Emerald Pools
Within the tropical rainforests of the area, a traveller might stumbled upon a beautiful sight; large pools, even lakes of water with an intense blue or green colouration. They have arrived at what is known as the Emerald Pools.

The pools vary in size and shape, scattered seemingly randomly in this area and this area alone. Small streams and low, gentle waterfalls connect some while others are completely isolated. The forest around it abounds with life and vegetation, sustained by a perfect mix of nutrients, sunlight, and water.

It is said that the waters are always pure and clean, and that this, as well as its colour, is owed to a certain Pokemon rumoured to live in these forests...

”We’ve been lazy for far too long, team! Get up!” The Vaporeon shouted in the early hours of the morning, waking everyone up. Usually she was the one to sleep in until noon, but she felt a sudden burst of inspiration to actually do something today, not just lay around eating Pecha Berries all day while listening to Tiki try and teach Dash how to write. (But completely and utterly failing, as expected.) They shouted at each other the whole day, and never got anything accomplished. But it was fun to watch.

Dash curled up in to fetal position digging his face into his pillow, signifying his unwant for anything and everything that was expected of him. Odyssey was nowhere to be found, as usual. He was probably training since the first sign of sun, somewhere that the team didn’t care about. Odyssey was very independent and no one dared stand in his way of doing anything. Rattata Tiki crawed out from an elaborate 2-cardboard box house and snapped at Noelle. ”Why… did you suddenly change today? I don’t like change. “ And with that he scampered back into his… house?

April May, on the other hand, was up and ready to go. She recently decided to not speak in haikus anymore. She was definitely, definitely not forced by a certain Vaporeon. No way, that wasn’t happening. She simply… thought it was stupid, and a waste of time, which coincidentally happened to be Noelle’s view of it. Strange, huh? ”Why, good morning to you! Noelle, I see you!” She did slip up sometimes, and accidentally made five or seven syllable sentences. Perhaps she just wanted to annoy Noelle? ”I’m ready to go, let us be off to the board! I assume a mission?” Okay, maybe she didn’t ‘slip up.’

Noelle shot a death glare. Anyone else coming? No? Noelle cringed at the thought of having to do a whole entire mission with this… excited little Clefable. ”Dash? Tessa? Come on, please? …The more… The merrier?” SOMEONE, PLEASE. Tessa lifted her head from her small pond. ”I’ll be very happy to go if there is possibly some source of water around. It’s awfully hard to keep up an aqua ring for an extended period of time. You should know that well yourself.” It was true. Noelle was horrible at remembering to keep an aqua ring when she was somewhere dry, like a desert. ”Yes, yes! We’ll definitely find something with water… Er… and land too, don’t worry May.” Anything as long as someone else came too.

-

”This one is suitable, right?” Tessa pointed to a mission on the board that went to Emerald Pools and spoke quietly. ”I’ve heard about this place from my sister… she went here once, to visit her friend, and said it was beautiful. From then on… I really wanted to go there. A-And it has land too! So May can walk.” She admitted. From the way her sister had described it, it seemed like paradise for water and land Pokemon alike.

Noelle nodded and ripped the mission of the board for further inspection. ”I like that. I hope it really is pretty, because I don’t want to see some boring place like that mansion that we found May in.” She flicked her tail in the way of the small Clefable, and it put its head down shamefully, pulling the gravity down as well. She tended to accidentally change gravity with her moods, ever since she learned how to as a Clefairy. Tessa’s head went down slightly, as did Noelle’s tail. She gasped. ”Oh dearie me, I’m very sorry!” She brought it back to normal very quickly and blushed. It’s hard to handle immense psychic power you know!

-

The Emerald Pools really was just as beautiful as they could have imagined. The whole place had a tropical-y feeling, and it was pleasantly warm. Soft flowing waterfalls spilled clear blue water into small and large ponds, swirling the water gently. Bug Pokemon were scattered about, eating grass and flying around with lit-up backs, giving the already sunlit area a nice glow. It was extremely peaceful; there was no way you could be stressed out here. Even Noelle’s usually pouty face softened into a slight smile.

Tessa inhaled deeply through her nose and closed her eyes. ”Just as my sister had said.” She shook her head firmly though, to get herself back into the real situation. This place was beautiful and relaxing, but there were still wild Pokemon that could attack from any direction. ”Hm. We still have to watch out.” She said strongly, and braced herself for battle. A shiny Finneon jumped out from a pond behind them. Tessa squealed and flinched in surprise. Oh, it was only splashing water. She began to relax when a Volbeat flew into her face. ”Ooh! Excuse me there; I didn’t mean to hit ya.” He smiled as Tessa tensed up. The tiny bug Pokemon buzzed in all directions rapidly. ”I’m supposed to be lookin’ fer a rescue team. Perhaps ya know where one could be?”

April-May jumped happily. ”We are who you are looking for! We are going to rescue you, wheee!” He spun around on her tiptoes like a ballerina. ”You’re so lucky to live in a place like this!” She said in a sing-songy voice. Some people are just easily excited.

”Yes, yes. It’s real nice, normally no one fights ‘round here, and—OH MY ROMANI RANCH! Look at that poor Surskit!” The tiny Volbeat said, pointing a small finger towards a deep pool. He cowered in fear.

A teeny, baby Surskit was being hung from her tail by a thin rope above a pool of water, slowly being lowered down by a Buizel and a Marill from a cliff above. A Krabby was waiting below, probably to cut the rope. ”C’mon! You gotta tell us where that treasure is! Or… or… we’ll kill you!” The Marill said not so threateningly. In a small, quiet voice, the Surskit replied. ”B-but… My mommy told me not to.” She said, frantically clutching the air yet still managing to keep a calm voice. ”Pfff get a load of this kid. Mommy this, mommy that. What are you, three?” He laughed gravelly to his partners. The Surskit pouted. ”I’m actually six, thank you very much.” Even though she was being lowered down slowly upside down, she still could be humorous.

Noelle slid to a stop on the damp ground. ”Sigh… You guys just HAD to make trouble for us. We were having a nice, peaceful conversation with a Volbeat, but you HAD to ruin it for us. And plus, abusing babies isn’t nice.” The Vaporeon jumped into the water to aim for the Krabby, who sensed danger and was trying to climb up the rope to cut it so the Treecko would fall. A precise Hydro Pump to the Krabby blew him off the rope and he slammed into the cliff side, and then fell off into the water.

April-May hopped onto the battlefield as well, jumping high onto the cliff and delivering a few fierce slaps to the face to both of the Pokemon up there. ”How dare you hurt, such an innocent child!” Her cheeks puffed up and she pursed her mouth while she put out slap after slap.

Tessa slipped into the water to help Noelle with the Krabby and to also protect the Surskit in case she fell. Noelle jumped up rocks to get up where May was once the Krabby was unconscious, and started shooting thick ice beams at the enemies.

They must’ve been tired or something, because it was only after a little bit of fighting that they gave up. ”That little Surskit is up to something. She… has… a weird something .” The Marill said, breathing heavily then going unconscious.

-

As Noelle and May came down from the cliff, the Volbeat met them. ”OH GEEZ, I completely forgot! The mission! I’m so sorry!” Noelle hung her head. The mission! How could she forget?! Things like this couldn’t distract her anymore. But that little Surskit needed her help! Speaking of which… Noelle turned around, and saw Tessa getting the Surskit down from the rope. She breathed a sigh of relief.

”Heehee! That’s alrighty! It wasn’t really a mission anyway, I just need somethin’ to light up the show tonight! If anyone of ya guys has a shiny move, that’s all we need!” The Volbeat smiled widely. ”Oh right! Ya’ll don’t know my name! It’s Thomas! But I go by Toms, usually. Hehe~!” He flew a short distance away. ”Follow me to the festival, guys!”

”But…but… baby Surskit.” Noelle said, as Tessa came up to shore with a scared Surskit attached to her neck, refusing to let go. ”This… is Amelia. And… she doesn’t want to go home.” Tessa raised her eyebrows. ”Please get her off of me. She’s sliding.” Amelia slowly slid down Tessa’s slimy neck, but was plucked up by May, and put on her head while she walked around.

”Please wait Thomas! We must take her home right now. Her mom is worried.” The Surskit curled it legs around the Clefable’s puff on her head. ”Nuh. I want so stay with you guys… At least for the festival. I want to see the pretty lights.” Well… if she wanted to see the lights, that was probably okay, right? Still, she was a small child. Well then again, Dash is a kid and manages himself quite finely. Amelia seemed to be pretty independent as well. So it was probably okay. ”Weeeelll… sure. I guess. Come along.” Noelle shrugged and began walking in the direction of Thomas. ”Yaaaay!”

-

”This is where the light show is held. Every year many Volbeat and Illumise—well that doesn’t exclude other Pokemon from participatin’—fly about above this very large pool.” Everyone looked down into the water. It was so clear, you could see all the way to the bottom. ”This is the embarrassin’ part… Uh… You practice a routine with your partner, usually. But… mine isn’t here, if you noticed.” The Illumise was at home with a case of dark tail and couldn’t come. ”That’s where you guys come in! Someone, anyone with a bright move just has to shoot it up er something.”

”I would really love to help… but the only bright move I have is Flamethower… and I really don’t know how to use it, and I would probably injure you all.” Tessa felt like a dead weight. She didn’t really do anything this whole mission.

”Same with me. I have Aurora Beam, but I don’t want to shoot you guys down while you’re flying.” It would probably end extremely badly. But… Probably not as bad as burning them to a crisp though.

May put two hands out and created two balls of light in the shape of a sphere. ”I can help you guys! I can help!” As she waved her fingers the balls of light moved with them, flying through the air at great speeds.

”Th-that’s perfect! It’s even brighter than our biggest Volbeat! Yes, that’ll work perfectly, missy!” Toms nodded at the Clefable. ”It’s about to start! Ev’ryone get in your places! Er, I mean, the Clefable get in your place.” He shrugged. May pouted. ”I am April-May, and I will help you, you see? Cosmic Power helps.”

”Uh, okay then. Now get that move ready. I’m gonna fly around, all you gots ta do is either follow my tail, or move around me, or somethin’! I’m sure you’ll do fine.” He shrugged, then flew into the air swiftly and speedily. May put down one hand, only needing one light to complete the show.

--

The light show started off with all the Volbeat on one side of the lake and all the Illumise on the other side, of course with May’s clumsy, large ball amongst them. The two sides met and danced around with the pairs, then separated, still in pairs, around the outer rim, and danced around there. It was mostly just ballroom dancing in different places really. 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 was how the rhythm of the music went, and the same as the dancing. Amelia clapped with her leg… things the entire time, bright eyes. Tessa couldn’t help but smile.

--

”Phewie! That was some good dancin’ there, May!” Thomas flew down after the show. ”Thanks. It was really easy. Aren’t you tired?” Thomas laughed heartily. ”Pff, of course not! Flying is just like walking for you guys.” He shrugged. Anyways, thanks for the help, yup yup! I really appreciate it. Without ya’ll, they would’ve had to change the entire show! If one pair is missin’ the whole thing has to be changed! And since I’m on the planning committee you guys double saved me! By golly, I can’t thank you enough.” He nodded. ”Welp, that was a very nice time I spent with your guys, but I ought to be checkin’ on my partner by now, see if she’s alright.” He did a small goodbye nod, and he buzzed off.

