Okay. Okayokayokayokay. Karaoke.

I've tried everything I can think of. I've recruited. I've made RP's. I've found missions. I've announced the Tournament, I've used it as an incentive to actually help the guild. Sagi is giving away 100k, for God's sake. WE'VE REFORMED THE GUILD, LIKE, THREE TIMES. And activity is still low. The only place that's active is the Parlor. That's not good. We're not a chatterbox guild.

So, now, I ask you all...

WHAT THE F*** DO YOU GUYS WANT!?

What do you want out of this guild!? God, I've tried everything I can think of! And activity is STILL nothing! WHAT DO YOU WANT!? What do WE need to provide, for you to be interested? For you to be active? FOR YOU TO GIVE TWO SH*TS!?

I have no idea what you want! I've tried everything I can think of, and that hasn't worked. So, what haven't I thought of? WHAT HAVE I MISSED THAT YOU WANT?

TELL ME, DAMMIT!

For me, Weilder, all I want is to get things fixed as fast as possible, and I'm sorry I haven't been around much in the past few days. I've got one hell of a thesis I'm working on now, and I've been in a shell shocked state of sleep deprivation. Now I'm caught up on sleep, and thus can function razz

I think I need to get out there and start recruiting, and I think we should start looking for more RP based users to join the guild. Scout the Barton RP forum for people RPing in literate battle RPs, post search them to insure they've got what it takes, and send them an invitation.

We need people who are like-minded as us and also have the desire to create something good, and we really need to check them out before we invite them so that we have more of an ability to facilitate the guild's best growth. We also need to go out into towns, find literate folks that want to roleplay, and roleplay with them there to leave a good first impression. I feel like some of this stuff if obvious, and if it is consider this added emphasis. Guild activity will increase the faster people recruit, and if no one else jumps on it I'll find us a dozen member and snap up that 100,000!

Also- I want to say this publicly because I think we should be open about important guild matters- I want to get Darius Roslyn back into this guild. Others will disagree, but his dedication to the GML and skill as a roleplayer is very notable, and if there is something we can do to show him that we mean well and seek his forgiveness, we should do it. If it's nothing more a shout out to him, great. I will do it myself if I need to.

I'm going to start some fun little RP, and see what happens. Like Weilder, I can't do this alone, so if anyone's up for lending a hand, it certainly wouldn't hurt you :3

As a side note, Darius left willingly. No one kicked him out. he said he wanted/needed a break and I believe he left Gaia too. I'm not sure.

To be honest, I don't blame Wielder at all. I'm witness he's literally breaking his back just to try and make the guild decent. He's gone the extra mile to try and appeal to people, to make them active, to make them take interest in the guild. yet 75% of the active members completely ignore the announcements and prioritize the Parlor. I feel Wielder's frustration and so I will say the following openly. If the suit fits, then put it on.

The Parlor is alright. It's our way of unwinding and mingling with one another. But keep in mind this is NOT a Chatterbox. This is a RP guild. If there are no active RPs, then make one like Wielder has said before. Ask what can be done for you to be active. Start your own thing; who knows? It might just end up turning into a big guild project. Recruit friends and start your own RP. But if you have time to post in the Parlor but you don't even bother to try and help out around the guild, then I'm afraid this guild isn't meant for you. Just imagine this: If you're at work and there's no people at the moment, does that mean you can just sit down and scratch your butt? No. Most places will tell you to find something to do instead of sitting down and doing nothing. No one likes to see a worker do nothing. It's the same thing here.

Inactivity is understandable if we're all busy with life. But if you consider yourself active but you're unable to help out around the guild, at least let us know so we know who we can count on. I mean this in a non-rude way.

My suggestion is an entire guild wipeout. We've reached that point where we have waaaay to many inactive members that have probably forgotten about the guild by now. They get a warning: if they still don't do anything about it, they're gone. Not like they'll mind. If they come back, then they still have a week to prove themselves. This would be an organized wipeout, though. None of that nonsense that has happened before where a single person apparently 'plans out' the whole thing.

I'm just tired of people just sitting back and waiting for people to deliver the goods. Again, like Wielder said, we're no one's maid.

Honestly, I'm trying to get on once a day, just to check up on how things are doing in a couple guilds and my PMs. I will join an RP, but I don't feel like I have the time to make one, nor the talent for making one that would last. I was going to be a judge for the tournament, but no longer feel as though I have the time.

I don't feel like I have the time to recruit, but my form of recruiting would be copying one of Wielder's threads, posting it, then bumping or talking to random people. I don't think in a mass recruiting format. I think in a small group, at the most. It's just how I am.

