Hopeful: Nicholas has a very upbeat spirit. Despite the bad things that have happened around him, he still holds to the belief that you can always turn things around. No matter how deep or dark things may get, if you hold on long enough something good can be made of the situation. This outlook on life has helped him overcome many personal challenges since his accident. Nicholas does not allow his handicapped state to depress him, nor does he let his minor alienation weigh down on him.

Aspiring: Nicholas has plans, though he never quiet knows what they are. At twelve years of age, he is trapped somewhere between the innocence of childhood and the wisdom of maturity. Regardless of his mental maturity, Nicholas often finds himself striving to achieve more then what is expected of one his age. For this reason he has succeeded in leap frogging his way through school grades until he was able to attend classes with his elder brother. As he is in his last year of schooling, Nicholas has begun to search for his next goal in life. Right now it seems to be reading every book in his parents well stocked library and mastering the Italian language.

Sewing: Being left in a seat for most of your life has really restricted Nicholas' options for hobbies and past times. His hands are really the only thing he has control of, and as such Nico has found himself skilled when it comes to snipping and sewing. Requiring no premade patterns, Nico see's in his mind how pieces of fabric would fit in order to create various articles of clothing. He delights in sewing custom made ties for his brother Nathan, and feels far more proud when he see's his brother wearing the uniquely designed accessories. Nico also sews clothing for dolls, which he displays in his once playroom, now converted gallery.

Handicapped: It goes without saying that being restricted to a wheelchair is a major handicap. Nicohlas finds things as simple as stairs or muddy ground to be difficult to manage.

Emotionally Withdrawn: Nicholas has the appearance of a normal and well adjusted young boy. For the most part he is just like all other boys his own age. However, due to the lack of parental interest in his life, Nicohlas never formed the bond a child typically does with his adult caregivers. Instead, he formed such a bond with his own brother, identifying with him as the father figure in his life. As a result, Nicohlas does not place his trust easily in adults. Rather, he looks to Nathan to provide for him and protect him as a Father. When someone says they need or want a parent, or that they miss a parent figure, Nicohlas can not identify. He personally does not miss the parental interaction that other children receive, due in no small part to the fact he has never really socialized with his own parents.

The Montibello Mansion
User Image Upon entering the Manson, visitors are greeted by a large statue of a female posing in the center of the room. The floor is a polished marble with muted tones of gray and blue for the walls. A pair of large stairwells lead up to the second floor of the room. Potted lotus flowers and orchids decorate the room. A pair of archways open up into a large Sitting room.

The Sitting room is split in half. To the left side of the room there is a fireplace with a love-seat and matching sitting chairs. Here is where the Montibellos often sit and chat with their company. To the right of the room is a large television mounted on the wall. A game station and telephone sit on a coffee table, where a love seat with matching recliners circle around it. Four hallways connect to the sitting room. Two to the left in the north and south corner, and two to the right on the north and south corners. A large indoor fountain provides a soothing atmosphere to the room. The white marble floor is divided by blue and gold Persian runners.

Down the southern left hall is the study and gameroom. Down the southern right room is the bathroom and Nicohlas' converted bedroom. Down the northern left hall is the dining room, and down the northern right hall is the breakfast nook and cellar stairwell.

Directly ahead of the sitting room are the doors to the kitchen. A tiled heaven of serene blues. The kitchen is set up with a center island for the cooks who prepare the meals for the Montibellos. To the left and right of the kitchen are doors leading to the breakfast nook and the dining room.

The sitting room has a natural wood floor with crimson painted walls bordered in mahogany trim. A stand up stereo system provides music for the room. A fooze ball table, painters easel and chess set are arranged to allow Nicohlas easy access in his wheelchair to them.

The study is a well lit room with two large lattice windows. The walls and floor are both made of sandstone, however each panel of the wall is hand chiseled with the image of a oriental dragon. Glass shelf bookshelves line the walls with various antique oddities.

A home can be like a snap shot picture. A single second of time, frozen there for all the world to view. But life is not always like that photo. There are times when it's not nearly so neat and pretty.