”Alright, Amelia. You have to go back now.” Tessa lifted the Surskit from her head with her tail and placed her on the ground. She looked groggy, it was probably way past her bedtime. The little thing yawned cutely. ”Alright.” She said slowly, and walked away, towards the pools once again. ”Uh… I think she’ll be able to make it.” Tessa said to the group, but really just trying to convince herself. ”Kay then. With that, we’re off! Nice mission everybody.”

“You want to relax in a time like this?”

Darius stared down the rather uninterested looking Primeape whose response was merely a puzzled, slow nod. Maybe only the guilds knew of the real issues and civilians just did their thing until news hit the public. After all, once he thought about it, he never has seen requests from commoners involving “Help! A god is trying to kill me!” or anything of the sort.

Darius scratched his head with a sigh before turning his lone eye to the Misdreavus hovering next to him. She as well gave a confused blink at Darius’ reaction to such a request.
She didn’t seem to speak all that much after recruitment. Sai and him started referring to her as Taciturn due to her behavior within the first real day she was in the guilds. Taciturn hardly changed much since despite it really only being a few days since-- Maybe nearing a week.

“Alright, let’s get a move on then. I don’t want to have Sai alone for very long.” Darius turned, looking out from the Guild’s outskirts at which they stood and toward a forest looking area in the distance.

The three reached the Emerald Pools’ entrance. The change in scenery was rather instant as Darius stepped cautiously into the area, his steps not nearly as cautious as the other two behind him that preferred eyes first, feet after.

“Well, at least you picked a nice spot.”

Darius’ voice broke the silence after a few moments of the three of them blankly staring around the rather relaxing forest. Why were they called pools though? He didn’t see water, he didn’t hear water... Might as well bring it up.
Darius took a slight breath before a Caterpie fell from a tree branch above him and onto the Zangoose’s head, weighing down his ears.
He panicked, hitting it off with his electrified paw. It fell on the ground with a slight twitch before getting zapped by Taciturn’s Psybeam. She giggled after.

Darius turned to the Primeape once the issue was now over with and quickly casted aside his panic. It might have been due to getting surprised, but who’d believe him. Either way, he still didn’t know this Primeape’s name.
“Explain why exactly this place is renowned for pools, if you don’t mind… And what would your name be?”
Darius didn’t bother making eye contact. His attention was mainly elsewhere, like why there were no pokemon crawling around. It might have been safe to assume they were by the water. He began to walk into the forest

The Primeape look back at Darius from his original gaze on the forest floor. He was silent for a moment but eventually closed his eyes. “That’s not of your concern. As for the Pools, they’re in the core of the forest. It’s larger than you’d expect.”
Darius glared at him for a moment. At least he answered half of the question. The part he needed as well. Darius couldn’t care less about who he was, but asking anyway became second nature.
You know, I bet this mission wouldn’t be a pushover either.

“And… I assume you want to go to the Pools.”

“I’m… a little curious…” Taciturn turned to the Primape with large orange eyes, scanning him carefully.
“I haven’t seen any Pokemon here yet... Why did you need guidance?”

Darius looked over his shoulder at the Misdreavus before quickly turning his head forward again. That might have been the most she’s said yet.
The Primeape shrugged slightly. “I come from a large family...”

Taciturn smiled weakly. A family sounded nice.

“… I don’t exactly get along with my Uncle though.”

Taciturn’s smile slowly vanished. Darius started mentally drowning out the conversation now before it could get started. “I’m sorry… I shouldn’t have said anything…”
Taciturn’s eyes quickly adverted elsewhere. The Primeape just smiled and waved his hand. “It’s fine, we’d might as well pass time.”

“You can pass time and pay attention.” Darius quickly intervened. His voice seemed distant as Taciturn and the Primeape looked up as the ground made rather quiet vibrations. The three remained silent but Darius’ eye seemed locked on something and the vibrations became clearer with time. The two made their way over to Darius and Taciturn was the first, and only to yelp. Darius was quick to turn and growl at her.

A large, close by Tropius turned toward the sound with an angered expression, it’s eyes catching onto the group quickly and the inside of it’s mouth began to glow.

Darius growled, turning back to the frozen Primeape quickly.
“Move you idiot!” he barked, causing the Primape to turn and hide almost instantly. During that time Darius vanished into a Quick Attack and Taciturn hid in the ground as the Solar Beam was released.
The Primape, obviously not anywhere far from coughed as debris flew and trees tore out of the ground.

Darius reappeared next to the Tropius with Gungnir tight in his grip at his side. He stared at the Tropius in rage as it slowly turned it’s eyes to the aggressive Zangoose and attempted to crush him with his large paw.
Their differences proved well on Darius’ end as he quickly hopped back before swinging the spear at full force against the creature’s leg, causing it to yelp in pain and step back.

Taciturn emerged from the ground behind it, she stayed at eye level as she released a fury of small Shadow Balls at the Tropius. It continued to growl aloud as it stepped back again in slight confusion, but well aware there were multiple attackers. It released a Leaf Storm in it’s anxious state and Taciturn was quick to retreat into the ground.
Darius’ body on the other hand seemed to evade the attack instinctively as his Detect triggered in response to the Leaf Storm. His eye quickly locked onto the Tropius again as he cancelled the evasion with another Quick Attack and jumped into the air, slamming his fist against the large Troupis’ side. It was quick to collapse and Darius, still airborne threw Gungnir into the Tropius’ side he’d already hit as he landed and the spear vanished with a soft growl from the Tropius.

Darius sighed and walked back to the Primape whom he assumed was still hiding in a tree, or under a rock… Or where ever else kind of hiding places there were that Sai would too take advantage of.
Taciturn reemerged from the ground with a blink, before following after Darius. Her pace slowed over the Troupis as it glared up at her. Weakly, but it was indeed a glare.
She yelped slightly before quickly returning to Darius.

Darius sighed upon his return to where they’d left off, staring down at the Primeape behind a rock that’d been grazed by the Solar Beam. He slowly looked up at the impatient Zangoose before standing up himself.
“Thank you…”

Darius turned and continued on his way. He was truly ready for the mission to be over. Of course whenever “Mission time!” Came up, he was ready to run out as quickly as possible. It never worked.

Taciturn watched him before looking at the Primeape, she smiled again. “You’re… alright, right?” She started to float backwards toward Darius though facing the Primeape. He took a breath and nodded in reply and walked after the two.

“I think… he’s always like that.” Taciturn broke the silence between her and the Primeape. He blinked and looked up at her, though she didn’t bother turning back. Not like Darius was paying attention anyway. He was a short ways ahead too.

“You think?”

Taciturn nodded. “I haven’t been here long… but… He didn’t seem too enthusiastic about being in the Manor I met him at.”

So she was a recruit… He nodded after a moment. “Everyone’s different. He must have been important to be so confident.”

Taciturn was silent as she thought about his comment. He did seem rather protective over Sai. “Maybe you’re right…” She nodded and smiled again. “Let’s go catch up.” Taciturn gave a quick giggle before quickly flying after Darius. The Primeape watched her before taking a breath and running after the two.
The three continued on their walk for some time until Darius halted again. His ears heightened and twitched before he ran off toward the sound of water, the two others close behind.
He halted at the edge of a large pool. There were three smaller ones within walking distance, but so far this was all they found. As far as Darius was concerned, this was all they needed to find.

Darius gave a sigh as he crouched down and stared into the water, his teammate was quickly behind him, smiling brightly at the glistening water as she giggled and flew over Darius toward the water, hovering above it before dropping down into it. There was no splash, no nothing. Just a Ghost sitting in the water ‘splashing’ and giggling.

Darius soon glanced over his shoulder back at the Primeape.

“Well, this is what you wanted right?” He asked before turning his head back to the water. The Primeape smiled back at him.

“It’ll do. Thank you for your time.”

Darius waved his paw in response. It felt more like a “whatever” rather than a “you’re welcome”

“So, why exactly are you so arrogant?”

Darius glanced back at him again. “What does that make you for asking?” He looked back toward Taciturn, who was still floating around in the water… honestly, from his point of view it looked depressing since she couldn’t even technically feel it or be in it.
The Primeape was quiet for a few moments.

“I’m arrogant because I can be. I’m not when I don’t want to be. It’s as simple as that. Why am I? Because I don’t want to be here. That’s fairly simple as well. Trust me, if you’ve seen half the s**t I have, you’d see the world in a different way as well.”

“What makes you so sure I haven’t?”

“That’s a poor response. These things are rather obvious, sorry.”

The Primeape nodded again. Darius was right to some extent. “Well—“

He was cutoff quickly by Taciturn yelping and flying out of the water in panic as the surface around where she once was froze. Darius was quick to jump up, growling at the Barboach swiftly swimming around in the water. Stupid little fish was dangerous on a few levels.
It jumped out of the water, releasing a stored Future Sight at the Primeape and Darius and Darius of course being the only one to respond tackled his stunned client out of the way; he himself barely grazing the force of energy as he winced slightly. They hit the ground with a thud.
Taciturn hit the Barboach with a Confuse Ray while her teammate was down for a few seconds and the fish was still airborne. It landed back in the water and swam around frantically in confusion as the water made small, to mild vibrations due to the fish’s spontaneous uses of Magnitude.

Taciturn looked down at Darius and the Primeape as they got up, Darius hunched for a moment in slight pain before straightening his back. It stung pretty ******** bad.
He glared down at the fish that was still rather aimless. It fired a Water Pulse at random and Darius quickly ducked. The assault flew over him and hit a tree—it gave a harsh shiver and remained slightly wilted.
Darius snapped back up straight and turned to look at the tree before returning his gaze to the Barboach. His Primeape client was already hiding.

That b*****d, wasn’t he cut out for fighting naturally?

Taciturn threw a Shadow Ball at the Barboach, but had a rather assuring miss due to it’s confusion. She sighed and moved back as Darius stepped forward, his fist beginning to spark until the ground shook and the water went calm.

Darius’ paw returned to normal as he and Taciturn tensed and glanced around during the short calm.

“That’s an Earthquake.”
The Primeape’s voice rang from a short distance as he made his way into a tree and Darius grabbed the base of his ears in anger aided by a pretty loud growl.
He jumped into the air as the Earthquake went off, Taciturn remained off the ground, unaffected.
The Barboach hopped out of the water at Darius, it’s horn glowed as it prepared a Mud Bomb, but it was too late as it was met by Darius’ fist and slammed back into the water with a burst of power. It was dazed for a moment laying there motionlessly as Gungnir hit the fish soon after. The Barboach didn’t last long after.
Darius landed in the knee deep water rather gracefully before retreating back to land and went running deeper into the forest. <******** this pool, he was finding one without something waiting to kill them.

Taciturn blinked, watching her teammate run off… She looked back at the Primeape that finally made his way over to her and the two stared at each other before quickly following Darius.

Darius paused at a new pool in a quiet pant. It looked clear so far.
His eyes scanned the water carefully before turning to the minor commotion behind him. What could it be now…?

Taciturn ducked, about 20 feet away from Darius as an Energy Ball hit the tree behind her and she released another Shadow Ball in quick response toward her attacker followed by a Psybeam before it could react.
The attacker made a quick screech from the super effective hit and Taciturn sighed, before flying back to her teammate. It figures another one jumps at her from a bush she’d begun to pass but instead fell through the ghost.
She still made a slight yell in anger before zapping it unconscious with another Psybeam... twice.
Darius stared at her blankly.
Damn Lotads.

