After being a bit bored and unmotivated to make adeck I borrowed my freinds old Duelmasters video game for gba for a different change. after playing it again after so many years and nearly forrgetting it even existed I began to wonder why it never cuaght on. The rules and game play were easy enough to understand and the gameplay itself semed well designed. The cards in it werent to overpowered since all cards had to pay a cost of mana to use. I then began to rember that this card game also came out in the states when Yugioh was gaining alot of momentum from a younger audence and buying cards becuase of it. Duel masters also had an anime as well but it was more so of acomedic nature towards card game animes. In my opinon the comedic anime may have hurt it in salses since whoevr watched it thought the card game would be*stupid or cheesy* as wel las the yugioh anime over shadowing it in stores.

what other cards games do you believe were good enough to survive but died out becuase of other card games or anything else?

the Gundam War card game (not the ms war which was only based on wing, but the one based on all the gundam series)

The game played like a mix of magic and yugioh. Used a mill system to determine life count.
(aka land like resource system but you did not tap, it was just there. You could only play 1 mecha, 1 character, 1 global enchantment and 1 land per turn)

had like 6 different color types to spread up the different series and tactics.

It died not from lack of sales, but from bandai's stupid storage methods. Basically bandai expected the product to move at an unreasonable rate, while holding the product in overpriced warehouses. In the end, they shifted focus to the one piece card game.

Naruto TCG died fast in my area once was popular but dying since the ridiculous banlist, erratas, and you had to be a big spender to win 1st almost like yugioh. In naruto you'd have a monthly banlist, errata cards they wouldn't reprint unlike yugioh, and all the packs are rigged got people advantages to make all the other noobies get s**t.

Chaotic was short-lived, but i played and it wasn't horrible, a bit confusing but somewhat fun

Oh and heroscape, somewhat a card game, easy and fun, but died because the games took forever to finish