For as long as Nico could remember, Nathan rarely smiled. He always had this perpetual withdrawn expression. His eyes always appeared to be focused somewhere else. However, there were times when Nathan was alone with him...he would take Nico into his arms and hold him. Nico remembered leaning into his brothers embrace, closing his eyes, and listening to his brothers soft and mellow voice as he spoke. Nathan would tell him such strange things. He spoke of trips taken before Nico was born. Trips to Egypt and Greece. Trips to places along the sea where you could look out a window and see the silvery white hides of dolphins playing in the waves. Other times Nathan would read him things from his books. Usually they were poems that Nico simply was not old enough to understand the underlying meaning to. It hardly mattered to him though.

When he was sick, Nico could always find his brother sitting at his side in the middle of the night. There was such an intensity to the stare in those eyes. It seemed as if he were watching over him, to ensure that no banshee appeared to spirit him away. To make certain he would sleep peacefully through the night...or to wipe his brow when it got too hot from a fever. Or to kiss his hairline when his nightmares grew too great.

He loved his brother, and he knew that his brother loved him. It was the warmest feeling you could possibly imagine. In a sense, Nathan was Nico's father and mother. Due in great part to the fact his parents were never around. Nico saw them on holidays, or when report cards were due. According to the butler, his father was from 'Old Money'. Which translated, as best he could tell, into 'Having too much money to know what to do with.' His father dabbled in investing. Throwing his money into businesses and projects that his wife convinced him were good deals. His mother was from some obscure royal line. She boasted she had blood ties to Cleopatra and was part Egyptian. Nico forgot the exact percentage she quoted to all her 'friends'. Looking at her he could not see how she could possibly think she was Egyptian. She was as white as can be with hair so black it had purple highlights. It was from her that Nico was certain he and his brother got their hair color. Either way...she hardly looked Egyptian.

Nico's childhood was hardly a lonely one, due to the arranged play dates with other upper-class children that the maid set up. It was odd, but Nathan never really seemed to approve of these play dates. Nico could always see him lingering nearby, watching as he interacted with the other children. He just...never looked pleased. Not that his facial features changed overly much. Nico could tell though. He could see the slight reddening of his ear tips or the tightness of the corners of his mouth that he suspected was signs of anger or stress. Nathans disapproval and dislike of these play dates led to Nico himself learning to dislike that. When questioned why he did not want to visit with this or that families child, Nico would have no answer to give.

In turn, Nico always had Nathan nearby to keep him company. His brother was so tolerable. When he wanted to play with the Victorian dolls in the attic, Nathan did not scoff or mock him. His brother made himself comfortable and did his best to be a entertaining playmate. When Nico wanted to watch a movie that was terribly childish, Nathan made him pop corn, poured him hot tea, and suffered through the movie with his brother cuddled up against him. Nathan provided Nico with all the companionship he could need. When Nico skinned his knee, Nathan was the one to dab on the peroxide and tape the bandage in place. When Nico felt hungry and it was still hours to the next meal, Nathan was the one who contended with Cook in the kitchen to get him a snack.

Nathan was the one who sat with him when he was tutored at home and ensure he understood his lessons. Despite having sat for nine hours through his own lessons, Nico knew his brother would not leave him until he was certain he understood each math problem and definition of all his spelling words. With Nathans help, Nico came to grasp his lessons more completely, and shone in intelligence.

On rare occasions though, Nico could plead with his brother for a small break. Having private tutors meant that the Montibello boys had year round schooling six days a week when they were not in public school. It could sometimes grow very stressful or tedious, depending on the lessons planned for that particular day. Personally Nicholas disliked math studies and Etiquette. There was so many rules to both and it was so hard to keep them all straight! From time to time Nico could beg Nathan to sneak them out of the manor though. Oh..he knew his brother had a hard time telling him no. Behind those silver eyes of his he could see a warm smile lurking as he would launch into a well worn speech about the expectations of their class. How these lessons were important. How it was improper...but he always said yes. So long as Nico did not ask too often that is.

Nathan would spirit him away on some adventure. Sometimes they would go into town and watch a movie. Or they would go to the zoo! Or shopping! What Nico loved the best though, was when his brother took him on horseback and rode through the private grounds to a small lake nestled in the furthest corner of their family property. There was a small cliff that they could jump off into the water when the water was high enough. A tangled mess of raspberry bushes where they could pluck sweet fruit when they got hungry during the ripe season. Or, as happened most times, they flung the large berries at each other, causing little red blot stains on their cloths. Nathan never seemed to care that his cloths were out of sorts or ruined. He smiled...he laughed. Nicholas felt so warm and happy.

