When you post on gaia what do you really think of? Do you look at the avi that you're replying to or do you try and picture the person behind it? Sometimes after seeing the avi for so long and then finally seeing what that person looks like are you suprised, or did you see the avi as a..fashionstatement of that individual?

i think the avi as an extention to the person. it could be just what the person has inside their head. my dude is what i would be like if i was an anime dude (well actually i would be better if i had more gold).
when i see people, i dont judge. i like personality a lot. also i enjoy playful girls that kinda have a dirty mind (mind in the gutter xp ) soo i just try to look for whats inside other then the avi. its mostly like just a reminder of who ur talkin to if u cant remember names all the time.

I made my avatar look like me a little then added what I'd like to have on if I could get those items.
But most people that see my avatar then me say I look like it.
when I see other people after seeing their avatars I am sometimes suprised.

The avi's cute, but misleading. I always imagine a voice for that avi based on their gender and appearence. But what about someone has an avi of the opposite gender? Their voice just won't fit their message. It makes things confusing. In all reality, the avi's are awesome (I heart the girls, obviously), but can make things a bit confusing for someone with a simple mind like mine.

In all reality, the avi's are awesome (I heart the girls, obviously), but can make things a bit confusing for someone with a simple mind like mine. I agree with you on the voice thing. On another board a friend of mine had a Shippo avatar and talked like him and after a few months I heard his voice and I was like "WHOA!" cause he has the voice of an Adult even though he is only 15.

Fuzzeh!! :: talk glomps :: whee Yea, I always thought about that. You imagine a person one way, but them their avi is of the opposite sex. It change your whole perception of them.

I think of the person behind the avi, cause no matter what you do to your avi it is still cute, where as not everyone in real life is cute.....LOL..
I just think of that as being their inner self, what they would like to look like....it is just a statement about there manner

Zan07 i think the avi as an extention to the person. it could be just what the person has inside their head. my dude is what i would be like if i was an anime dude (well actually i would be better if i had more gold). when i see people, i dont judge. i like personality a lot. also i enjoy playful girls that kinda have a dirty mind (mind in the gutter xp ) soo i just try to look for whats inside other then the avi. its mostly like just a reminder of who ur talkin to if u cant remember names all the time. I agree , some people express themselves throught there avi's looks I for one purposely made my avi look like me as best I could . Others may express there creative or dark sides of the personality . Personally I see both the avi and try to relate to what the person behind the avi looks like depending on there mood by the difference of there accessories , that and how the react to different people by certain posts. Everything adds up to get a good idea how your personality might really be .

Well I try to picture the person behind the avatar...there are so many people on Gaia who are female irl but have a male avatar representing them or are male who have a female avatar. I like to sometimes imagine the people who write something actually looking like their avatar, but most of the time I just focus on their words/own descriptions of themselves when I try to invision them. I kinda used to look like my avatar...I have red hair and wear glasses and I used to have the hairstyle that my avatar is currently sporting...well, somewhat. But I don't tend to wear mini skirts and gloves and thigh high hosery or wear tube tops that show off my tummy...I can only get away with that online blaugh lol If I had to design an avatar that looked like me, it would look like this:  ...not as glamourous as my usual avatar, but this is me...well, sorta sweatdrop

Well, on other forums, you can have a customized avatar--- basically something 70 x 70 pixels. I most certainly don't picture people as a 70 x 70 box, so I'd have to say that avatars really don't make me judge the person I'm talking to. o_o
