It’s not easy being green. That’s what a frog once told Anya on the vision screen; as she walked through town, she knew it to be true. The normals walking around her always stared. Some even covered their faces at the faint stench of her rot. She stared at her feet as she walked, and even though the light bright sun above her shone happily, her mood matched the sad gray cloud monsters. Why couldn’t they be rolling above, bumping into one another until they covered the sun like a blanket trying to smother out the light? They seemed to have abandoned her today, as the sun seemed to be mocking her. Hmph.
As Anya walked, she realized she was being followed. A sleek black kitty cat had been trailing her for a few blocks now, keeping a few cement squares behind. Anya had eyed it over her shoulder every now and then, trying to pay no attention to it. She was no mouse, after all. Maybe it knew she was sad and wanted to be friends! Stopping, she turned around to greet it. She never really met a kitty cat, but if it wanted to cheer her up she would be more than glad to accept. As she bent down to its level, the cat came up to her. She noticed a calico friend has joined it. Aww, cats are so nice. She smiled as she reached her hand out to it. The black’s yellow eyes eyed it curiously, and accepted it with a lick. The other came up too and joined it. Anya decided she was going to bring them home.
Until, they started biting her hand. Anya’s glowing eyes grew wide; she tried to shake them off of her hand but they held on with a furious grip.
They were trying to eat her!
She shook more violently and they fell off from the force. By now a few more cats had join them, seeing the opportunity of a free lunch. Anya quickly got up, confused and scared. Someone must have put a spell on her and changed her into a mouse! She ran right through the group, her bandages flapping behind her. They continued to follow her, more and more joining the crowd. There seemed to be no escape until she realized that she could fly! Flapping her wings, she flew on top of a light post, watching the cats gather at the bottom.
