"Knowledge is power."
User ImageHeight: 5'1"
Hair: Dark Red - Long and usually left down loose. Sometimes pulled back and styled.
Eye colour: Brown-Green Mismatched (Left Green, Right Brown)
Skin colour: Light tanned with a golden glow from magical reservoir
Build: Petite (32 Bust)

Appearance: Evelyn does not understand how guys can fawn all over her since she appears to be very petite and youthful. When attending different courts, most of the more voluminous women were seen with several men at their sides (according to her judgment). She stands an inch over five feet and is properly proportioned for her height. Her silhouette has a slight hourglass figure. She has (what she considers) a small chest but nothing that makes her appear top heavy (equivalent to 32A). Her hair comes down to the small of her back in a dark shade of red and is sickly straight when she leaves it down. But she is known to put it up depending on the era. She is rather proud of her eyes, one of the few features she likes. They have a slight exotic slant to them and the iris appear as two different colors. The left is mostly green with hints of brown (hazel) and the right is brown with small traces of green.

When she was younger she tried very hard to scrub away the “angel kisses,” very light freckles that are powdered on her cheeks just beneath her eyes. Often she jokes that the slight inward sway of her back is perfect for a man’s hand when she has been forced to join a dance at court. She is also proud of her long legs that are nicely toned from horse back riding over the centuries. A pleasant glow emits from her lightly tanned skin giving her a very soft appearance.

Clothing Style: She dressed to fit the fashion of the era as well as position. Typically she picks colors that either enhance her eyes or hair. Her most common accessories are her trinity necklace and wedding band. Sometimes, she will compliment them with other jewelry.

During the times that she must pick up her sword, Light-Bringer, she will put on her full plated armor with dark green trim. She felt encumbered by the shoulder plates and had them switched from the metal to black leather. Sometimes she finds it necessary for a full enclosed helmet with horse hair as the plume. When she must travel long distances she will drape a crimson cap over her shoulder for the cold nights.

Weapon of Choice: Light-Bringer is a smaller version of a long sword with a blade that reaches three feet. Her father, Amandos, forged the sword so it was lighter for her feminine strength. It would feel almost weightless to a skilled warrior. The hilt is designed with ancient Aenkleus runes said to give strength to the wielder. Since the blade was carefully crafted, it appears to glow a very soft blue as if guiding the swordsman to their target. The sword is not the only weapon Evelyn is proficient.

When she travels, she typically takes with her a quarter staff that was a gift from her mother. It is made of an oak that stands about four and a half feet tall. It has an intricate design at the top that can hold different stones or gems. The staff acts as a medium that helps focus her abilities and even enhance her powers.

There are three daggers she conceals on her person as well. The hilt of each one has lace work knots like that of the Celts. The blades are eight inches long with Elven runes etched on the surface. The runes are for accuracy, deadly strike, and the individual names of each dagger: Nemesis, Cratos, and Apate. Each is used for a specific duty but is well taken care of so they will not break or rust.
*Design Note: You are free to design Evelyn's clothing and weapons*

Powers: -will explain eventually-

Personality: Neutral Good Evelyn’s first impression makes her seem stiff and calculating. This often causes others to stay far away from her. Most have even thought she is of noble blood. Her attitude is done on purpose to analyze the reactions of those around her. Only those she has allowed to get close really know her true nature.

She is a secretive person mostly because she is an Aenkleus (humans and Aenkleuses were often in disputes) and her long life. She can hide the pain of the world with a smile and an unreadable look in her eyes. She can deftly change the topic of conversation when it is too personal. If someone is persistent, she hides behind bland statements or historical facts.

Though she can go on for hours with her studies, she can be quite humorous once she is comfortable. Her laughter and smile have been called infectious by a few. But the most notable part of her personality is her compassion and loyalty. She feels empathy for any stranger’s sad story (but don’t tell her that) though she hides it all behind her research. Evelyn is not the most trusting of others, but once it is earned she will defend them to their last breath.

Incomplete - Rough Draft

Aenesidemus , Greek skeptic philosopher, fl. probably 1st cent. BC Thought to be a native of Knossos, Crete, he taught in Alexandria. Although his writings have been lost, it is known that his main contributions were 10 tropoi (ways to conduct arguments) that appeared in Pyrrhonian Discourses. His arguments, which point to the impossibility of knowledge, made him one of the leading skeptics.

