Wow... Just wow. In a college discussion someone called Muhammad a sham. Their reasoning is that he could not read or write, he merely recited what Allah had told him. Well duh! Allah told him "you will recite this". How does this make a person a sham?

Also, how disrespectful if that? I may not be Christian, but I won't tell a Christian Jesus was a fake. I will debate with them what I believe, but I will not directly insult them and their religion. I won't go tell a Jew David was a joke. Or a Buddhist that Buddha was a fat lazy dude. Those examples don't even apply to me because I don't believe them, but still... How rude.

“This is America, where a white Catholic male Republican judge was murdered on his way to greet a Democratic Jewish woman member of Congress, who was his friend. Her life was saved initially by a 20-year old Mexican-American gay college student, and eventually by a Korean-American combat surgeon, all eulogized by our African American President.” –Allen Ginsburg

College students are jackasses. They can afford to and privileged to be such. Most grow out of it. There's hope.

Well it's rediculous... I mean there are many people in my classes that are a bit older, like 30 and over, but this person is actually only a year younger than me, has a 2 year old and all too... I don't know about some people, but having my daughter changed my view on things, a lot.

Yeah it is. I don't disagree with you. Unfortunately some people don't grow up even after having a child. What sucks even worse is that the child picks up on this and the "cycle" continues.

I know! And that drives me nuts when people, who aren't even mature enough to take care of themselves or don't even make an effort to grow up teach their kids bad habits.

Yup. And this is why our world is going downhill... Well at least America is... But it is bad because kids will pick up habits from others, but their parents either will not correct it or will not see it

Well what do you expect. We as a society encourage non-involvement, regarding any sort of teaching that is not state endorsed as "indoctrination",or "brainwashing", a disposable consumer culture, and define progress by how much income one makes. But my complaints aren't anything new. It's the same complains that have been made since the Roman Empire

*nod* Chinese deity named Budai whom became a Buddha, but not the original Buddha in the sense of Siddhartha Gautama.

But that just adds to her point, that such ideas expressed are based on mistaken perception.

Yea. The one I know of is the one who sat under the tree and became enlightened. So Buddha means "awake". If I'm wrong, then please correct me.

Well, it isn't only like that in America but also in Europe.
I know atheists who call you stupid when you believe in a deity or supernatural things. I know a story of a classmate of mine who told me that her mother went to her own confirmation with bare feet and torn pants.
I don't think that it's okay to do so because you hurt the feelings of other people. For them it's an important event.
But I think there are more conflicts between atheists and religious people than only between religious people who believe in something different, here. Well, in my area it's like that. I'm not sure if it's different in some other city or country.

Wow. That's pretty disrespectful. Especially for a mom... O.o

It is funny though, the person who agreed with me that they were being disrespectful is atheist. A pagan and an atheist telling Christians they are being rude... Hm... Yup, the world's going to hell.