The Primeape followed behind Taciturn with a rather amused expression before sitting by the lakeside with a sigh.

“Again, thank you for your help. Sorry for the trouble.” He spoke aloud without adverting his eyes from the water. This far in, it was quiet and relaxing.

Darius looked at his teammate from a few feet back from where the Primeape sat. His eye eventually checked out his surroundings before resting a paw on the badge he had tied around his neck with a string.
Was easier than holding a bag.

“Yeah it’s good. Don’t expect us to pick you up though.” Darius replied as he scratched his ear and Taciturn flew down in front of the Primeape. He looked at her calmly. She smiled.

“I don’t know what happened between you and your family but… I know you’ll figure it out when you get back, right…? Don’t waste your life away if you don’t have to…”

He nodded at her. That’s true, they never did get to conversing about that but it might have been best left unsaid. He glanced at Darius again who’d been staring off elsewhere for the time being before turning back to the Misdreavus and nodding again.

“Yes. Don’t worry about that, we’ll get it all figured out sooner or later.”

“Sooner?”

“…I’ll try.”

Taciturn bounced a bit in the air happily before floating back to Darius. He looked back at her then the Primeape. His gaze over him didn’t seem to change much, but something was different. It might have been best left alone as well. Provoking him didn’t sound like a good idea.

“Well, I hope you two enjoy the guilds. It was nice having some decent company for our short lived adventure.”

Taciturn nodded in reply as Darius rested his paw on the badge again. He yet again took a moment to look around making sure nothing here was left waiting to knock out their client with them not there to stop it.

“Yeah. Don’t stress it.” Darius finished before teleporting the two back to the guilds.

The Primeape watched the two as they left. He remained watching the area for a moment as quiet turned to silence and he smiled; turning his head back toward the water.

It was a few days later when a postcard of all things reached the team's room. It was attached to a large, brown-paper wrapped package.

The postcard itself had a picture of the Primeape they had escorted relaxing at the pools. He seemed much happier there. "Hey there. Thanks again for the escort through the jungle. It was fun. I've decided to invite my Uncle to the pools so we can talk about things for a bit... he should be getting his letter around the same time as you get this one. Anyways, I've packaged your rewards with the postcard.

Thanks again.
"

Inside, the team would find a Calm Mind TM (as promised) along with a Reversal TM.

It wasn't long either before recruits came looking for the team as always. The Caterpie as well as both Lotad they had beaten up earlier showed up, all three of which were looking to join the team.

Rewards!
Calm Mind TM
Reversal TM
Mission Points x2 for 16 floors.

((For Wine))

A few days later a package was sent to Team Glace's Team Room. Inside they would find a small stone that when held would begin to glow...it seemed to be seeping some sort of power? Along with it was a small bag of some sort of white powder. A little tag came with it, explaining it as 'BrightPowder", which can produce a bright flash of light when disturbed, like throwing it out of its bag.

Two pokemon also came looking for the team, hoping to join; a buizel and a surskit. Only one can.

Rewards!
Tail Glow TM
Brightpowder
Recruit Options: Buizel, Surskit

A knock at the door sent Chronicler to open it. It was early in the morning, and no one else was awake yet. She had gotten up early in order to get some more writing done. With a yawn she opened the door and blinked in surprise at the visitor. There were two of them, both Manectrics, and one was definitely familiar.

"Hello Zosee." Chronicler greeted the one she knew, and then turned to the other Manectric. "And who might you be?"

"Valkist." He answered curtly. "Is Morana awake?"

Chronicler recognized the name of course. Valkist was Morana's father. The Cherrim hesitated for a second, examining the stricken expression on Zosee's face and the grim one on Valkist's. Zosee had disappeared several days ago, at around the same time the Hospital informed them that her son Zoey had died. They had been taking care of Zora since.

"I'll get her." Chronicler promised, gesturing for the two to come in as the grass-type hurried across the room to the small dog bed that Morana was curled up in, and quickly woke the Houndour up. She rolled over and off her bed with a yawn, blinking as she noticed her two family members and quickly hopped to her feet.

"Dad! Zose!" She greeted, her tail wagging so fast it was a blur. The smile slipped off her face and her tail slowed when she saw their expressions though, and she remembered what had happened to her poor nephew.

"What...happened?" She asked almost fearfully.

"Your mother is sick. Severely so. Along with most of the pack." Valkist told her, and the Houndour was at her father's side in an instant, eyes wide.

"How? What's causing it?" She asked, and the Manectric shook his head.

"We don't know. We haven't had an outbreak of illness like this ever before. It's not just affecting the pack either, other Pokemon species are falling sick as well." He explained. "We're here to warn the guild and to ask for aid."

Morana nodded slowly, then looked back over her Team room.

"I...I'm going to visit mom." She told her father, who immediately shook his head.

"No dear, it's too dangerous. It might be contagious. The less traffic we get between the forests and the other areas the better." He told her firmly. "Don't you worry about your mother, she's a tough one."

Morana's ears flattened against her head as she took a step back, tail tucked fearfully between her hind legs. She didn't like the sound of this, any of this.

Pluto glared at the papers as he read through them. In front of him patiently sat an old Manectric waiting for him to finish. The old Leafeon dropped the paper halfway through, placing one paw thoughtfully over it as he mulled it over it.

Goddamnit. It's always something. If it's not gods, or that crazy weavile, or hell itself, it's a large-scale natural disaster.

"This has been the fifth report I have received regarding the Eastern Forests." Pluto told the Manectric with a tired sigh. "Why do you not go to The Guild of the Morning Star? It is their territory and they are in a much better position to help."

The Manectric named Valkist straightened.

"With all due respect sir, Frost is young and my pack does not trust him. Most of the Teams are staying at the Palace of the Sun anyways, and the elders believe that the Guild of the Sun has much more power and ability to deal with this. All we need is a few healers, and we are aware that you have highly trained hospital staff."

Pluto kneaded his forehead with a paw, and waved Nova away as she moved to get him some medication.

"This isn't just restricted to one portion of the forest. I've gotten reports from various places. Tell me, is your pack located near a flowing source of water?"

The Manectric nodded.

"Yes, we live by the river known as Styx by my pack. It flows from the rainforest."

"I thought so." Pluto murmured, and then continued more loudly, though still in his quiet raspy voice. "We believe that the source of the problem comes from the river."

There was silence as Valkist digested this information. The implications...their river was but one tributary of the river that fed all of the eastern rainforests.

"This is...this is terrible. Has the guild found out what the cause of the disease is?" Valkist asked, and Pluto shook his head.

"No. I am just about to send a team to investigate."

"I will guide them." Valkist offered, and Pluto nodded.

"You said you are of Team Firestorm? You are still registered with the guild I believe. I will-" Pluto began, but was interrupted by a knock at the door. Both of them turned their attention to it as the Metang by the door, a computer that hosted the Porygon2-program known as Adme sprang to life, its eyes glowing blue.

"Who's there?" Pluto rasped quietly to the Metang.

"One moment Master Eclipse. Scanning visitor...scanning...scanning...Psychic Scan failed. Dark Type confirmed. Visual Scan initiating...scanning...scanning...your visitor is confirmed to be Vito sir."

The old Leafeon straightened, and quickly turned back to the Manectric.

"Valkist, you have my permission to find a team and take them with you to investigate the Eastern River." He told the electric-type, who nodded and turned towards the door, recognizing that he was being dismissed.

"Thank you, I will take my leave."

The door glimmered in a slight Psychic as the Metang opened it, revealing an old Weavile at the door. Valkist bowed briefly to the Dark-Ice type before disappearing down the hallway.

Morana waited anxiously at the door of the Guild as she has every day for the past few days, glancing at the horizon, waiting to see her father and the team he had gone with. That morning they came back, him and two tired looking Pokemon, a Lucario and an Alakazam. The Shiftry that had gone with them was missing.

Morana very quickly bounded to her father's side, burying her face in his fur as he nuzzled her affectionately. He looked exhausted, his feet dragging a little as he walked. As they went into the castle to report their findings Valkist explained what he knew to her daughter.

"It's poison." He told her wearily. "The entire river's been poisoned. Pecha berries have been able to help, but it's strong and we haven't been able to treat anyone fully. It took us so long to get back because we started organizing groups of healthy Pokemon for a large scale emergency response. So far the Poison seems to be contained in the river for the most part, though it has seeped into other water supplies."

"I was able to neutralize some of it, but very little." The Alakazam offered. "But with the help of some resident Psychics we are able to maintain a scattering of clean water holes over the forests so that Pokemon living the river have somewhere safe to stay. It is only a temporary solution of course, but it will buy us time."

The Lucario kneaded his head with a large paw, his face fixed in a frustrated frown.

"We can't figure out what's causing it. It can't be natural- the Poison's Aura was thick, strong. It came from an incredibly powerful source. If we don't get rid of it soon the entirety of the eastern Forests will be wiped out. We...we have to find a way to cure those who've been poisoned." The Lucario's voice cracked slightly at the end, and the Alakazam was quickly by his side, placing a comforting hand on his friend's shoulder.

"He's a tough one, don't you worry. He'll survive this and we'll find a way to fix all this, I promise."

Morana was silent as they laid out the grim situation, her heart aching with the thought of her mother and everyone who was suffering from whatever phenomenon was causing the poison. She paused as they neared the Royal Familys' Chambers, where Pluto the current head of the sun Guild conducted audiences.

She waited outside as her father and the others went in, not feeling very confident to go face the old Leafeon. Being the leader of a Champion Rank team probably means she shouldn't be so intimidated by her guild leader, but she's still getting used to the idea of even being a Champion Rank team. And Pluto can be scary as hell.

Half an hour later the three came out. The Lucario and the Alakazam left together with their rewards as Valkist came up to Morana.

"That's all we can do for now. The guild will work on coming up with a solution, until then let's relax a bit. I'll be staying with your sister for the time being."

---

Nova yawned as she poured over one of her books, titled Toxins and Poisons: Signs, Symptoms and Cures with a large stack beside her. She was in the library, pouring through what material she could to come up with a solution to the problem in the Eastern Territory. It wasn't her job to really, but she felt like she should help in some way. As someone who's practised medicine for almost her entire life, she couldn't help but think that she should be able to figure out what caused the large amount of poison.

Dew, how's the analysis going? She asked her apprentice, who was in Pluto's room pouring over similar piles of books they had brought with them. The Chimecho was supervising Adme, who was running a Psychic analysis through CaSoVI of a sample of the tainted water brought by the investigating team. She was hoping that things would become clearer once they knew what the poison was made of.

She didn't expect Adme to spend more than a day and not be able to give any answers yet.

Still no results Nova. Except that it's confirmed to be lethal in small dosages to all Pokemon species, except Steel Types, and Poison Types should be resistant. It's concentration is fairly low in the water, but the amount to have polluted the entire river must be huge! Came his response, and Nova thanked him before going back to her work, knitting her brows together at the puzzle. A Poison that was so strong, even poison types were not immune to its effects?

