I have an idea for a book. The main character is based on me. So in the story I loose my best friend or lover(I cant decide) To hell. The whole book is about me trying to get him or her back and going a this brave quest to get her back. I already have an idea to how it ends. I stay in hell so they can leave because-maybe- the devil is my dad. Not sure. I m totaly open to ideas and pointers and critisism.

Well you have the beginning and the end, sort of. Here are some of my ideas and I don't know if you'll use them. It may change as you write but some things you may want to think about:
Why your friend is in heck in the first place. (Mix-up, deal with a demon, someone else's selling their soul?)
What would a quest to the underworld have? Would it be based on classic stories like the ballad of Orpheus or would you do something different like have heck be technological and sci-fi with state of the art security systems?
What other characters would you have? Would you have a guardian angel and would they be really ticked off? What about other members of your family, what would you tell them? (Hey Mom, I'm going on a trip down to heck. You know, where the demons live? I'll be back by next week so don't worry!)

Just because the main character is based on you doesn't mean that the character is you.
Maybe your main character is a demon that has tried to escape hell and they've pulled your boyfriend in to try and get you back.
Maybe your main character comes from a family that is long lost desendants of the angel Gabriel (one that talked to Mary, mother of Jesus) and your the 100th daughter and the angelic ancestory doesn't extend its promises to you so the demons have decided that you'll suffer and have kidnapped your best friend.
Maybe there's a demon down in hell that doesn't really want to be a demon and saves your friend from dying in an accident, but you have to go to the underworld to save him cause the demon fell in love with him and won't let him go.
Maybe there's a guy that likes you and has sent your boyfriend to hell so that he can be with you, but things don't work out and you rescue the boyfriend and send the other guy to hell.
Maybe a long lost ancestor promised a demon his 13th child and it wasn't until centuries later that a 13th child was born and at the age of 13 he's taken away to hell.
There are a ton of story plots to come up with, you just got to make a basic box story line (which you have) and think a little outside of it.

I have an insane idea... no really... make your self a shape shifter. Have an internal struggle between the primitive instinct of the animal and her true self. This will feed your sort of quest to get them back. Now for your friend....
Let's do something a little unorthodox, we can make them an immortal. How about, a young apprentice being held by a young man as prisoner; to do his bidding, nothing vulgar but sort of his form of revenge on you.
It's just and idea...