All of that changed though. So quickly. One day that warmth was simply taken away and replaced with a icy chill that Nico felt he could not possibly reach past. Nathans eyes lost the warm hidden smile. His lips no longer seemed to be concealing a secret humor. What was so horrible was that Nico could not exactly recall what had happened to destroy his brothers joy.

They had been playing alongside the cliff. The water had been too low for them to swim, so instead Nathan and Nico had decided to have a cricket fight. It was exactly as it sounded too. The boys would cup a cricket from the grass and fling it at each other. It was amusing, in the way that boy's found it, and Nathan always laughed in this silly high pitched way when Nico managed to get one in his hair. Nathan had flung some crickets at him...and Nico remembered dodging to one side. He recalled Nathans shrill voice. It was not a laugh though, but a scream of terror..denial...

If Nico closed his eyes, he could remember the feeling like he was flying. The wind rushed about him and he felt weightless. There was always a a sense of blackness that followed the memory. Nathan informed him later what had happened. He had fallen off the cliff. He had fallen, and badly, onto the exposed rocks below. Nathan had somehow managed to get down the cliff before he drowned in the shallow waters. The fall had knocked him unconscious, and done far worse to his back. Nico had woken in a hospital bed, Nathan was sitting in a chair at his side. Just like when he was sick, only Nathans features seemed so pale and drawn. Black circles painted under his eyes.

Since that day, it seemed like Nathan had never quiet recovered. He always seemed so pale. Nico had not recovered either. His lower spine had been snapped and splintered. The doctors had said that, had he not been moved then perhaps he would have healed up properly. They would have been able to fix his spine and with time and practice he would have learned to walk again. However, Nathan had pulled him out of the water and in doing so damaged his spine beyond repair. If he had not moved Nicholas he surely would have drowned, but doing so had cost him his ability to walk. Whenever Nico looked into Nathans face he could see only a mask. His parents had blamed Nathan of course. When his mother showed up for her token visit she had wept over her little prince, blamed Nathan for ruining his future, then flew off to Morocco with their father for some business meeting.

There were no more outings after that. Nathan only rode his horse in his lessons. Only swam in the pool for exercise. Nico found himself banished to a wheelchair and the immediate grounds of the manor. Nathan would not be moved by any of his pleas to leave the manor or escape from his daily lessons. It seemed as, if it was not planned out for them, then Nathan would not allow them to deviate from the schedule set down by the tutors or nannies.

When the school season started, Nico at least found himself given a bit more freedom. His tutors were sent away and he was allowed to study on his own. It was no surprise to him when he found his lessons far too easy. At the suggestion of his brother, the school administered a sort of placement test for Nico. He was only eight when he skipped to fourth grade. When he was nine he skipped to sixth grade. At ten he jumped ahead to eighth grade, then at eleven he moved up to tenth grade, the same as Nathan at that time.

Until that time, Nico had found himself rather unwelcome by the students of his classes. Who wanted to socialize with a little boy after all? His school experience changed dramatically when he reached the same grade as Nathan, though for the better or worse he could not quiet say. On the one hand, he was with his brother. Nathan sat next to him, watching over him so that the other students in his class never had a chance to tease him or even give him a cold shoulder. Yet now he felt the strange sense of his brother always watching him. Whenever Nico would look up, he could see his brothers eyes quickly darting away.

The next two years were...better. Nico decided not to take another placement test, even though his classes were still fairly easy. He didn't want to surpass his brother. He wanted to stay in the same class as him. It felt good to be near to his big brother all the time. Perhaps in time, he hoped that by showing his brother that he was just as happy and content as he could be. That somehow this would mend the damage that had been done to his heart. That surely was what was wrong, Nico was growing wiser as he grew older after all. Somewhere under that mask he knew his brother was still hidden. He merely had to find a way to bring him back out...