Nova closed her current book with an irritated slam, setting it aside before carefully pulling another thick volume towards her. Part of her was determined to find Pluto's son tomorrow, Albus, and see if the Flareon may possibly be willing to either part with the Poison plate or go to the river himself. Maybe with the plate a sufficiently powerful Pokemon would be able to removed a purified sample of the poison that would be easier for Adme and CaSoVI to analyze?

Nova's work continued long into the night. She's not entirely sure when she fell asleep, but she knows that she was woken up by an excited Psychic prod in her mind from Dew.

Nova! Nova! We might have an answer! He told her, and she groggily lifted her head from the book she was sleeping on, the page full of diagrams of the leaves of various poisonous plants. It was early in the morning, and she could see weak dawn light streaking through the windows, lighting up the dusty air.

What is it? She replied tiredly through a yawn.

Just come over here.

With a groan she stretched her sore arms and legs from sleeping in such an awkward position, looked around at the mess, silently apologized to the librarian, and disappeared in a loud crack!

She materialized then in the middle of Pluto's room, discharging what Psychic powers she had gathered. She looked around the room, where Dew was floating over what appeared to be a purple Cherrim and an orange-winged Butterfree. Pluto was just emerging through the wall that separated the two halves of the room, Minerva behind him.

"Speak. What is it?" The Leafeon demanded, sounding more than a little grumpy but he was very attentive as the Cherrim pulled out a very small, thin book. The Leafeon scowled when he saw that it was what looked like a children's storybook. The Cherrim seemed sure of herself though, flipping through the first few pages until she stopped at one that was half-filled with a picture, half-filled with a story

"Read it!" The Cherrim bade everyone, putting it down on the ground and flipping it so that it faced Pluto. With a frown the Leafeon stepped forward. The picture depicted that of a burning building, what appeared to be a bird made of rainbows up above, with three Pokemon rising from the ashes.

A storm one night raged and roared, with all the fury and power of the silvery dragon that lived in the sea. Amidst this storm stood a tower, and a single bolt of lightning came down from the sky and struck it in an act of fate.

The lightning lit a fire, a fire that burned with no mercy, leaving nothing untouched in its path. It roared and flourished, feeding on everything it could reach. When its fury played out, the relentless rain doused it, smothered it, and soon the fire was no more.

Within the fire perished three Pokemon, and the Rainbow Bird took pity upon them. The Rainbow Bird flew down upon the remains of the tower, and raised all three from the grave: The Wild Lightning that stuck the tower, The Fierce Flame that devoured it, and the Purifying Rain that stopped the fire.

The three roamed the land, wild and free and rarely glimpsed by mortals. The Aurora and the North Wind followed wherever the Purifying Rain went, and this mystical Pokemon travelled from lake to river to pond and back. What water it touched was cleared of taint, blessed with its very presence. While the other two embodied the destruction of their homes, The Purifying Rain had quelled their rage and healed their destruction.

To this day they roam the land, the Thunder that roars in a storm, the Fire that consumes all, and the Rain, the Aurora, the North Wind- the mystical Suicune on a never ending mission to purify the world.

It was a familiar legend surrounding the Tower of Ashes in the central territory, one Pluto as well as most Pokemon these days knew. It was the legend of the Beast Trio, of the legendaries known as Raikou, Entei and Sui-

Suicune. Of course. The Legendary Suicune had the ability to purify and clean any water that it touches. If they could find the legendary, or even a semi-legendary, hopefully it would be powerful enough to rid the rivers of the poison.

The Cherrim was grinning widely, and the Butterfree came down to land on the ground. She was carrying a small bag, and started pulling some object out of it.

"We have a way to meet Suicune as well." The Cherrim continued, and helped the Butterfree extract what looked like a flute made of pure gold. It radiated a powerful aura, mystical energy. It was a Golden Flute.

Pluto blinked in surprise for a moment, wondering how they had gotten their hands on such an important artifact before remembering that a Team lead by a Houndour and a Larvitar had just recently reached the rank of Champion. Were these two members of Team Polaris?

"I see. This might work." Pluto murmured.

"Then can we go?" The Cherrim asked excitedly. "I've done my research- there's been sightings of a Suicune at Emerald Pools for years! Can we can we can we?"

Pluto nodded, a bit taken aback by her enthusiasm.

"Yes, go. Find Suicune and end this."

The Cherrim scooped up her book and the Butterfree picked up the back, and in seconds both were gone, the Cherrim looking extremely happy. Pluto shook his head then turned and tiredly walked back towards the domed portion of the room, gently nuzzling Minerva as he passed.

Let's hope this works.

---

Crown fluttered into the shop, a bag of PD slung across her back. She very quickly made her way to the counter, dropping the bag and calling over one of the Kecleon brothers.

"Good morning. I am here to purchase five Pecha Scarves." The Butterfree told the Kecleon, who took the 5000PD and went to look for his stock of the scarves. The Butterfree hovered nervously at the thought of the mission ahead for the team. She could only hope that the scarves would protect them from harm.

The Kecleon came back a few minutes later, using one of the scarves to help tie the others around the Butterfree's body. With a quick thanks she left to return to the team.

---

The Team prepared themselves. Crown handed out the scarves to each of the participants of this mission. Morana, Incultyr, Chronicler, Crescendo and Acer. The entire team except Crown, who will stay behind in the Team room in case any injured members were sent back and needs aid, as well to look after Zora. Zosee and Valkist prepared themselves as well, and they will travel with Team Polaris part of the way. Their destination was the Houndour pack.

"I'm so excited!" Chronicler exclaimed happily, barely containing herself as she hopped up and down. "I get to meet a legendary!" Which isn't an actually very rare occurrence in the Guild, but it is still an exciting prospect. It was the entire reason she had convince Incultyr to allow her to come.

That, and Aromatherapy. Chronicler had the ability to give off a scent that protected Pokemon from Poison. The danger in this mission is not so much the wild Pokemon. The danger in this mission was the poison.

"Is everyone ready?" Incultyr asked, securing the scarf around his neck, tying it off in the back in true Rescue Team fashion. All around him the Team nodded, and they set off.

As they passed through the streets of the City, people could see that they were an Exploration Team setting out. Each of them carried at least a small bag of supplies with them, and they walked silently, almost grim. Morana kept her head ducked, the tuft of hair above her skull slipping down to cover her eyes as she constantly worried over her mother and the rest of her sick pack. Her father and her sister walked beside her, quiet as they all digested the tragedies that have affected their family.

Acer trotted alongside Crescendo, the two young Pokemon having grown up together. Chronicler chatted animatedly with Incultyr, though the conversation was rather one-sided. The Team got a ride with a merchant's caravan just before they left the city, cutting down their travel time by quite a bit.

Valkist and Zosee left them part of the way, and the rest of the team continued with the Merchant Caravan into the jungle paths. Eventually, they got to a point where the caravan could go no further into the rainforest, the road too rough and uneven. They bade their farewells and dropped the team off, before turning back towards the main road.

The Team checked their supplies, and headed for the river. If they followed it up it should take them to the Emerald Pools. The forests were oddly silent, a hush that muffled the foggy forest floor with fear and uncertainty. Morana was amazed at how different this placed was from her memories- she remembered a lush, vibrant forest filled with life of all kinds. What was before them was anything but that. It was empty, deserted, the plants brown, grey, withering and dying.

The Team followed the jungle trail silently, glancing around nervously at the unnatural quiet. Each could almost feel the Poison in the air, going into their lungs with every breath- but no, the Poison was isolated to the water. They were fine, they told themselves, but the feeling lingered.

Morana and Incultyr lead the team in front, both tense and feeling ready for a fight though they expected little trouble with the state the forest was in. Chronicler and Acer walked side-by side behind them, the Cherrim looking a lot less sure of herself and the Turtwig staring all around him in awe. Despite the spooky feel of the forest, he's never been in a place so fully dominated by plants. Crescendo slithered behind them all, his head hanging, hating the feeling of death and decay that lingered over their surroundings.

The fog around them began to thicken, and the group huddled together closer instinctively. Then they saw the carnage.

It was something large, huge, that lay across the path. Its long neck was draped limply over the trunk of a fallen tree, the wood weakened and rotting. Large leaves protruded from its back, crumpled oddly under it. Morana took a step closer to investigate, and saw that the leaves were brown, dry, and cracked.

The head at the end of the neck suddenly gave out a low, pitiful cry and Morana jumped backwards, horrified. It was still alive! Barely, but it was.

"That's a Tropius." Chronicler murmured, seeing a single yellow fruit around its neck. it was mottled with brown, sickly looking. Crescendo looked on with horror, and quickly slithered to the Tropius's side, laying his head against that of the grass type. The others exchanged worried glances as Cress began to glow slightly, the glow seemingly to slip off of him onto the grass type, enveloping it in healing magic.

It seemed to murmur a thanks, and closed its eye.

The Tropius was not the first victim Team Polaris would find. As they continued walking through the path, the closer they got to the river, the more bodies they saw. One Magikarp flailed on the ground, having struggled to escape the river by splashing out onto land. A dead Carnivine hung from low branches of a tree. A Bellosom, too weak to walk, begged for help.

Crescendo very quickly began to take off his scarf to offer to the grass type, but Incultyr stopped him and took off his own, wrapping the shivering Bellosom in it. The grass type accepted it gratefully, wrapping herself with the small piece of cloth as if it was a blanket, willing it to shield her from the hostile environment.

"Stop right there intruder." A form cried out to them as they continued their journey. It came from a shadowy form, barely visible through the mists. Incultyr motioned for the group to stop, cautious. With such a disaster happening, Pokemon are bound to be defensive, but hopefully not aggressive.

"We're a Rescue Team. We're here to help." Incultyr declared. He jumped suddenly, stumbling and tipping onto his back as he sensed an attack coming in his direction. Quickly getting back onto his feet he saw sharp blades of leaves where he had been standing moments ago.

The entire Team tensed up, hustling together into a tight circle as they tried to gauge the direction of the attack.

"No more!" The voice cried angrily. "Intruders be gone! It was outsiders who brought this curse upon us, we need no more of your meddling!"

More attacks came at them from the mists, and Crescendo gave an alarmed cry as one of the Razor Leaves stuck him, embedding itself in his soft skin.

Startled, Chronicler instinctively wrapped her petals around herself. The Cherrim began to glow a brilliant light, illuminating everything around herself. As the rest of the party suddenly engaged in combat, her petals opened up and all of the light seemed to collect together, shooting outwards at the shadowy figure that was suddenly rushing towards them.

The Solarbeam hit him straight on, sending their would-be attacker back. A Treeko jumped onto Morana's back, having come somewhere from the trees but the experienced Houndour fell with the momentum of the small grass-type's jump, rolling over the Treeko and getting back onto her feet, leaving her dazed opponent on the ground.

Crescendo's cut was already sealing itself and he brought a barrier up before him as another Treeko and a Grovyle rushed in at him. The Milotic stayed on a purely defensive stance, unwilling to hurt anything amidst so much destruction and tragedy.

Incultyr however, had no problem with grabbing the Treeko that came at him, grappling it to the ground, and slamming it in the face hard enough to knock it out. He turned to throw aside the Treeko Morana had disabled, and the two turned to the creature that Chronicler had hit. He was getting up now, and probably very angry. Chronicler peeked out between her petals, wondering how the fight was going.

