear that Gir had a place where they could sleep. he'd never had a friend that had shared a sleeping space with before so that would be a nice change.
Twi's eyes danced at Gir's words and took the offered hand with a small cackle of his own. "Pranks are the best!" He crowed in delight. "This will be epic fun!" he exclaimed gleefully as they made their way out of the alley.
Twi was even more pleased when Gir offered to let him be his little brother. That definitely appealed to him. he'd never had need of an older brother, but he knew that it would definitely be amazing if Gir were an older brother to him. Plus they could get in as much mischief as they wanted!
"I'd love to be your little brother!" He cried happily, swinging Gir's arm as they walked into the marketplace. He waited until Gir was up on the barrel before he climbed up after him, standing behind him with his arms wrapped around Gir's neck as he surveyed the crowd of drow for a victim.
"Hmm.." Twi murmured his eyes flickering over the gathering drow. "Maybe that fat guy that's over by the baker's tent, he looks like he'd be a fun one to mess with." Twi said with a small giggle. "I bet he's got lots of gold in that fat purse of his." he said pointing to the jiggling coin purse the drow was pulling out of the inside of his tunic.

Gir was so happy. He had a little brother! They both could walk, hand in hand, laugh together, he didn't even mind Twi leaning against his back with his arms around his neck. Leaning against him, Twi could now feel how skinny Gir was. He did get food but not as much as he'd like, much like Twi he supposed. His dark skin showed a bit through his shaven hair. There was even a small scar where hair did not grow on the boy's head. A scar event of the fall he had taken as a infant, which lead to his eventual insanity.
Sadly Gir was not a thief. He never stole money from the people he played pranks on, other theives did. Though most tossed him coin or two from their take just for being such a good distraction. Other times he was just given food or clothes just so he would go away. It was a life he had always lived.
But the fat man did look so fun! His big ol'belly! Gir wound Twi's arms from around his neck and stood up. He turned and winked to the boy before he suddenly disappeared. But just for fun, he let his foot prints continue to show in the dirt as he walked towards the fat man. Gir came near the shop and stared as the man sought to buy some sweets for his lady. Suddenly the food fell from his hand.
"Oh my! Seems I'm a bit butter fingered!" he laughed a bit as he reached for another. This one jumped away from him like it was alive.
"What the! Sir! What is the meaning of this?"
"Uh..I..Uh...don't know sir.." the poor shop keeper looked frazzled.
Sudden all the food sprang forth and began to crawl all over the drow. He let out a very unbecoming howl and flailed about as the food tackled him. His pouch flew from his hand in Twi's direction, landing in the dirt unnoticed due to the commotion of the fat man.

Twi eyed the scar on Gir's head but didn't say anything about it. He knew better than to comment on such things. He was rather surprised to feel how skinny Gir was, he had thought him to be a little more well taken care of than that. Still Twi kept silent, it wasn't something he would have talked about any way.
Twi was rather surprised when Gir reached up and wound his arms around his neck and then stood up. Twi had never gotten a piggie back ride before and didn't quite understand it. Still he liked being this high up and giggled quietly in Gir's ear when he saw Gir's feet disappear. Now that would be a funny sight to see! Two people floating across the ground without any feet in sight! Twi didn't even understand that the two of them had gone invisible.
Twi almost bust out laughing when the man dropped some food but was able to stifle it into Gir's neck. Twi was nearly close to bursting from merriment when the food began to crawl all over him. It was so hilarious! He wished he didn't have to hide his merriement and could laugh until his sides hurt. Twi saw the pouch fly from the man's hand and instantly sprang down and retrieved it in a flash. Then he quickly turned to go back to Gir and didn't see him anywhere.
Twi looked around in confusion wondering where his friend had gone. "Gir? Where'd you go?" He called out in a small voice, hoping not to catch anyone's attention. Then he remembered the gold pouch and stuffed it into his shirt and covered his chest with his arms so no one would notice it.

Gir had disappeared since Twi had disengaged from him. His illusions only worked around him unless he was focused on someone. He was still playing with the fat man, enjoying a hardy laugh with the rest of the crowd as the food got smushed as he rolled around. When Twi's small voice reached his ears he turned and began walking back to him. The illusions quickly stopped and the crowd began moving agian. Sudddenly Gir appeared before Twi, frightening a few others. Suddenly whispers began going through the crowd that the mad illusionist had returned.
"Gir is here. Lets go," he smiled and took the boy's hand and began to lead him away.
"Hey! You! Gir I should have KNOWN it was you!" the bakery shop glared at the illusionist. He had driven off good business since the male worked for a high house. The baker started towards them but Gir was too fast for him. He grabbed Twi and twirled, the sand around them blew up and created a shield. Gir snuck them back into an alley and giggled.
"I remember him. I made his roth steak dance."

Twi was starting to slightly panic. Any moment now and someone would notice the fat drow had lost his pouch and point it out. Then people would be looking for who might have taken it. Twi nervously shoved his hands under his armpits and glanced this way and that trying to find where Gir had gone.
Even though the male was going crazy and rolling around in the food, Twi couldn't even crack a smile at the sight. He was desperately afraid that he had lost his new friend. Surely Gir would find him and they'd be able to get out of here before someone snatched him!
Twi was immensely relieved when Gir suddenly appeared in front of him and took one of his hands from him. Twi held his other arm across his chest to keep the pouch from slipping out of the top of his tunic.
"I thought I had lost you!" Twi explained, releasing a huge sigh of relief.
Twi's ears caught the words of the baker causing him to turn and stare at him. Good gods, how could anyone become so ugly in such a short span of time? Twi wondered in horror. He was happy when Gir grabbed him, and hightailed it out of the marketplace leaving everyone hacking up mouthfuls of sand.
"That was close," Twi observed. "I bet they'll be eating sand for days!" He added giggling. "What next?"

Gir giggled as they made their escape. He was having so much fun! It was rare he had a good friend since most adults couldn't stand him for that long. He hugged his new friend. He felt the bulge in the boy's shirt and poked it.
"What is that? Did Twi suddenly gain weight?"
At the question of what they would do next his stomach gave a growl. Having been around all that food had made Gir hungry but he wasn't so mad that he thought he could go back to the bakery shop they had just pranked. They would need to go somewhere else.
"Gir thinks we should eat," he nodded.
