Well, I have a question. It rises and sets during THE DAY. Why? I usually like seeing it at night. I just tend to gaze at it for relaxation.
I know the Moon turns new on the third of February. Has this got something to do with it?

I know the Moon turns new on the third of February. Has this got something to do with it? Because of the difference between the orbit of the moon around the earth and the speed the earth rotates- each phase of the moon rises and sets in a certain time in relation to our time of day.

Agreed. And when it's the full moon, I think it rises and sets at sunset and sunrise (saw it once, it was massive and awesome biggrin ). And yes, right now it is because on the 3rd it's the new moon. It's rising and setting times are different and even when it's in the sky it's not necessarily going to be visible right now due to the phase.

But all this scientific stuff... I think it's more mystic than it seems. The moon is just so magical.

I don't find the moon particularly magical. It's lovely, certainly, and the gravitational pull does have quite the effect on the Earth and people, but I don't consider that magic at all. Magic has to be created.