Acer rushed to Crescendo's help, leaping at the Grovyle. he soon had his jaws around the leaf that came out of the grass-type's head, but was surprised when it simply came off, leaving the Turtwig to tumble to the ground. The Grovyle was sickly and weak- his head-leaf thing had already started to wilt as was too weak to hold the young Pokemon's weight.

The Grovyle turned and lashed at Acer, who very very quickly realized he had landed on his shell. Flailing his legs in air, he could do nothing to turn back over as the large, stronger Pokemon descended.

A purple tail soon remedied this though, swiping around to slam into the Grovyle, sending the Grass type to crash into the bushes along the path. Crescendo hurried forward and helped Acer to his feet, turning to the remaining Treeko, blasting it away with a jet of water from his open mouth. Cress winced as he sent the Pokemon flying, apologizing silently.

Morana ducked under a swiping attack by the hulking Pokemon that had first spoke to them. She darted in under it arm, fire leaking around her fangs as she bit down on a leg. Her teeth cut through easily, and she recognized the texture of the flesh as plant. With a howl it doubled over in an attempt to get at her, but Incultyr was on him in a flash, a large piece of rock pegging it squarely in the face, toppling it backwards.

The battle was over in seconds. Morana examined the unconscious Sceptile she and Incultyr had taken down, and glanced at each other. The Grass type's words...did he just assume that someone poisoned the river, or has someone actually seen the Pokemon -or the group of Pokemon- that had caused all this?

The five quickly gathered together, Chronicler still wrapped tightly in her petals.

"Oh I don't like this place." She whined quietly. Crescendo slithered to her side and gently bugled an agreement. Incultyr nodded, looking ahead at the mist-obscured path.

"We'll get this done soon." He promised them. The closer they get to where the sights of Suicune had been reported, the better the chance that they'll actually meet the Legendary when they use the Flute. The flute only has enough magic to be used once.

They continued onwards into the mist until eventually the sound of rushing water reached their ears. The water was surprisingly clear, the river wide and slow-moving. Up above there was a narrow strip of the canopy that was open, and Chronicler peeked out from her petals at the slight touch of sunlight.

The scene would have been tranquil if not for something that became very obvious to the team very soon- the dark shapes floating on the water weren't fallen logs or the like. The river was filled with the bodies of dead Pokemon, many of them Fish-like Pokemon that could not escape the tainted waters.

Morana wrinkled her nose at the smell of death and decay, feeling quite sick. What could have caused such widespread destruction?

The Team followed the river upstream, rather subdued. Chronicler hid within her petals even though there was sunlight, unwilling to look at the scene in the river. There were still some Pokemon alive in the water, most sickly and dying. Though Cress seemed determined to stay and help them all Incultyr urged the team to hurry. No, they had to find Suicune first- it was the only way to save the most they can.

They happened upon the first pool quite suddenly. It was small and was nearly hidden by tall plants that surrounded it. A Bidoof dam was what had created this pool, and bodies were piled at the half-broken, abandoned dam. It was silent, unnaturally still.

Morana suddenly sneezed violently, the inside of her nose itching. She sneezed a second time, the force of it causing her to stumble. Incultyr and Chronicler quickly grabbed onto her in case she would stumbled in the water, but she was far away enough to be safe.

She sniffed, the itching not really going away and she realized there was some sort of odd smell in the air. It was oddly familiar, one she knows has something to do with the sneezing, she's dealt with it many many months ago...

"Hey, what are you kids doing here!?" A voice cried out, and the entire team jumped, turning towards the bush where the voice came from. They all crouched down, tense, ready for a fight. Morana sneezed again.

"Get away from the water, it's dangerous." A Breloom revealed itself, pushing aside some ferns into sight. The team visibly relaxed at those words; she didn't seem hostile. Though her voice was firm her actions showed how tired she was. Incultyr stepped forward.

"We're an exploration Team. We were sent by the Guild of the Sun." He explained, and she muttered something slightly before motioning for them to follow her.

"Yes yes, you're not the first ones. You better keep those scarves of yours on tight- they're not much protection against...whatever this all is." She told them, her tail swinging back and forth slightly, forcing the Team to keep some distance behind her to avoid getting hit. Morana trailed around the back of the team, the spores coming from the Grass type irritating her nose.

"We have a solution to the problem." Incultyr continued, and the Breloom suddenly stopped, turning around to face him.

"What is it?" She asked, a slight hint of hope in her voice.

"Suicune. It's been said that it lives here. Suicune has the ability to purify any water it touches, including-"

"-the river." The Breloom finished, thinking this over. "I have heard of the stories yes, but...does Suicune actually exist? How do we find it?"

"They're not just stories." Chronicler piped up. "Legendaries do exist. At the Guild we have met many. And though we have not fought a real Suicune, Darkrai created the image of one amongst many other legendaries. And we have a Golden Flute, which calls legendaries. If Suicune is around and if it's willing to help, it will come."

"It sounds...quite interesting at the guild." The Breloom commented, then turned back and continued walking. "This is good news. This is very good news. Come, we must tell the others. One of them might have a better idea of where sighting of Suicune have been."

"Who's the 'others'?" Incultyr asked, picking up his pace so that he was walking alongside the Breloom.

"A lot of groups have gathered together to help in any way they can. We've not much success since so many Pokemon are so sick. Me and my family have been doing everything we can. There's a group of Slowpokes helping us, their Slowking and a few Golduck have been maintaining an isolated pool of water. They keep it clean, so Pokemon have a place to get safe water. We've also been moving what water types we can into the pools. We have to be careful they don't bring any of the poison with them though, so we haven't had much success on that front..."

"About how big is your group?"

"Quite large; practically every Pokemon in the area has come to us. A lot of them are getting sick though, and we have to keep them away from everyone else. Me and my family are the only ones that are safe against the poison." Of course, the Shroomish line were known to not only be immune to poison, but they benefited from it.

A quarter-hour later they arrived at the pool. The area around it was rocky, the reason they had chosen this particular body of water. It would be harder for the Poison to get through rock than soil. It was extremely crowded, with Pokemon of all kinds in, around and above the water. There was a flurry of movement on the side of the water nearest them, where a cluster of Pokemon -a Breloom, a Golduck, and a Sunflora- were blocking the way of a hysterical Floatzel.

The Breloom with the team hurried down towards the water to figure out what was going on, and Team Polaris followed.

"No, miss, he can't get into the water. He's infected." The Golduck explained impatiently, and it was then that the team caught p and saw that the Floatzel was holding a young Buizel in her arms.

"How can you do this?" She wailed, trying to push past the other Pokemon but they firmly blocked her path.

"Dozens of pokemon here owe their life to my son! How could you, how could you!?" She screeched. "He went in and saved them all! He risked his life! How could you just leave him to die!?"

The Breloom that had come with the team stepped forward, putting a hand on the mother's shoulder.

"He understood the risks when he entered the Tainted water. He's a brave kid. But all of his work would be for naught if he enters the pool." She explained gently. With a wild, twisted scream the mother floatzel turned around, slamming an arm into the Breloom. The grass type flew back and within seconds all of the Pokemon were on top of her, pinning her down.

"No, no! My son, Jason! You can't do this! You can't...do..." She was soon asleep, a combination of the efforts of the Golduck and the two Brelooms. Crescendo watched on in horror, his eyes following the Sunflora who helped the weak Buizel onto the ground. He noticed how she avoided as much contact as she could.

And he was conscious.

"Mom..." Crescendo heard the small boy begging, and in a flash the Milotic was at his side. Tears leaked from his eyes, his heart aching for this boy who had risked everything to help others, for his heartbroken mother, and for all the lives destroyed by this disaster. He cried out a soothing tone, wrapping himself around the Buizel.

"No, don't do that- the Poison could get into you." The Sunflora told Cress, tugging at him, but the Milotic refused to let go. He began to glow slightly, willing healing energy inside the young water type, willing him to get better.

Incultyr helped the Breloom to her feet, and she shook her head at the scene.

"C'mon, let's end this."

The Slowking pondered this for a moment, then nodded.

"Yes, I remember, when I was still a young slowpoke. I saw only a glimpse of her. She moved like the wind -she was the wind- and she paused on the surface of the water, staring at me. She wasn't...standing on it, no. That's too...simply of a term. It was like she was floating, weightless, her paws barely disturbing the water- but she did, little ripples that resonated within my very body as I felt them against me. And in a flash, she was gone..." he murmured. "I can show you the pool where it happened. I know the path by heart, because it is etched into me deeper than the most vivid memory."

The Slowking got to his feet, climbing out of the water as he motioned for the Team to follow him. Incultyr gathered Team Polaris, though Crescendo refused to leave the young Buizel. Acer stayed by his side. So the leaders of Polaris along with Chronicler followed the Slowking. The Breloom tagged along, more than a little eager to see the Legendary.

The journey took a bit, but they encountered no other Pokemon except those who had succumbed to the poison. The Breloom stayed respectfully back, away from Morana so that she would have some relief from her irritating spores.

Of all the water they passed, it was lined with dead vegetation and dead bodies. Every once in a while they'd see an ugly little brown fish pop its head out of the water, and the Slowking explained how resistant the Feebas were to pollutants of any form, though even they were dying out.

Chronicler was noting that the water was starting to lose its clear, crystalline, bluish-green colour as they went further and further upstream. Until finally, she saw the first hint of purple.

"Is that-" she began, but the Slowking answered before she finished her question, shaking his head tiredly.

"Yes, that's the poison. Where I had seen the Suicune so many years ago...is the origin of the Taint. It gets very concentrated as we get nearer, so please be careful not to touch the water."

A portion of the forest they passed was levelled, the trees all knocked over in a tangled mess. Amidst all this chaos was a huge Gyarados, quite dead from the smell of decay on its body. The Slowking shook his head.

"He lived in the pool where the poison came from. No one who used to live there has survived that we know of."

Only minutes later they arrived at the pool. It was huge, the size of a small lake. Where the river flowed out of it was a hastily constructed dam, and both the Slowking and the Breloom stopped for a few second, bowing their heads in respect.

"The Bidoof family that lived here risked everything to dam the poison in." The Breloom explained solemnly. "They all died in the effort. They have saved countless lives though, for they have reduced the amount of the Taint to have gone downstream by an extraordinary amount."

The team could clearly see that. Just above the dam the water turns a murky purple so suddenly it was startling that the mostly-clear stream was connect to the pool. All the mud in the dam seemed to be filtering out much of the Poison. Morana shivered at the thought of how much more damage would have done if this single dam was not here.

"This is it. Try the flute." The Slowking urged them, and Chronicler nodded, carefully taking off her backpack and rummaging through it. She took out the bag they kept the Golden Flute in and drew the delicate instrument out.

"I-I'm going to play it now." Chronicler declared nervously, suddenly feeling quite weak. What if she screws up? What if it doesn't work? This had all been her idea too...what if all of this results in nothing?

She brought the flute up to her lips the moment something rammed into her.

It came in as a green and purple blur, catching everyone by surprise. They had let their guard down, had not expected any conflict here. With a cry Chronicler stumbled aside, could feel her attacker grab onto the flute, tugging at it to get away. She held onto the flute desperately, but the attacker was much stronger.

All of this happened in an instant, and her mind suddenly jumbled into an array of confusing thoughts and images. The Confusion attack washed over her, and she fought it with all her will but it was getting hard to think, so hard...

