Man am I in a depressed mood.

At one of the other furry guilds here (I won't name names) I don't feel like I'm welcome anymore.

A friend of mine and I got into an argument after I mentioned I was getting a $400 bill from my doctors for regular diabetic testing. My insurance normally covers it, but this time it didn't. And I ranted a bit about how health care is too damn expensive.

So she blurted out this angry rant about socialism, socialistic health care, socialist welfare. Implied indirectly that most people on welfare are black and lazy. Said that all democrats do are sit on their asses, act elitist, expect handouts, give out free taxpayer money. Typical bigoted neocon response based on grand generalizations.

Thing is, she never mentions politics and I never knew she was right wing. Plus, I'm on welfare, AND I WORK FULL TIME SO I'M NOT LAZY, and I'm a college student with a high IQ so I'M NOT STUPID. And I usually vote democratic. More because of their support for gay rights and civil rights and science and enviroment than anything else. So I became offended by what she said.

I tried to write a very long post explaining my point of view, my history, and my rough life, to explain why I felt and believed the way I did, and how I was offended by what she said. Being a mod at the guild, she deleted all of it (luckily I thought ahead and saved a copy :3).

She refuses to talk to me anymore and frankly I don't know if I want to be friends anymore. But this whole thing pains me. I feel like I've lost a close friend. I'm depressed at times. What a horrible way to have Christmas.

*sits in a corner and sighs*

Did she call you a troll and then have her boyfriend ban you from the Guild without the authority? biggrin

It doesn't sound like she was very mature about how she handled things. Most people aren't when they come to terms with their poor decision making.

Hey, on the plus side, I make a good friend.

She's in the wrong for deleting your defense in the argument on the grounds that simply because she lost the argument, she deleted it in retaliation.

I suggest speaking to an admin of that guild and sorting this out. It would be silly to lose a guild over someone like her.

Meh. I think I'm feeling better, although it's painful arguing and losing someone you call a friend.

And I'm not going to complain to the staff of that guild unless she decides to delete posts in other parts of the guild. The deletion in question was in "her" thread and in a way, she does have the right to delete threads in that thread, even if it's morally questionable.

all in all, arguments like that are no reason for someone to make such an extreme move. she abandoned a friend, covered up the whole mess, and left you alienated in the entire guild, all because you don't agree on politics. it isn't like that could have effected the friendship if she let it be.

I'll be honest, I don't like the democrats or the republicans. I see alot of problems with each of them. I myself had been tooting the socialism horn all year, but I've stepped away from that after realizing that socialism just plain doesn't work. I still see it as an option that might be able to work in the right circumstances, but not in america as we know it. I'm strongly opposed to republics.

try to cheer up, please. sad Christmas may not have been what you were hoping, but think of the bright side. you obviously didn't lose anyone worthe your time if they would so quickly abandon you, and you still have great Friends here I am sure. I'll be your Friend. besides, the New Year is almost here, and who knows what'll come with that. ^_^

by the way, funny tidbit. =w= the republican party is usually the one mocking Green Energy policies, but Red States are usually the ones that implement Green Energy Methods the most. xd it actually makes sense that they would, seeing as Agricultural Folks typically vote republican, and they see the commercial value of Green Energy. and the mocking of it is just politics; the Southern Strategy is a throwback to old branch of conservative democrats, the know-nothing party, who were extremely racist and ignorant and proud of that fact. before the party-flip, it was the know-nothings... now it's the republicans themselves. xd