(An) Aenkleus (I-ne-klee-us) is a humanoid creature with a very extensive life. They usually live an average life over 6,000 years. The elders appear to be in their mid 40s before their demise. The children mature just like humans, growing and developing normally, but their physical aging begins to slow down between the ages of 16 to 18. Every 200 years equals one year to humans with physical aging.

The cause for this slow age progression is their high magical energy. In rare cases, when the reservoir inside the individual can hold large amounts of energy, the Aenkleuses (plural) may evolve. A permanent glow seems to come from their skin. Some may even exhibit small feathered wings the color of their skin fading to white at the tips. Their lifespan also appears to be lengthened. This stage is highly revered by the society but as mentioned is a very rare case.

They are collectors of knowledge and history of other cultures. How they get some documents is still a mystery and a well kept secret within their society. They also pride themselves on being masters of all trades. They send their children off to learn within the neighboring Elf society at the age of thirteen.

Education starts at a very young age, but there is only so much the parents can teach before the children require higher education. Since the birth rate of the Aenkleus is so low, they send the youth to study swordsmanship, magic lore, and other studies that might help. This
inter mingling (not sure of those words) between the two races has created a mighty bond.

The Aenkleus and Elves appear to keep in close contact well into adulthood. The adults of both societies compare resources they have gathered. Both races are very judgmental to those outside of their society.

Humans and Aenkleuses are not known for their hospitality towards one another. Humans often find them to be cold and will run them out of towns. Aenkleus on the other hand see humans as wasteful and disrespectful to others not of their race or society, including nature. However, Aenkleuses have been called to help advice during times of great need.

During the Reputable War, a hero known as Angela Rossa arose from the Aenkleuses. She was a valiant warrior as well as adviser to the human king Zarek of. . .

History

Isolated deep in the Elven forset was the prosperous Aenkleus society, Nomin. It was from these prestigious people that a hero came to the aid of all humanity. Angela Rossa was the personal adviser to King Zarek of Thilacc during the Reputable War. She was the first and only Aenkleus to be documented for her heroic performances by the king’s side or out on the battlefield. The history books speak enough of how she managed to seal away the darkness though. But roughly a decade later, there was a private dispute between the human race and Aenkleus that never made it into the books. The very kingdom that Rossa saved faced civil war. Both sides asked for aid to support their causes. The Aenkleus refused to choose sides, but agreed to help with negotiations. They reminded the people of the trails they had faced just ten years prior and the many lives that would be thrown away for pitting against countrymen. Because of their neutral standing when Thilacc felt it was at its most dire time, a rift began to form between the two races. Aenkleuses were black listed in all cities, towns, and villages within the kingdom. The Aenkleus felt disdain towards the humans as the negotiation efforts were a waste since it broke out into war.

Amandos Blackburn was traveling in the kingdom of Thilacc during their civil war. He saw fights breakout in the middle of streets because of the two side’s different views. He was foolish enough to try and stop one, but a cry rang through the crowd about what he was. The mob turned on him at a drop of a hat, throwing anything near at hand to drive him from their village. These very people had once welcomed him warmly, but this change left a bitter feeling in his heart. He became prejudice of the narrow-minded humans. He returned home to his wife, Calien (great-niece once removed of Angela), who had also faced the cruelty of the humans while she was returning from another realm. Word slowly came back that the anger against their kind was spreading, so the council ruled that secrecy would be necessary when traveling outside. But Amandos and Calien did not return to their duties that would take them away from Nomin. It was beneficial since Calien was pregnant.

Amandos felt that he had spent enough time outside and that his life was finally moving as it should. Not wishing to leave his growing family, he offered his wisdom to be Council Adviser under the Elite. It was an important position and the highest one available to someone of his standing and power. He was considered for many years, but the joy of his first son, Hammond, put the disappointment at ease.

A century after the Reputable War had been concluded, he was finally accepted. It is here that our story begins with the birth of his second-born, Evelyn. Since her father was busy with his new duties as Council Adviser, her mother, Calien, was the only one left as caregiver.