The next moment she knew she felt cold metal slip out of her hands and she splashed down under the surface of the water.

---

Morana stood at the edge of the water, barking at the Dustox as it struggled to fly over the pool with the weight of Chronicler clutching at the flute it held. The Houndour didn't know what to do; she couldn't attack or she'll hurt Chronicler as well.

They watched in horror as the Cherrim lost her grip and slipped down into the water.

"No Morana!" Incultyr cried, grabbing his partner by the collar as she attempted to jump. She yelped at the sudden resistance against her neck and she slipped, both of her front paws dipping into the purple water before Incultyr pulled her back and out.

The Dustox cackled, now hovering over the pool, teasingly holding the flute loosely with one spindly leg. The Slowking and the Breloom watched in shock, the Grass-type shaking her head in denial.

"Be careful with that! What do you want?" Incultyr demanded of the Dustox, who considered him for a moment before bursting out into laughter.

"Itty bitty Explority Teams meddling again huh? Come to ruin Lady Rasp's fun?" He asked teasingly. "Well, I'm done playing. Bye-bye kids!" The Dustox allowed the Flute to fall before rushing over the Teams faster than they could react. Fine powder settled down on them all.

"Hold your breath!" The Slowking warned, but Morana took the distraction to act.

She jumped forward into the murky water, a thin layer of clear magical water enveloping her fur, fighting off the Taint as she took a deep breath and dived down.

"Anna!" Incultyr screamed, taking a step forward, but was promptly grabbed by the Breloom who pulled him back.

"Two of you in the water is enough." She scolded, and then promptly jumped in herself.

Water hissed as it came in contact with Morana's fur, and she fought through the pain as a Fire Type encountering cold, cold water. She couldn't see at all, but this was where Chronicler had fallen, she was sure of it. She was running out of breath, but she fought to stay along the bottom of the pool, her paws frantically pawing around the muddy bottom until- there! Her paw brushed along what felt like soft velvet, and she knew it to be Chronicler's petal dress. The Houndour brought the Cherrim in, hugging the grass-Type and kicking them back up to the surface with her hind legs.

They broke the surface seconds later, both coughing and gagging and sputtering, spitting out as much of the purple water as possible. The Breloom reached them a moment later, the golden flute in one hand. She grabbed Morana by the collar and dragged the two members of Team Polaris to shore, where all three of them promptly collapsed into a coughing pile.

"Chronicler, Chronicler! Are you OK?" Morana asked, her legs shaking. Her Aqua Ring had not held- she could feel the Poison inside her body. The Cherrim did not respond, and the Breloom very quickly handed Morana the flute..

"I'll do what I can for her. Do it, summon Suicune!" She urged, and Morana nodded dully, her head pounding, her breathing raspy. Incultyr took a step towards them but the Slowking held him back, reasoning with him as the Larvitar continued to shake his head in denial. No, No, No, this couldn't be happening.

Morana clamped her mouth around the front of the flute, resisting the urge to gag as the poison that clung to its surface came in contact with her mouth. The Flute was more of a recorder than an actual flute thank gods. Taking in a deep, shaky breath she blew.

Out came a sound that was...more a feeling than a sound. It flowed like honey, slowly but gracefully. It was crystalline clear, scattering the light like diamonds. It was flying through the air, free, unbound. It called for all of them, tugged at their hearts, begging for them to answer.

Then, suddenly, it was gone. The gold of the flute slowly faded, as if the golden colour was the music, was the sound, and it escaped as Morara released it with a gentle breath of air. It was now a dull silver, its magic used up.

Then her shaky legs could hold her up no longer, and the Houndour collapsed in a heap on the ground, shaking, shivering as the Poison worked its way through her.

"No, Anna!" Incultyr broke free of the Slowking, could take this no longer. He rushed forward to the Houndour's side, hold her head against his belly, muttering reassurances to both himself and her. He was crying. He's never cried before, and the feeling of warn liquid against his skin was a surprise.

He and Morana had gone through so much together. They made this Team, created a family, saved each other's lives countless times and went through so so much. She was more than his partner now, he knew. She was family, his little sister, closer than blood.

There was a strong gust of wind that blew fiercely all around them, and almost in the blink of an eye a brilliant blue figure appeared.

Incultyr barely saw it, simply holding Morana who weakly licked his hand.

But the others did. Almost as if she had sensed the presence of the Legendary Chronicler stirred awake, her eyes opening a crack. Her vision was blurred, her mind confused, but she saw the silhouette of the Crystalline Legendary, the Purifying Rain stading just on the other side of the pool, and smiled.

"Suicune..."

The Legendary hesitated as it approached the pool, carefully putting one paw upon its surface before quickly retracting it. From the spot her paw touched the water, a circle of clear, clean water radiated outwards. Morana turned her head to see the figure on the other side of the pool, and Incultyr looked up as well, everyone's attention transfixed on the radiant legendary.

User ImageTheir eyes followed the edge of the clear water as it radiated outwards, slowing...stopping...reversing. They watched in horror as the purple taint went back and overpowered the Legendary's touch. The Suicune stared at them sadly, and began a slow, deliberate walk across the pool. With every touch ripples radiated outwards from her, circles of pure water, and she finally reached them touching the land so softly it was as if she was floating.

"I know what you have called me for, and I have tried...I have tried." She told them sadly, hanging her head. Her mane flowed behind her as if a fierce wind blew at them, but the air around them was still. The Slowking sighed sadly, shaking his head.

"It was...worth a try." He murmured.

"I am sorry that your sacrifices were for naught. There is nothing I can do." Even as she spoke the circles of pure water behind her closed back up.

"Don't say that!" Incultyr suddenly growled, holding Morana tightly against himself. "What sacrifice? That's not- It's not..." His voice cracked, filled with denial. No, no, no, Morana was fine, Chronicler was fine...

The Suicune lowered her head, pushing Incultyr aside with little effort and touching her nose to Morana's. The mucky liquid that clung to her fur slipped off into clear droplets, and then the legendary walked over to Chronicler and did the same.

"This is all I can do for them. I can take the poison off them, but what is inside remains. The poison is powerful. Perhaps the true Suicune would be able to fight it, but I am unfortunately, just an accidental spawn of the North Wind."

Semi-Legendaries. Of course. The Golden flute held a magic that resonated with those of Legendary Blood, but did little to call true Legends.

"Then what can we do? Where is the real Suicune?" The Breloom asked, shaking slightly. The poison attacked her body as well in such high concentration, and though she did her best to convert it into nutrition, into something harmless, it was too much. Even she was not immune so such a high concentration.

"I do not know." The Suicune replied softly, apologetically.

The sun above them seemed to brighten then, the light intensifying. They all turned at a sudden sound, the sound of something moving through the dead vegetation. They stared as a pure white canine revealed itself, pushing through the underbrush. Perhaps it was a trick of the light, but at her touch the plants seemed to stand taller, greener.

It was an Absol, or at least that's what they could assume. Small ears adorned her head, her large white bushy tail tipped in black. Incultyr recognized it- the mysterious Pokemon had shown up at the Guild one day when Teacher first revealed himself. She had been in and out of sight ever since, though she had been missing for quite a bit now.

The Absol whined, padding up to them and pawing at the water. She looked expectantly at the Suicune.

"I-I'm sorry, but I cannot." The Suicune told the Absol. The Absol growled, flattening her ears against her head, padded forward, and to everyone's surprise pushed the Suicune in with a loud splash. Everyone stared in shock at this action as the Absol sat at the edge of the water, waiting for the surprised, spluttering legend to get back to her feet.

"W-what?" The Water Type gasped, and the Absol turned her head towards the sky, howling. From the Suicune radiated outwards a large circle of pure water once more. The Absol continued to howl, then suddenly stopped, looking down intently at the water.

The liquid began to churn, spouts of it jumping above the surface like fish at play, each shedding its purple colour and reentering the pool, diluting the rest of the poison. The Suicune stared in awe, sitting awkwardly in the shallow water as her own touch joined the process. Before everyone's eyes the murky purple turned into clear, crystalline teal.

"You're a child of Arceus!" The Suicune cried out, suddenly seeming to recognize the Absol. At those words her gaze suddenly shifted to the Suicune. The Absol got to her feet, turned, and dashed away into the forest, leaving disbelieving gazes at her back.

"W-who...who was that?" The Breloom asked, and the Slowking considered this thoughtfully.

"I don't know...but there's more to her than we see..."

The Suicune shook her head and got to her feet, shaking the water off of her. She looked more than a little embarrassed, having gone through a scene that really did not match her graceful nature. Incultyr wiped his eyes, regaining his composure.

"Our work here is done then. I need to recollect the rest of my team, and we will go back to the Guild. We'll find something then for Anna and Chronicler. What's left in the river will hopefully disperse over time."

The Suicune straightened and got down.

"I'll get you where you need to go." She offered. With a thanks, Incultyr carefully draped Morana across her back as the Breloom and the Slowking helped Chronicler up.

All the way down she ran down the river that fed from the now purified pool, her touch removing what was left of the taint in the water.

The team's return to the guild did, of course, mean rewards. Those given to them by Pluto and those sent to them by the extremely grateful inhabitants of the forest. The Guild gave them 5000 PD; the exact amount they had spent on the Pecha Scarves. A small plastic box made it's way from one of the inhabitants of the forest. A deep, deep purple sludge was contained within. Most likely, some of the poison had spilled over the river and the water had evaporated, leaving only this. None of the team were quite sure why anyone would send that to them, but it might be useful to a poison type at least?

That wasn't the only thing to come from the forest, however. A small, unidentified egg came neatly packed away attached with a note declaring it an orphan. The one who carried it into the guild was the Breloom. "Things have calmed down some back at the forest, thanks to you." She picked up a small TM that she had kept pinched between her hand and the crate and gave it to whoever could take it. It was a Cross Poison TM.

She later asked to join the team. She wasn't the only one; at least one of the Treeko appeared (y'beat up s'damn many, after all). A Floatzel appeared as well. The mother. The team had the faint feeling that her membership may be fleeting if at all real--she seemed much more concerned with her child than the guild itself.

Rewards!
Recruit Choices: Breloom, Treeko, Floatzel
An egg of any pokemon from the Emerald Pools
Black Sludge
Cross Poison TM

Pluto && Incultyr && Suicune

"Please, you have to do something." Incultyr was practically begging. The Leafeon sighed, thinking.

"If Pecha berries and the normal cures for poison isn't working then..." Pluto paused, then nodded. "Yes, it should do it. Phione Dew, it is known to be able to cure any ailment."

"Where can I find it?" Incultyr asked, and Pluto shook his head.

"Not you. You need to get your rest. I will find another Team. Phione can be found in the Mana Reefs, an area unsuitable for one of your species. Take Dew with you back to your Team, he'll take those Poisoned with him to the hospital, and they'll keep them alive for as long as they can."
Pluto spoke rather bluntly, rather like Incultyr himself. The Larvitar reluctantly nodded as the Chimecho floated over to him in order to teleport him back to his room.

"I'll send Team Polaris its deserved awards later. You have done us a great service."

---

Back in the Team room Crown was crying over Chronicler's limp body. Crescendo had brought back with him the poisoned young Buizel and his mother, intent on helping the boy. Acer stood silently by Morana's side, who was curled up on the floor, shivering uncontrollably.

