Kusari walked up the hill towards the abandoned shack, now that he had tapped out all of his resources within the squad it was time to outsource, and who better to turn to than his the captain of fifth squad to learn kido. After all he was a friend of Captain Katsurou and that most certainly meant the man was to be even more respected in Kusari's eyes. "If I can't outrank Kaisho, I'll just have to get better than him. If anything I'm sure squad one would be more than happy to take me in." The rest of his rant was dismissed into mumbling as he remembered that Catain Shiboo may be around. Kusari's mumble faded into silence as the argument began to continue inside his head while his body naturally slammed into the wall of the shack and slid down into a seated position before reaching for his sake bottle and holding it to his mouth.

The bitter liquid of Kusari's own creation poured steadily from the ornate, flower covered, bottle and into Kusari's mouth as his throat kept jolting out with each gulp. After about four mouthfuls Kusari lowered the bottle and shook it. Almost empty for the day, he would need to make more.

At the sound of the Captains voice Kusari shot up, but listening to his words he relaxed slightly. "Forgive me for making you travel so far Captain, though I must admit that the view of the Rukongai from here is nice." Soon thereafter Kusari gave the real reason he had first taken an interest in kido. "I never understood why Bull-taicho had that opinion either, because Squad Seven's cornerstone of teaching has always been that while most squads are nothing without their swords, we stand strong. I find that combining kido into martial arts makes it more of my own style and thereby less predictable. If that makes any sense Captain Shiboo." He then answered the final question with a single word, "Sokatsu." But realized that it may come off in the wrong way he added, "If you do not mind Captain Shiboo."

Kusari repeated softly after the captain. "Ye lord ... Mask of flesh and bone ... Flutter of wings. Name of man. Truth. Temperance. Sinless wall of dreams. Slightly wrath claw." Then nodded as he watched the captain launch the kido, then stepped up besdie him and held his right hand out, securing it steady with his left hand and repeating the incantation. "Ye Lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, Ye who bears the name of man! Truth and Temperance. Upon this wall of dreams unleash, but slightly wrath of your claws. Hado number thirty-three, Sokatsu!" The flames shot out in all directions for a moment, leading Kusari to believe that he had failed for a moment, but in a second they combined and launched forward, blazing through the grass to the target, although it seemed to veer a bit more left than he had intended, Kusari still managed to cover ninety percent of the intended target. Kusaris had not been as big as the captains, and when the fire died down the target remained solid, but blacked in every spot it had hit, but as the wind blew through the hill the blacked parts scattered, leaving only a single plank.

Kusari smiled back at the Captain and asked, "Ōkasen next? Then to Bakudo."

"Very well as you wish."

Yamoto held out his right hand and pointed towards nowhere in particular. "It is a basic hado spell when it comes to reiatsu manipulation, but it effective." Yamoto breathed in as he paused for a moment. "Hado 32. Yellow Fire Flash" Suddenly a large wide beam of yellow energy erupted from Yamoto hand. The energy spread out of a slight distance making this kido more effective on multiple targets that anything else. "Build up reiatsu in you hand like always, but at the last moment allow it to spread out like some of the more higher level kidos. Understood."

Kusari nodded, ducking and spinning out of the Captains loose grip before attempting to mimic. Riatsu control would be key for this one. Kusari closed his eyes to focus, the riatsu began to pulse out of his chest like a trickle of water, flowing to his shoulders, then his neck, then his thighs, before stretching around and joining at his back. Then the riatsu flow expanded down his limbs and completely coated him. Kusari waited a moment to let it grow a bit thicker then said, "Bakudo number twenty six. Kyokko." Kusari looked around. Honestly he didn't even know if the kido had worked, everything still looked the same, but he could still feel the film of riatsu around him.

Kusari took a few steps forward , then reached his hand through the film, causing it to disintegrate away as he became visible once more. Kusari felt as if he had just walked out of a dream, and still in the gaze of starlight, he looked to the Captain beside him and quickly exited it. His face became serious once again as he said, "Shitotsu Sansen, then Tsuriboshi." After that he would take his leave and return to his squad and hopefully be able to teach them a thing or two about kido.
