It's time for me to retire Safari, and I'm wondering what other people use.
Also, long time no see. <3

I used firefox, but it was a resource hog and started deleting all of my bookmarks for no reason.
So I switched to opera, which was ok, but it would crash at least once a day.
Now I use Chrome. So far so good. It has terrible bookmark management, but if you don't have a ton like I do you won't even notice.

Your name and avatar transport me right back to 2004. xd
IE is way too slow on this computer so I'm using firefox at the moment. No complaints so I haven't bothered to try any other browsers!

I ran all the browsers on my computer through peacekeeper to see how they performed. Poor Firefox.

For serious. I don't know what Firefox is doing but it has to lay off the datas and do some exercise or something. It's fast once it's up and running, but it takes forever to get up and running.

If I weren't so lazy and in love w/ specific addons, I'd use Chrome. Until it catches up (community/functionality-wise), I'll keep using Firefox. (What can I say? I like internet radio addons, and other cool things Chrome doesn't have yet, to my knowledge.)
Also, I haven't heard of Iron. This intrigues me, so I'll do some reading.

Iron is basically Chrome with less Google.

i use firefox with a few add-ons like ad-block and s**t.
firefox is generally the best choice and the most used browser. it's fast and you are able to modify it with tons of add ons.
if your firefox needs too long to laod you probably save the history and temp files for too long. i think standard is 2 month or so? thats way too much you might want to adjust that. i have it remember my browsing history for 25 days, that works pretty well for me. its alot of data to be organised thats why it sometimes takes ages to start.
what i should add though: firefox usually gets some minus scores in tests because it is said to be unsave due to some exploitable add-ons. but if don't use any or only the most used ones you're pretty save.
opera is said to be an overall good browser, i don't know. never used it.
chrome is crappy with handling more than one tab, also its made by google and like every crap google offers for free you're being stalked for "commercial" reasons. that's their excuse at least. so just like google looks through your mail when you have a gmail acc, it collects and saves your browsing history and sends it to google so they can use it for whatever.

If you want to get technical, IE is actually the most popular browser.

cheese_slave database If you want to get technical, IE is actually the most popular browser. yup, as long as you still live in 2008 at least. http://www.webdevelopersnotes.com/articles/popular-web-browsers.php that is a statistic for "most popular" IE doesn't even lead the "most used" statistics anymore http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp edit: ok i realize that wiki says something else and is probably more valid. in any case the trend goes towards firefox and it won't be long 'till wiki says the same. unless there will be some major changes or a new broswer or whatever.

Quote: W3Schools is a website for people with an interest for web technologies. These people are more interested in using alternative browsers than the average user. The average user tends to use Internet Explorer, since it comes preinstalled with Windows. Most do not seek out other browsers. These facts indicate that the browser figures above are not 100% realistic. Other web sites have statistics showing that Internet Explorer is used by at least 80% of the users.