I give two shits. I give more than two shits. I just don't feel like I can do much more than post in an RP once, maybe twice a day.

And that's perfectly fine. You're also 'training' in the Parlor for the tournament so that itself is considered being part of a RP. Even if you weren't part of one, it is obvious you care about the guild and want to help despite the fact that you've got no time to spare right now. We know you're alive, at least.

I'm talking about the rest of the members who either a)Only bother to post in the Parlor or b)Have disappeared without a reasonable explanation and don't give a rat's hat about the guild. And I'll say it right now: If I see someone posting in the Parlor and NOT posting here, I will start start scolding people in public. You know when you're in a classroom and you do something wrong and the teacher humiliates you by standing in the corner for the rest of the period while everyone obviously stares? And you know perhaps the best thing to do was to pull you aside and talk to you in private but you know he didn't just to teach you a lesson? Yeah, kinda like that.

At least when I lose interest in a guild, I have the decency to be honest and fair by quitting the guild instead of acting as dead weight in some random Memberlist that I probably don't care about. ¬/¬

I know that Darius left willingly, and I also don't blame Weilder for that situation. Regardless, Darius was a very important part of the guild. While it would be unrealistic to claim that we need him to survive, I think it's fair to state that he helped keep guild activity flowing and brought fresh ideas to the table. And while Darius left willingly, it was a choice instigated by outside forces, so it's more complex than him feeling like he needed to take a break.

I agree with a complete guild wipeout, and that everyone should be looking out for new RPers. New members' number one desire should be to Roleplay, which will create more guild activity.

Yeah, he was motivated about doing something about the guild's situation. I like the guy and I think he's pretty awesome and this is why I'll say the following.
He is not desperately needed in order to rebuild the guild.
I've always said that no one is indispensable. If everyone was as motivated as Darius was, we wouldn't even notice people like Darius. Or Wielder. So why can't be more like the guy? Why can't we just take action, come up with our own projects, care about the guild? If he set the bar and everyone applauds him for it, that means he's a role model. Then why isn't anyone trying to follow his footsteps?
Now, Darius had his reasons for leaving, yes. He doesn't have to come back to ensure our survival. I trust most of us here and independent and can do great things. We're not little helpless kids. Darius is welcomed here but if our reasons from wanting him back are "OMG! Help us! Come back here and deal with the guild's problems with little help from the rest! D8" then no. I don't want him back. In fact, I would advice him not to come back for his own good.

Please don't get the impression that I am saying we need Darius back to get the guild back on its feet. We are capable of doing this ourselves, in every capacity. I am also not suggesting that we should beg for his forgiveness or do anything to humiliate ourselves or anyone in an attempt to regain his support. I am saying that, once we have made headway and positive progress in the guild's growth, we should contact him again, show him the progress that we've made, and that his presence is wanted and appreciated.

This guild isn't solely dependent on any one person, and we need to dispel any sort of belief stemming from it.

Now, for the secondary purpose of this thread.

Seeing how many people are active enough to see it.

Not many.

We've got Gear, Ferr, K', and Strifer. That's honestly a very vital piece of info. Previously, I was assuming we had about 20 or so. My ideas were based on that. This was incorrect, as we've got five, maybe a couple more.

This changes everything. Here's what I want to do:

Clean the Guild. Delete or Archive almost every thread, remove ALL members but us and the rest of the crew, tell them they can rejoin if they plan to be active. Clean the Guild. When we're finished, open our doors again, and start over.

Please discuss this plan.

The plan seems fair enough to me. If anything it might spur lurkers in to rejoining and posting.

Perhaps we could open another thread to decide which threads would end up in the archives and which ones would not? OR we could do it here.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 07, 2010 1:28 pm

I support this plan. To be honest when I joined GML it was a place for literate RPers to come, network, join other RPers who needed a hand, and to help build an RP group of notoriety and reputation.

No one but us is doing that now, and it looks like no one will unless we give them a reason. That reason would be to remove everyone from the guild and have them show us they really stand by the GML's code.

For any of you that are not in the above mentioned list, I just opened a new RP thread in RP Haven that I will be presiding over. I highly suggest you join. NOW.

Appears in a poof of smoke. "Oi, I just got here! So that's why I don't want to be banned!" Poofs away...

Just to toss it out there and such, no one has any real reason not to read the annoucements.
I quit sometime back, and still read on every announcement and when people ask me for a recommended guild for RP's i send them this way (which as of late has been making me look bad ^^ wink but I do it anyway~
Regardless I will be rejoining you guild and becoming an "active" member come about January 12th or so. So just a heads up.