Stage One Powers

Seraphim's power is divided into two parts. The Magical Essence, and the Tool that is used to unleash it. Nicholas is the pure embodiment of the Magical Essence. Hence why the Lock that is his beacon secures itself upon him, it is to lock the magical energy securely within him and keep it from escaping. The Tool happens to be the five white feathers that make up his hair ornament. These feathers can be removed by simply plucking them free of the ornament.

In order to use the Feathers, Seraphim must lightly kiss the Feather while mentally invoking the type of magic he wishes to use it for. The act of kissing the feather imbues some of his magical essence into the Feather and powers it. Once the magical energy within the feather is used up, the feather vanishes. When Seraphim transforms, he will always start with 5 feathers in his hairpiece for a total of 24 hours. Once a feather is used, it will not return until a full 24 hrs has passed from the time of it's use. Seraphim may only invoke one type of magic per feather.

Healing Wind- When a Feather is Invoked with this magic, it turns a golden color. Seraphim passes the Feather over a target, causing a trickle of glowing golden light to pass over a wounded area or person. The Feather possesses enough magical essence to heal scrapes and bruises with no problem. It can heal up to 2 Moderate wounds, or 1 Severe Wound. Moderate wounds are things like deep gashes or a broken limb. Anything less serious can be healed without draining the Feathers Essence. Anything more serious then that counts as a Sever wound. If the Feather has already been used to heal a Moderate wound once, it can be used to partly heal a Severe wound, making it a Moderate wound instead. Seraphim may Invoke this magic in a Feather, and then replace it in his hair clip to be used later on during the battle or until the end of his transformation.

Smite- When a Feather is invoked with this magic it glows with a blue light. By pointing the feather at a target, Seraphim causes a short blue blast of light to streak out towards the target. The light inflicts moderate positive energy damage on any target it hits. Smite can be fired only 3 times before the magic essence of the Feather is spent, and the Feather vanishes. Seraphim may Invoke this magic in a Feather, and then replace it in his hair clip to be used later on during the battle or until the end of his transformation.

Summon Anigrus- Requires the use of 5 feathers. Seraphim must Invoke magical Essence into all five of his feathers, and he must still possess all five. Even if he has used some of the magical essence in some of them (Such as Curing 1 Moderate wound with a Healing feather and used 2 of the 3 Smite shots) he may still use the Summon. Seraphim tosses all five of the feathers in the air before him. The feathers magically snap into a Hexagram figure and silvery blue light connects the 5 feathers into a star shape. From within the center of the star comes a wild rush of water in the form of a water serpent. This is a physical manifestation of the river Anigrus. Anigrus attacks as Seraphim directs it to, though it does possess it's own intelligence and may speak. Anigrus has water properties and no magical abilities of it's own. It attacks by making snake like strikes, and can pierce through things with it's fanged mouth. Anigrus remains in existence for up to 15 minutes time, after which time the water that forms Anigrus puddles on the ground. The Summon uses up all of Seraphim's feathers instantly.

Feather Storm- When Seraphim Invokes this magic, the Feather begins to glow a bright white color. Seraphim tosses the feather up into the air, where it fractures into a thousand small feathers of light. They strike down over a ranged area of 25 square feet. Each feather deals minor damage, yet when compounded by a thousand, this damage can quickly turn into sever. This is a one time use per Feather magic. Seraphim may Invoke this magic in a Feather, and then replace it in his hair clip to be used later on during the battle or until the end of his transformation.

Stage Two Powers

At the second stage, Seraphim's powers become more fully unleashed.

He no longer needs to imbue a feather to use his Healing Wind power. Seraphim merely needs to touch a wounded subject with one hand, and hold the other over the wound to begin healing him. During this process, Seraphim is incapable of performing any other task. Seraphim is capable of healing any wound, though should the wound be too severe the subject may still fall into a state of shock and die.

Seraphim must still use the feathers of his ear piece to use Smite and Feather Storm. However, after expanding the magical essence within the feather which causes it to crumble into glowing dust, a replacement feather will appear within Seraphim's earpiece after a period of time has passed. For Smite it will require at least 5 posts to return or half an hour. For Feather Storm it requires ten posts or an hour.

Seraphim can still only Summon the Anigrius once per day, even if the feathers return to him afterwards.
