Class Syllabus

Magical Mishaps
Class: Magic ( Introductory )
Teacher: Baxterfullous Von Montegue

The purpose of this introductory class is to help young mishaps by educating and eventually help them begin to master the art of magic.Through this introductory course we will go over:

• The 10 Alignments
  
• Alignment Combinations
  
• The Safety Cycle
  
• Introductory Spells
  
• Range and Ability
  
• Magical Tools
  
• Magical Plants
  
• Magical Symbolism and Dreams
  
• Introduction to Potions and Potion Making
  
• Introduction Into the History of Magic
  
• Magical Vocabulary
  
• Magical Defense and Aids
  
• Introductory Dueling
  
• Introduction to Different Types of Magic ( which will be separted into different lesson depending on the variation of magic )
  

I will grade assignments on completion, determination, and effort. Talent and capability are pluses, but I do not grade soley on that. Also, failure is not an option, if students are failing my course I will personally tutor them after school until their grades show an dramatic improvement.

Not only besides that, I will not tolerate failure with other classes. If I do not see improvement, I will personally see to it that students get the proper attention.

Each lesson is separated into two halves. The first half of the lesson is a lecture, while the second half is a hands on lab. Between the halves there is a thirty to 40 minute break that will be used for either eating and other act of leisure and reflection of the lesson ( I use this time to prepare the class for the lab ). Classes run from 2 to 2 and a 1/ 2 hours long ( this is including the break ).

Fifteen minutes of silent reading will be done at the begginning of class while I grade homework and prepare for the lecture.

Classroom Rules

• No running inside the classroom.
  
• All homework assignments are to be turned in before class.
  
• All assignments are to be turned in by the end of class , unless otherwise noted.
  
• You are not to leave class without permission
  
• Do not take equipment out of the classroom unless otherwise given permission.
  
• The potion supply closet is off limits without supervision. ( I have the key. )
  
• The Controlled Enviroment is not to be entered unless given permission.

Supply List

The supplies I have listed below are required:

• 1 binder w/ dividers ( for classnotes and work, there will be a divider for each subject we will go over)
  
• extra paper
  
• 2 Pens ( blue or black )
  
• 2 pencils ( at minimum )
  
• 1 eraser ( at minumum )
  
• 1 sharpener
  
• 1 box of colored pencils
  
• 1 box of crayons
  
• 1 box of paints
  
• 2 paintbrushes (at minimum )
  
• 1 box of chalk
  
• 1 chalk holder
  
• 3 blank notebooks
  
• 1 Sketchbook
  
• Reading Material ( anything deemed inappropriate will be confiscated or incinerated )
  

Items that will be provided to students, but are required to bring every lesson:

• 1 pair of thick protective gloves
  
• 1 Lab Apron
  
• 1 pair of Lab Goggles

Parental Consent Form

A consent form is needed for certain labs, such as potion making. Certain herbs are a bit dangerous if not handled correctly and we will be dealing with open flames, all labs are supervised and need parental consent.

Classroom Room Description

The Magic Room looked larger than it shoul have, but who could expect anything in the MM HQ to look how it seems.

The walls are painted a deep blue color with celtic moon patterns, with black trimming lining the floor. The floors are made of stone, and the ceiling has been painted to look like the night sky with the center peice being the moon shaped lantern in the middle that can be adjusted to be bright to a dull dim.

Walking into the class room, to your left is a slighlty raised platfrom with a large desk with a blackboard that spans the length of the wall. Next to the teacher's desk is a door marked 'Potions Ingridients', besides that door is another one marked 'The Control Enviroment'. Looking forward you would see two long tables one behind the other. Sixe chair lined each table. Every two chairs, there is a latch in the table that displays a small compartment foor school supplies.

Ten feet beyond the two long desks is a raised nook, and stairs. Going up the stairs leads you to a large cauldron in the middle of a magic circle. Beyond that is half wall leading to a small washroom with a apron and towel rack.

The Controlled Enviroment

The Controlled Enviorment is a pentagon shaped room, with a raised large circular platform ( about 8 to 9 feet in daimeter) in the middle, with a pentagram enscribed on it and stairs that lead up to it. It has a few things for studying, like a fireplace and a few caldrons. A bason with a water facet and a table meant for potion making. The raised platform is enchanted. Best example of explanation: If Diemos were to stand in the middle of the pentagram and were to cast a fireball and send it hurdling towards a wall it would come to a halt against a invisible wall that encircles the top of the platform.
