What if 4kids buys off Team Shanghai Alice? If the ufotable anime becomes mainstream for some reason?

We ensure, immediately, the bankruptcy and complete downfall of 4kids and all it's associated businesses. Complete and absolute dissolution, and see to it that ZUN's intellectual property has its name kept as far from the records of the fall as possible.
Shortly there-after, we find and torture any and all personnel involved with the purchase of his materials. They would be each hunted down, brutally taught how bad their idea was, and then slaughtered.
Any other questions?

A friend of mine and I actually joked around for a good part of an evening as to how it could be "ruined"
But then again, most of the fans have ruined it anyway.

Diabolic Wave What if 4kids buys off Team Shanghai Alice? If the ufotable anime becomes mainstream for some reason? I would continue liking Touhou, but I'd only take seriously the pre-4kids era of the franchise and look down on those experienced fans who think otherwise. Cyrus Nicholai Greywolf We ensure, immediately, the bankruptcy and complete downfall of 4kids and all it's associated businesses. Any other questions? ...where do I sign up? PCB Alice Margatroid most of the fans have ruined it anyway. I used to think like you until I realized that the "worst" fanmade content —such as the McRoll, viral NND videos, canon-contradictory character portrayals and so on— is the same content that gets a lot of people into the fanbase, including those fans who dig into the official materials afterwards and end up producing quality stuff that is more than worth watching/listening/playing. Or do you think that all "good" fans (or whichever way you'd like to call them) got into the series through official content and arrangements made by top-tier artists such as t=NODE or TAMUSIC, with no exceptions? In my opinion, that makes the so-called "fandumb" do more good than evil. Don't get me wrong, it's still retarded. But having it around is worth it.

Hm... I myself got into Touhou from a stage 1 video of SA on youtube... Took me ages to find the games though =/
I can agree that some of the videos are dumb (McRoll especially, plus anything in the same spirit as the McRoll... I swear I saw one video with Metalocalypse and remixing a remix of Flowering Night... I won't post the link to save everyone's ears from massive bleeding)
As to the OP's question... I would go find ZUN and punch him in the face for letting the company that ruins anime have any part with it. Knowing 4Kids, not even the music would survive, meaning it would only really be Touhou in name and maybe characters.

More fanmade material means more people getting into the fanbase, which in turn raises the chances to get more and more of the kind of doujin art and music you love.

It wouldn't happen. ZUN gets away with a lot of stuff purely because Touhou is an indie series. Several characters rather openly rip off Pocky & Rocky, Fist of the North Star, Castlevania, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, the works of Agatha Christie, the works of Ray Bradbury, probably others I can't remember, and of course his impressive artistic liberty with Japanese mythology and creatures...
I'm not even going to get into the "mediocre fanworks" discussion, mostly because I enjoy silly stuff like McRoll and AMVs.

It ******** irritates me whenever folks bring up this sort of "question." Where is the financial gain 4kids can get if they decided to get this? Touhou doesn't have the mainstream appeal of stuff like Sonic or Nintendo. It would offer nothing for them by doing something like this.
UGH!

These questions are rhetorical, meant to invoke discussion rather than contemplate an actual happening. Literally speaking, there would be good financial gain, not as a mainstream television program, but for a smaller studio to create an officially licensed series straight to DVD for sale at conventions, due to the immense amount of fandom surrounding Touhou. Regardless, it's meant to be a silly idea.

Personally the fans that make me go UGH are not the ones who made things like Ronald Mcdonald Insanity. (its origional name). but those who freak out for stupid reasons like someone mixing up someones theme with their stage music and then all the fans freak for very little reason. Or my favorite question "is this an anime?" Everyone flips instead of simpley telling the person its a game =/ i dub it "FanDumb"
Basicly what i'm trying to say is us touhoufans are our own worst enemy :3 the ones who freak out over little things give us all a bad name. One i perticularly find annoying is when you go to other Danmaku games like Ikaruga or Gundemonium and you see ignorant touhou fans saying "this is a touhou rip off!" or "it was Obviously inspired bytouhou" or something to that effect not even considering that Danmaku games as a genre have been around before Touhou =3 anyone care to discuss? XDD

You took the words out of my mouth. Usually when people jump to conclusion on fan-made anime of Touhou, people would be like "OHMEHGAWD! It's an Anime?!" No, there not. when people type that down and someone correct them, some may think it really is an anime. It's best if people found out what touhou really is, a Danmaku game...end of story. Now that there an OVA (I'm a call it an OVA, since i think there only 1 episode coming out) of the Anime Tenchu x Touhou Project, people will now think its a real anime...For me, i really hope it doesn't kill Touhou for this, my worst fear will be when people become fan's of it for the OVA and not knowing what Touhou really is. It may make the fan angry about those non-fan's of Touhou, who just got into it by the fan-made ones, and this OVA one.
