Before I begin - *points to a person in crowd* This topic is not because of you, but this is a legitimate, and pretty cool thought (in my opinion).
So with any RPG, story, game whatever... You have to create a character that's all your own. You give it a background of where they were born, how they live, what their future will be. You also throw in a couple friends/family, mentors, maybe a lover..
And then your character is born - all nice & happy. Or angst & depressed...however your character is.
But then you do something in your game or story....then realize, "Wait a minute...that's not what my character would do.." But you make them do it anyway?
Isn't that cool? You give so much life & personality to your char. that even you (or hell other people for that matter) would realize when your character is out of character?
I love writing stories. It's what I've done since I was a kid. I have soooo many characters & settings in my mind.. Anyway, I just thought that was kind of neat when you realize your characters aren't being what 'they should.'
-Has anyone else ever done that? Intentionally? -If you done it intentionally, why? For a challenge? Something fun to do cause you were bored?
-I hope I'm not the only one who thinks this is cool D:
-EDIT: Have you ever had people wanting you to change your character? Did you? And if so, why? biggrin

I know what you mean. It feels like the characters have so much life to them that it's hard to believe that they don't really exist. I can't really force myself to make them do something they are not supposed to do though. >.>

I kinda did that here.
Alliyena just started off as a way to mess with people. XD
But she just blossomed into something beautiful.
Sometimes, I think that she always existed, just below the surface.

i think it is only natural, even the most traumatic background had to have some glimmer of the reverse otherwise it is a paper cut out character, flat and boring. whether we are aware of it, as the creator we have a blueprint about where you like your character to go from what you had in there background. Will they be the same bitter person. or will they find love and all will be sunshine and roses, or whatever. But things change, as our creation interacts with others and grows in experience your plans may change, but change is exactly what keeps your creation from being anything but what it is.

I agree that change within a character is only natural too. But it can also be a bit confusing when you're not even sure what you want for your character.

I remember when Sailor Pink was just a character who likes cutesy thing. She's still the same but with some minor modifications.

I've yet to come up with a scout name for my char, though I made her mainly for laughs.

For a sec, I thought the name said N-Spade and was gonna be like, "Cool, Mario Bros Senshi.." I used to like the N-Spade games emo
Good luck on comming up with something soon then surprised

N-Space was just something I thought up on the fly; I wanted to sound all mathematical. As for a name I was thinking of calling myself Sailor Masochist, with my battle cry could be "In the name of the moon, punish me!"

That.. would certainly be very different o.o
A mathematical masochist? Reminds me of those school teachers in anime for some reason o.o;
BUT - none the less it would pretty neat to try to branch on a character like that xd

To start off with Sailor Jade was supposed to be a reserved person that didn't really open up to her peers
