Um... I have not watched this yet; but has anyone here? The original Tron film was another of my childhood movies; it is a very good movie for those who haven't watched it yet... especially if you have an interest in AI sci-fi computers... such as myself.
I am wondering if this new film is good?

I loved the origonal movie!
(I had a huge crush on Tron when I was in 5th grade, can you believe it?)
But no, sadly I haven't seen the new movie yet.

Don't go into the new movie expecting a plot. The movie was solely made for the purpose of creating stellar special effects (which are quite amazing) but that's really the only thing the movie has going for it. As one of my friends put it, it's like a really long music video.
If you want to go see a movie with amazing visual effects, then go see Tron: Legacy. If you want a movie with a plot and good dialogue, you might be disappointed by it.

Oh man, I love Tron. Tron and the Cat from Outer Space were my 2 favorite live action movies when I was little. <3 Cats were aliens and there were little people living in computers; thank you, Disney. <3
I haven't seen the newest one; but from what I've heard, Musenna is correct. Every time I hear someone talk about it, it's that the effects were really, really good. Oh, and my fellow Daft Punk fans are excited about the music. But the plot... well, I haven't heard much. ^_^;

@Song: My sister has a crush on Tron... I think.
@Musenna: Hmmm; I thought as much. A lot of things nowadays seems to be about visuel effects rather than actual storyline.
@Marchy: The Cat from Outer Space? Is that the film about the alien cat... and it has powers or something? I remember seeing parts of it when it was on TV once.
Wow I'm glad other people liked Tron when they were younger... I usually get blank expressions when I mention the movie to people.
The MPC doesn't annoy me in the film but wow he was an annoying boss in KH2. Totally loved Sora and Tron's combined skill thingy though.
It isn't a well known fact on the internet that I love science fiction AI computers, robots and machines. ^^;

Yes, the Cat from Outer Space was about a cat who's ship crash landed on Earth. He had a magical collar that helped him talk and do all sorts of cool things, like make people fly and stuff. It was pretty much awesome. >3<
But I have to agree; I loved Tron's world in KH. So much neon! XD

both movies are stand alone. Someone that has never seen the first can still enjoy the 2nd. I will say one thing I laughed so hard when I heard the update for the original Tron music.

The new Tron movie was really good as far as visuals go. Great costumes, great effects, great music (even though that's not visual). However, I found it to be severely lacking in the story department.
Were I to get it on DVD, I would be more likely to just have it on in the back ground of parties with the sound turned off so you'd only notice the visuals. It's my opinion that it would make a far better music video than it did an actual movie.
...
As to the Tron level of KH2, I enjoyed it greatly. The Lightcycle mission was hard as fuh... something really hard. But the rest of the level was really fun!

Ah yes the Lightcycle mini-game... took me a few times before I completed it.
Not as many times as one of the battles took me... that guy with the cards... though I'm talking about my first playthrough... or wait... did someone else do that battle for me the first time? Long time ago now. ^_^;
Er... anyway; yes... Tron; the level itself was very pretty~

Meh, there are some parts in Tron Legacy that you wouldn't understand if you didn't see the first one. Like, the whole scene with Sam opening the really big door. XD I thought that was hilarious, same reaction as his father when he saw it.