The Suicune watched it all calmly, a hint of sorrow in her eyes.

"I wish I could have helped sooner. The Emerald Pools was my home as well, but I could do nothing to protect it." The Legendary sighed.

Dew went to each of the injured Pokemon in turn, teleporting them to the Hospital where they would await some kind team's return with the cure they need.

Singel Uluat Shurinet

❖✺❖✺❖✺❖✺❖✺❖✺

The Emerald Pools, a sign of great beauty in the world surrounding the guilds. The Guild of the Morning Star was lucky to be in the possession of such a wonderful sight of nature. Problem was, the Pools no longer showed the signs of an extensive area of crystal, see through pools. Now they showed slime, pollution, and a gas that rose through the air and gave the stench of waste throughout the air.

A Charmander with coal black scales walked through the stench, a leaf wrapped around his mouth to prevent the stench from entering his mouth. Singel knew what was causing the trouble, it was a Muk. This was the work of nothing less then a Muk.

The Pools were purple with sludge, thick with toxic waste, and exhaled a thick green smoke for all those around them to breath in. They were here to stop this. Team Firewind took up the job to restore the Pools to their former glory.

Singel looked as Uluat, the cyan blue Gligar, and Shurinet, the young and dark colored Mienfoo, entered through the rainforest thickness as well. The whole team was under the impression that this area was not as bad as it was reported. Obviously, gossips were right.

The Gligar, who had been silent for almost a half hour now, after talking for nearly four hours, decided to once again start complaining about the smell. “Man this whole place smells like the pen of a really dirty Rapidash! No wonder they put a bounty up for this guy!” Uluat said while he began awkwardly walking to avoid the different piles of sludge that had built up over the dead plants on the ground.

Singel rolled his eyes at his partner. This was a guy who loved to enjoy life to the fullest and here he was complaining about a little stink. Shurinet laughed at Uluat as he began walking around the same piles Uluat was.

Shurinet turned to see Singel walking straight through the groupings of sludge on the ground. The whole area stunk to high heaven, and here was Singel, not plugging his nose and not even worrying about the poison. Sometimes he worried about his team leader, but I guess it was his drive to just prove how tough and strong he was to everyone.

The Mienfoo kneeled down as the group began resting, finding an area in the springs with a pool that was still untouched somewhat, the sludge was very watered down at the very least. Uluat looked at Shurinet and laughed as he began taking his seat near the pool. “What you doing there sport? Working on bringing the plants back?” He asked him.

Shurinet smiled under his leaf mask and shook his head. “No Uluat. I am trying to see how long the sludge has been sitting here. The longer it has been here, the more likely he has moved further into the Pools. And the further he goes into the Pools...” Shurinet began.

“The more likely a chance he has of poisoning the whole damn water supply of the Eastern Territory.” Singel finished for his teammate as he stood up from the rock he was sitting on. Shurinet looked up at Singel and nodded back to him.

“Last thing that the Guild of the Morning Star needs is a very toxic water supply. The streams and waterfalls lead to the Pools, and if all this toxic sludge goes up stream to the rest of the water supply they are going to have a hard time lasting.” Shurinet said as Uluat stood up stretching and Singel began fixing his mask while nodding to Shurinet.

The group began walking further into the Pools and this time the stench was getting worse. Now it was thick, you could taste it on your tongue. Luckily the air wasn't too toxic otherwise the group would be out cold like a light.

Singel walked through the cloud of gas, trying to keep his head and eyes from getting heavy. The air was in no way a pleasant thing to behold, but neither were the sights around him. The plants were all dead, either black or a disgusting brown. Each seemed coated in layers upon layers of disgusting sludge.

Single shook his head, very upset that this was what some Pokemon actually wanted to do with the world around them. He was going to comment on it until he noticed some movement.

The Charmander quickly got nervous and began looking around him, checking for any signs of the Muk around his team. Sadly he got nothing but the wind blowing by the area and the leaves that were dead slamming into the tree trunks near where they fell. Singel was uneasy, nothing seemed right here.

When he though about the sight he saw, it seemed too small to fit the description of a Muk, but seemed a little smaller. He quickly turned and saw the same silhouette and growled in frustration. Shurinet noticed and quickly came over to Singel. “What is it Singel? Is something wrong?” He asked as he looked in the direction where Singel was looking.

The Charmander shook his head and suddenly heard Uluat scream behind him. “Wow! What was that!?” The two quickly ran to the Gligar and saw him pointing to the trees surrounding the Pools. “I swear I saw something moving out there man! It looked like it was.....leaking almost.” He screamed out with wide eyes.

Singel nodded and looked to Shurinet. “That's gotta be our guy. So now that we know he is here, what I want to know is what makes him so darn fast.” He said with a confused looked as he began thinking possible explanations. Singel looked out towards the trees and began noticing something odd.....There were more then one things moving out there this time!

Singel leaned to Shurinet, not breaking eye contact with the trees in the distance. “Hey Shurinet, do you by chance know if a Muk can just produce Grimers? Asexually that is?” He asked as he saw another quick moving object just blow past the tree line.

The Mienfoo looked at Singel with a surprised look and began thinking very hard. Eventually he came to a conclusion. “I suppose its not completely out of the question for that to happen. Since Muk is completely made of sludge, and a Grimer not only reproduces by dropping off pieces of itself as it walks, but it also really evolves into a Muk when it gains a greater overall mass! So I suppose a Muk could drop some of itself off to produce Grimers. Why do you ask?” He asked Singel as the idea in itself was a very interesting to think about.

Singel just nodded and let out a sigh. “The only reason I ask, is because I think we have a lot more to deal with then just a Muk. I suggest we split up and focus on different areas of the Pools. I'll go further on ahead and check the waterfall area. You guys look towards the forest ridge area. If there are Grimers, we need to get rid of them, less they begin multiplying like some kind of Muk colony.” He said with a determined look.

Uluat seemed focused as well and nodded back at Singel. The Gligar knew what kind of situation he was going to get put in for this. Then again, he liked a little excitement.

Shurinet looked as the two elder members of the troupe seemed extremely focused, while he was nervous thinking about going on his own. He made sure not to show it though. This was a chance to show his worth to the two of them and he wanted to do them proud. “Well lets get started then. Good luck youngster! Give that Muk a good old breath of flame for me will ya Singe!” Uluat yelled out as he quickly flew towards the direction of the Grimers he may have seen out near the denser part of the forest.

Shurinet quickly nodded to the two of them and jumped up onto a branch and quickly began navigating his way to the other part of the forest. That left Singel to check the water fall area. He wasn't sure what he was going to see, but one thing was for sure, he was glad he still had those two Tms that they got a while back. No telling what a good his fire may be to this type of Pokemon. Once he reached the waterfall he looked around the area and was shocked to see the place completely.....clean. Not even one sludge mark around. He brought his mask down and looked around, wondering how the others were doing.

Uluat was flying smoothly through the trees and had a determined look on his face. The forest was full of sludge in this area, and that made Uluat sick. He remembered the forest he grew up in was bright, green, and sunny. This place was dark, purple with fresh sludge, and what sun did beat into the area only showed more of the nasty horrors the forest had to show.

The Gligar then began thinking about the upcoming battle he could have with either the Muk or his little Grimer buddies. Since Gligar was a poison type himself, none of his attacks wouldn't do a whole lot to them, being the same type and all. While thinking of how to handle the situation, a lot more poison gas seemed to build up.

Uluat was about to lift his altitude when a sudden Mud Bomb hit him in the right wing. The cyan Pokemon yelled out as he quickly landed on the ground and rolled. He slowly picked himself up and looked up from where he had fallen. Three Grimers surrounded the young Gligar and each seemed ready to defend their territory. Uluat laughed and stood up, brushing off his wing. “Alrighty then, who will be the first to start off the dance?”

Shurinet had been hiding in the trees for a while now, waiting for some sign of the Grimers and the Muk. His ability to hide was definitely helping him right now, waiting for a good time to strike. However, the gas build up was becoming way too strong for him and he had to step down from the tree.

Shurinet pulled the mask down to beneath his chin. As he caught his breath, he raised and eyebrow, wondering something. Why was the gas build up so bad up high, but almost absent on the ground. He quickly looked up and saw two Grimers looking at him from the top of the tree. The Mienfoo quickly rolled away as the two dropped from the tree and stared at the young Pokemon with nasty, sludge filled grins. Shurinet threw up his fighting stance and began watching the two, hoping to find some kind of opening.

Singel sat near the waterfall, waiting to see if the Muk was going to show itself to him. He wasn't expecting it to do that, this one seemed a little too smart to just pop up like that. It was going to use only what it had, the element of surprise. Why waste the ability to disappear into the ground like water after the rain? Singel pulled his mask down and began walking around the waterfall, expecting some kind of appearance to occur.

The young Charmander looked for any signs of the sludge Pokemon. Some kind of dead plant. Murkiness in the water of the ponds. Even some kind of gas that would show that the place had a Muk in it. Somehow though, there wasn't a single sign of one.

Singel began getting frustrated and eventually yelled out, pouring out his agitation. “Where are you Muk?! It's time for you come on out and fight!” Singel yelled with frustration in his voice. Singel was surprised to get a response to his cry almost immediately.

The sloshing sound of sludge was heard behind the Charmander, and the young Pokemon turned to see.....nothing. Nothing at all, but he did hear something. An echoing, booming voice, with the effect of spit and waste spewing from it whenever it spoke. “So the Guilds finally have sent a team out to deal with me huh? Sad to see it isn't any of those pathetic Eeveelutions from the Guild of the Sun. Those would have been fun to crush.” The voice bellowed as Singel began picking up all the directions the echo was coming from. Needless to say this wasn't going to be easy.

“Show yourself Muk! We just want to talk and discuss you immediately leaving the Emerald Pools so we may clean them. You decide how this goes through.” Singel shouted with a smirk as he moved his mask back up to his mouth.

A laugh shook the water and trees as it went and traveled to Singel's ear. “You want to talk? Is that so?” The voice echoed back. “And what exactly are my options young one? There is talking, and then what?”

Singel was starting to get very frustrated with the polluter. His teeth were bared under his leaf mask as he turned to where he heard the voice this time. “Well I am sure that the guild would like me to bring you back to try you for your crimes....” And with a quick movement Singel was staring at a large Muk, doing what you could consider standing for a Pokemon with no feet, over the captain of Team Firewind.

This one had to be at least four feet tall, give or take a few inches, and seemed a lot wider then your average Muk. It would explain the Grimers Singel saw earlier.

The large purple beast looked up at the trees above them and laughed to himself. “I bet they would, those lazy scared foxes!” Muk yelled as he turned his head back down to the young Charmander.

The Muk smiled as he let his breath seep into the air from his mouth. Singel waved the gas off with his hand and stared at the Muk with an annoyed face. “...But I would much rather just make you into a very thick ash pile and call it a day.” The Singel said as he stepped up to the beast with a smile under his mask. “So why don't we ask you though. It's your call in the end. What do you have in mind?”

The large sludge pile ran a finger on what appeared to be its chin. Singel laughed at the thought of a Muk actually thinking about anything, these Pokemon were not considered very smart after all. “Hmm.......do let's!”

