 Say hello to the Ds Lite. This is the official redesign for the Nintendo Ds that will be released in Japan in March. It is two-thirds the size and 20% lighter than the Ds (great fro MP:H now with the stylus). No plans have been made yet for a Westurn release, but it is highly likely. I predict a late Q2 release in America and maybe later in the PAL regions. Other colours have no been announced.

That is what I first thought when I saw it. But despite it looking like it came from apple, the redesign is pretty sexy. It makes me glad that I still have yet to get a DS.

wow. That honestly looks alot better than i thought a redesign would. I kinda wish the start/select buttons were in the same place....and the different placement of the microphone will probably make blowing up balloons in MK battle mode more difficult...But I like it. The new placement of the power/charge/wifi lights makes it so your hand can't block them if you hold it weird...and they're easier to glance at if you're playing on the top screen. And the hinge looks sturdier.
eh..I'll probably do the same thing I did with the SP and wait for a special edition to come out before I buy one...but yea, one of these I'm definately getting.

Malorith That is what I first thought when I saw it. But despite it looking like it came from apple, the redesign is pretty sexy. It makes me glad that I still have yet to get a DS. Me too. I'm just concerned that A.) Apple might sue Nintendo for this redesign thing or B.) They'll become friends and eventually merge. Which ever works for the best though..... sweatdrop I Macar wow. I seriously want to get that thing when it comes out, quite contrarily. And I agree, I love a sturdier hinge since the one on my DS kinda sorta broke. I mean it still plays, I just need to be careful with it is all..... But still, I'm just happy to see a better version. Now if only WiFi Pictochat were confirmed..... sad

hmmm, if Apple merges with Nintendo it may just become part of Nintendo with PCs being added to Nintendo's possible-to-grow market, Nintendo is already revolutionizing the gaming industry, and the new DS looks mighty fine.
from first glance the screens look bigger, making me think I'll see more, maybe I'm right, it would be cool though, the two screens working like that is pretty sweet in double size. ^_^

The hinge kinda sorta broke? xp Thats like saying "I kinda sorta failed math".. xp
WiFi Pictochat! as in built in! that would be awsome! I would definately buy it then.
@Raptor:
The screens look bigger because the thing overall is smaller. As far as I know they're exactly the same size.

well it would still be pretty cool if the DS had larger screens. make it easier to see the stuff on screen in a larger form. I'd prefer a number of stylus though if I had a DS, differing things like a tiny one for details, a big one for the big stuff, etc. besides, the bigger the screen, the more you see. ^_^ ninja

Nintendo expects to release the DS lite in the west sometime after it's Japanese launch..
The only thing that bugs me about the redesign is the Start/Select button placement, as it would be pretty hard to swtich back and forth to the 'A' button when playing Mario Kart DS Battle Mode.. (Blowing up ballons. Blowing into the Mic is alot harder and time consuming.)
Macar: The Mic is placed perfectly, as you would still be able to see the onscreen action as opposed to lowering your head and only seeing the touch screen..As Gaughan stated in the VGD.