Evelyn grew up on the heroic tale of Angela and her family’s travels outside of Nomin. The stories of unimaginable power, the fierce darkness, and the history rich places that lay out of reach fueled her curiosity. Her mother and others in the village told their personal tales of being stoned out of towns in hopes that she would learn from their mistake but it left a lingering sympathy for the humans. She could not understand how such a mighty race could be hurt so easily and hold a grudge throughout the generations.

But her thirst for more knowledge was difficult to curb in her village. Often she would sneak into the council meetings just to learn what was happening outside. It was during one of her excursions that she overheard a discussion about the ancient Aenkleus relics. These carved stones varied in color, shape, and size. The uses for several had been “lost” over the centuries (though many suspect it was documented and kept safe by the Elites). But often she would stare at the few allowed on display. Her father had come upon her when she had her nose pressed to the glass and explained how most were not powerful enough to use them. It was sign that the power and strength of the Aenkleus was waning. In time, they would be another lost society of history.

Around the age of thirteen, Evelyn was sent to the neighboring Elven dwelling Lute Taure. It was beautifully built around the existing trees and her new home until the council ruled she was an adult. She excelled easily in most of her studies except swordsmanship. She had a deep-rooted feeling against taking another’s life since their death would end their personally history. This made the lessons very difficult for her. When they would practice, they were paired together and were often the spectacle of the many other students. It was after one of the more brutal practices that a very dashing young elf offered to be her personal instructor. Vartan Agar’en I’erec was her senior by ninety years but behaved more like a ten-year-old. He was often in trouble for kidding all the girls except Evelyn. He treated her more like a younger sister that attracted too much trouble (which was true).

The kingdom of Thilacc was on the brink of warfare. Their world was shrinking with the population growth so they needed more farmland to feed the populace. The new king, Rolland, planned to invade the neighboring lands of Sulron, but wanted the advice his ancestors once had from the Aenkleus. He sent a summon to the council circle of Nomin pleading they said one of their people quickly.

They spent many months trying to decide who should go. Those the council inquired declined with the memory of their treatment they had received from the very kingdom. They then brought Evelyn home early since they felt her empathy would be best suited in the hostile areas. She accepted readily even though she was not an adult in the society and prepared to leave quickly. But word reached Vartan that she would be abandoning her studies and leaping head first into the lion’s den alone. He asked the Aenkleus council to allow him to travel with her to help her finish her studies as well as protect her from herself. They accepted and bonded his life to her with a sacred ritual that would help him fulfill his duty.

At her departure, her parents presented her with two gifts. Her father gifted a sword he had crafted himself. But he was unaware of his daughter’s poor skills with one. Her mother, Calien, was more practical with her present. She had ordered that an oak quarterstaff be crafted for Evelyn to aid and enhance her still growing powers. She accepted both of them graciously and set forth on her journey with her bond.

It was during her travels and time at court that she grew up the most. She soon discovered that everyone back home had not been exaggerating about the grudge still lingering among the humans. She had once been a brash and outgoing woman, but court taught her to hide behind a new demeanor that made her be quiet and reserved. No matter what cruel rumor or act she faced, Evelyn never lost her compassion. But the innocence of her youth was striped further when she fell in love for the first time.

The men at court were often struck by her beauty, but once they heard she was the Aenkleus adviser for King Rolland. They would quickly direct their attention on the other ladies in embarrassment. Sir Godwin Nyht was an exception. He was not a popular lord under the king, but he accepted Evelyn for who and what she was. She tried to fight against her growing feelings for him and declined his invitations often. She knew that by the time she died he would be nothing but dust in the ground. But she could not deny her feelings and in a short time they were married.

The king went against Evelyn’s advice sent a small force into Sulron with Godwin leading a unit. The battles was said to be gruesome and that Thilacc’s troops never stood a chance with so few. The bodies that were returned told the story of bloodshed and fire. Evelyn was heart broken to hear her that her husband was dead. Too grief stricken to continue her duties, Vartan brought it upon himself to ask that Evelyn be relieved of her duty so she many return home. Since she was of little help in the condition she was in, King Rolland agreed. They rushed back to Nomin as quickly as they could in hopes that the comfort of family would speed Evelyn’s recovery, but that was not the case when they reached their destination. Displeased with the decisions his daughter had made, Amandos stood before his fellow council members and pleaded that Evelyn be banished from Nomin under false accusations. His own flesh and blood was sent from the lands for life because of his personal grudge against her marrying a human.