The Muk shouted at Singel and quickly slapped the Charmander away, knocking him against a tree nearby. The laugh of the Muk was heard as the ringing in Singel's ears continued from the sudden impact against the tree. The young Pokemon looked up to see the Muk slowly crawling towards him.

“Hope the others are doing better then me.” Singel begged to himself as he went and picked himself up, charging at the Muk with his fist cocked back.

Shurinet blocked another Mud Shot from one of the two Grimers. These two were smart, smarter then the Mienfoo expected. They surrounded him quickly and very early in the fight, and tried to suffocate him with the gas they were spewing out.

Shurinet's mask prevented that from really affecting him, but the rest of the fight was very strenuous. The Mud Shots had already hit him in his gut and his back. But now that he was seeing the way these guys were fighting, he finally had their pattern down. Shurinet then saw his opportunity to strike.

He quickly charged at one of the Grimers and jumped over it. The Grimer tried to turn and get Shurinet with a Mud Slap, but the Mienfoo's great speed let him get the first strike on the Pokemon.

Shurinet quickly used a Force Palm directly on the Grimer's nose, right between the eyes. The impact of the hit made the poison type's eyes roll back in its head and collapsed into a puddle of sludge. The other Grimer stared wide-eyed at the Mienfoo, and Shurinet stared directly at the Grimer, battle pose still set.

The other Grimers who were fighting Uluat, they had just witnessed one of their fellow Grimers get sliced up badly from the Gligar's quick Aerial Ace attacks. Of the three that started off the fight, only two were left, and one was in bad condition after a series of Fury Cutters from Uluat. The Grimers just couldn't catch up to Uluat's speed through the air, and the precision he used each of his attacks was beyond measure. Uluat laughed as he stared at the Grimers in total fear.

The Gligar kept flying around them in circles and tried to find another opening to expose in his next attack. Though consumed in their fear, they weren't completely focused on defending themselves. More concerned in running off. Uluat wasn't going to let that happen.

Uluat quickly swooped down and struck the Grimers with Quick Attack after Quick Attack, all the while trying to escape the wrath of the cyan Gligar. Eventually though, both Grimers fell into a puddle, finally rendered unconscious from the constant blows they had received in the fight.

Once Uluat landed, he decided to admire his work. “Heh heh heh! Not too bad if I do say so Uluat. Not too bad.” He said as he began dancing around in success of his most recent victory.

Singel was still in a struggle against the Muk, trying to find some kind of way to battle the beast. Every time he tried to get some kind of edge, the Muk just threw him away. Even his fire wasn't doing a whole lot of good. The damn thing was not even showing signs of fatigue.

The disgusting monster laughed, spitting the sludge from its mouth around the area. “You can't be really trying!” He screamed in anger after his fit of laughing. The change in his emotion made Singel look up in fear, though he didn't want to admit it. “Is this really what the Guilds allow into their ranks now? How pathetic is this?!” The Muk screamed as he grabbed Singel's neck with his huge hands.

The Charmander felt the air leave his chest and get stuck in his mouth, the smell from the beast collecting in his nose. Muk laughed at the young Pokemon's struggle to escape his grasp. Now there was little keeping Singel from being the next snack on this sludge ball's menu.

“Now, let me ask you something. Do you know about the Muk and its poison touch?” Muk said with a laugh as it gripped the throat of Team Firewind's captain tighter then before. Now Singel was struggling to breath and the Muk seemed to be just toying with him.

Singel looked directly into the monster's eyes, and shook his head. The Muk brought him closer to his face. The two now met, eyes separated by no more then an inch or two. The stench was making Singel's eyes tear up. “We only release our poison when we so choose to.” Muk chuckled as he pushed him up against the tree.

Singel was beginning to worry now. No telling how long it was going to take for this poison to kill him. Inside of him, the fear in his heart was winning. He was afraid of death beyond anything in his dreams. His team still hadn't shown up from their sides of the forests.

Muk saw the fear in the young Pokemon's eyes and grew curious. “This is your first mission isn't it little one? Your first attempt to make the world around you a better place?” He asked as Singel nodded, while growling through his shrunken windpipe.

Laughter once again bellowed from the Muk's mouth, sludge landing on the Charmander's face. “Well this is interesting. Not only do I get to eat a young, rookie Guild of the Sun member, but I can also extinguish yet another one of your kind.” He bellowed with laughter again, this one full of cruelty and evil.

Singel's vision was blurry, his heart pounding, and now shaking furiously. At any point now it was evident that he wasn't going to be conscious for very long. He would blank out now, and wake up as a skeleton melted down from the Muk's sludge. Not exactly the way he was planning on leaving the world.

Suddenly the air was pounded with a loud scream of pain. To Singel's surprise however, it wasn't his! He felt air flowing through his throat again and it felt good. He looked up to see the Muk clutching his face. Small stars were beating down on him, and Singel knew what it was from.

Shurinet was blasting the Muk down with his Swift attack and Uluat quickly dove in and picked Singel up of the ground. “Come on Singe! Let's get you outta here.” The Gligar told his partner.

Singel quickly waved off his partner and shook his head. “No Uluat! We can't run away now, otherwise this thing will just poison what is left of the Emerald Pools!” He yelled as he looked to Shurinet.

The young Mienfoo had a courageous look in his eye, shooting the stars right at the giant Muk. Singel was proud of the young one, and realized something he had spaced out from before.

He quickly grabbed one of the two Tms in his possession, the one bearing the Froslass ability. Singel smiled as he gripped the disc tightly, a bright blue light surrounding himself. Uluat watched as Singel absorbed the power of the disc and smiled. Shurinet quickly stopped his Swift attack as he stared at Singel, beholding the sight of his leader gaining power from an outside source.

Singel grinned as he stared up at the Muk with new found confidence. The large purple blob stared at the small Pokemon with a confused look. “And what are you all smiling about. Now I get to eat you and your friends!” He yelled with utter madness.

“Oh I don't think so big guy!” Singel said as he felt a cold feeling shiver up his throat. Muk quickly threw his hand at the Charmander, Uluat quickly jumping out of the way. Singel, who had his eyes closed, now opened his eyes with fire in them. He opened his mouth quickly and released his new attack, Icy Wind!

The Muk felt the cold feeling hit his hand and stared at the Pokemon with wide eyes. He pulled the numb arm away and saw that his whole arm had been encased in a thick layer of ice. The Muk stared at his arm for a long time, shocked at the unbelievable strength the young Pokemon showed with this.

Uluat smiled and looked to Shurinet, who was already running at the Muk. He quickly jumped in the air and hit the ice with a Jump Kick, shattering the ice into multiple pieces. As the Muk yelled out in pain, Shurinet landed next to his partners and nodded to them, happy to be of assistance.

“What did you do to my arm?!?!” The giant Muk screamed out in pure pain. He couldn't believe the feeling he was having right now. Three young Pokemon were destroying him bit by bit and he couldn't stand it. All he saw from the tree were confident grins and smoke blowing out of the young Charmander's nose.

Singel stepped up to the Muk and gave him a shrug. “Oh, just what I'm about to do to your whole body, ugly.” The coal black Pokemon said as he breathed more Icy Wind on the Muk, its yells echoing one last time before it had been fully encased in ice.

Team Firewind stared at the large ice sculpture before them. Uluat and Shurinet gave one another a high five while Singel nodded and blew a smoke screen from his nose. He was more then pleased with his team's overall performance. They got rid of the Muk, all his little Grimers, and they had prevented any further pollution to the Emerald Pools.

While the other two celebrated, Singel turned and snapped his fingers. “Hey there guys, we have one last thing to take care of.” He said as the two of them stopped jumping and talking to one another. “That is, carrying the big old block of ice back to the guild exchange and have him tried for his crime.” He said with amusement, hearing the disappointed moans of his team.

“Oh man, really? All the way back there?” Uluat asked with an annoyed voice. “There is no way of getting that big old chuck of a snow cone back in one piece!” He yelled with hope that Singel would agree.

Shurinet nodded at Uluat's idea. “Yeah, no way we can get this thing up there like this! Our hands would freeze and we wouldn't be able to get a grip on it.” The little Mienfoo said with a hopeful look in his eyes. Both him and Uluat leaned into Singel with a sad look, praying he had a change of heart.

Singel stared at his partners with a sad look. So this was his crew was it? A bunch of really lazy and pathetic rag tag Pokemon not willing to do any work to fix a problem. Then he shrugged with a smile on his face. “I never said anything about you carrying it.” He told them as he saw a strange and quizzical look in his partners. “You guys can push him too if you'd like.”

With that sentence, he heard a huge complaining moan from both of his friends and before they could continue to complain he let out a small breath of Ember from his mouth, singeing Uluat's claw and nearly setting Shurinet's fur on fire. The two just lowered their heads and began pushing the Muk ice sculpture out of the Pools.

Singel smiled as he began following his teammates when he heard the ripple of water behind him. He wasn't sure, but it didn't sound like water fell into one of the pools, but rather something else did. Singe turned and saw nothing in the pools, but a light seemed to be coming from the top of the water fall.

The light was bright and blue. The aura it presented was very powerful. Much more powerful then anything Singel had seen with his own eyes. He slowly lifted his head to see the sight before him. A Pokemon glowing a bright blue with fur waving in the air.

The legendary Suicune. It was staring down on the young Charmander with a smile on her face. “You did well young one. I feared that the monster was going to pollute this entire area.” The legendary said with an almost royal voice.

Singel could barely believe his eyes. Here was one of the legendary Pokemon that he had only heard of in legends and stories, told by generations who had seen their true selves. Now that he had seen the truth, and it was more marvelous then he could have imagined.

“We did what we could. We just hope it isn't too much damage to this place.” Singel said stepping towards the waterfall.

Suicune nodded to Singel and smiled. “Do not fret so much. I have faced greater pollution then this before. I will have this place cleansed by morning.” She said as she stepped down off the water fall. Her steps shined greater then herself, as every drop of water she touched turned brilliantly clear and bright. “I am glad to see justice was done here today.”

Singel bowed to the legendary and smiled. “Happy to be the one to supply the justice ma'am.” He told her as he began turning away. “As long as there is justice that needs to be done, we will do our best.” Singel said as he walked away towards his team.

The light quickly disappeared behind Singel. He turned to see nothing, not even evidence other then the water's glow of Suicune's presence. He smiled at the area and let out a laugh. He felt both pride and some sense of accomplishment from seeing a legendary of Suicune's stature. This was certainly a very productive day.

“Hey Singe! You mind helping us push your catch!” Uluat yelled from a ways away. The Charmander turned to see Shurinet and the Gligar already half way out of the Pools and waiting for Singel to help out in the delivering of the Muk.

Singel laughed and began running to his team. “Yeah I am coming guys! Just catching one last look at the place.” He yelled to them. Once back with the team he began pushing the block of ice.

Shurinet looked to Singel and began saying something between grunts while pushing. “Singel, I don't know if I should mention this right now, but....” The Mienfoo said while leaning against the frozen Muk. “..I think our catch is starting to melt.” He said to Singel as the whole group saw water running off the top of the block.

Singel quickly began breathing more Icy Wind on the Muk, now pushing much faster. “Come on guys, only a few days travel on foot back to the Guild Exchange from here with this cargo.” He said as the whole group began joining him in pushing harder. “Let's not keep our friend waiting in this thing.” The Charmander said with a laugh from the whole team.
