It was a bone chilling night. Nothing was out, except the night walkers, such as Kerberos. His thick fur kept him warmer than most day walkers that had lighter coats. He looked around as a crimson liquid dripped from his fangs. Obviously, he had succumbed to his kalona blood and attacked an innocent deer. His front hooves were covered in blood as well from where he dug into the corpse.

His glowing red eyes glanced back and forth as he stayed in one general area. There was something curled up in the cave he had found earlier that day. A little creature that looked only slightly like the large, deadly stallion.

As he stepped forward, he noticed the silence that surrounded him. It seemed he was the only soul out in this area on the dark night. The only thing keeping things easily visible was the full moon and the bright stars that seemed to match the dark stallion. His unicorn tail lashed back and forth as he eyed the cave then began to walk in a random direction. The filly would be fine without him for a moment.

It was a fairly calm night, not many clouds in the sky as Nokomis flew over a wooded area. She had been in deep thought about her past as she gazed at the moon. She missed her home land but had become fond of her new home.

She circled around and landed in the woods by a small stream for a drink before she continued her wandering on hoof to stretch her legs. As she walked she heard no unusual sounds, it was quiet as a light breeze blew the trees. She wondered about not knowing exactly where she was going.

She eventually started to see a small mountain through a break in the trees, she was walking along the side of it almost. As she walked she saw what looked to be another soquili. They were dark as the night and seemed to reflect the night sky. She guessed it was male since it seemed larger then her, but she couldn't be for sure. Regardless she continued walking till she noticed what was left of a young deer and then bloody hoof prints leading towards the other soquili. She wasn't frightened, but almost intrigued. She had heard of the more carnivorous soquili and knew they were to be avoided, but she wasn't afraid...possibly her downfall.

She stopped and debated on what she should do, she looked back to the deer carcass and then to the bloody hoof prints and the soquili that left them. She didn't feel threatened so she continued her course with graceful steps. A stronger wind then blew causing the bells in her hair to ring. She knew this for sure would get the stallion's attention, but she continued to walk until a time she crossed his full path.

Kerberos' attention was easily grabbed when the obnoxious sound emitted through the quiet air from the mare's bell. His glowing red eyes snapped over to the mare of mixed blood. He snarled and looked her over once, noticing what breeds she was, none of which were kalona. A lucky mare, indeed. He puffed a quick breath of air towards her before speaking. "Can I help you?" The stallion said in an almost sarcastic voice as he stared at her for a moment. Nothing about her intrigued him just yet. She was unworthy of his time or attention. Mares...

She seemed so pure of blood, unlike himself. While he frowned, she smiled. As he held his wings down, she seemed to extend hers. While he was large (like that of a kalona), she was on the smaller side. He was dark in color and personality while she was on the lighter side of life. They were opposites it seemed and he didn't like any bit of it. If she were anything like him, she would already be dead, but he wasn't some vicious beast that killed everything in his path. No, he was more civilized, unlike his insane mother.

As they stood there, the stallion listened closely to the sounds that surrounded the two soquili. The leaves chattered as they watched the show and a few night walkers stepped in the shadows. Crickets chirped loudly and he could hear the shuffling of the foal as she slept in the cave. A hunter always knew his surroundings, he always knew if someone was hunting him. It wasn't easy being a night walker, there was always something looking at you as their next meal.

Nokomis observed the male, he had a tail like that of a uni, but different horns and then unique wings like her. She gave a smile as she caught the sarcasm in his voice. Still not saying anything she stepped closer, her hooves falling silent on the ground beneath her.

Her ears twitched to the sounds of the night. She glanced at the moon before looking back to the stallion. "Im guided by the moon, nothing more, nothing less. I walk no certain path, I have no destination in mind. I've not asked, nor do I seek assistance. Can I be of assistance to you?", she said with a slight bit of sarcasm with her last words.

She continued to walk until she was barely a head's length ahead of him. She then turned to look back at the path behind her, and her eyes were directed to a cave. She got the vibe of something he cared for lay there, but said nothing of it, she knew if was not her business. She looked back the stallion and studied the stallion closer. He looked mean, but she could tell he wasn't not entirely. He was quite handsome she seemed drawn to him for his likeness to the night sky that cradled the moon she loved.

When the mare grew too close for comfort, he let out a low, yet loud growl that rumbled deep in his chest. His glowing eyes grew brighter as he stamped a hoof as the mare's warning to stop where she was. When her legs stopped at a relatively close distance, he eyed her closely. The calmest and sweetest appearing mares could easily turn into a cold and vicious beast, this he learned from a mare that aided ever so slightly in raising him.

Noting the sarcasm in her voice, he lifted a brow. So she had a little spunk in her after all. She wasn't as sweet as she first appeared. He smirked slightly, it was more of a dark grin than a smirk. "Why would I need assistance from a weak female... unless you wanted to give me your blood." The large stallion, who easily towered over the mare, looked down at her as if it were a real proposal that she easily give him her blood.

When he noticed the mare turn and face the cave he occupied, he tilted his head. He had looked back there too many times. If the mare dared go near the cave, she would be dead in an instant. No one would be allowed near the little filly, unless she approached them. As she looked back at him, he raised his head slightly and looked down at her. "If you are not in need of assistance, then why are you bothering me?"

She paid no mind to the stallion's growl, but did take note in his glowing vibrant red eyes. She saw the blood thirst they swirled deep within them. She looked directly in them as she spoke showing she did not fear him. "I don't think you'd find my blood to your liking.", she gave him a slight smirk as well, she'd met more violent and deadly males.

She glanced to the moon and closed her eyes and listened to the wind whisper in her ears, lightly moving her bells, but not enough to make them chime. She glanced to the cave for a split second then back to him. "Im simply walking, coincidentally passing you. How does that deem me to be the one bothering you? You are the one who spoke to me first, had you not I would've been well on my way, yet here we are.", she held no particular expression on her face, but her eyes held something....she was curious about this male, why she didn't know yet.

Kerberos noted how fearless the mare was. Of course, he knew he wasn't the scariest thing on the earth, but something inside of him wanted to be. Something deep down bothered him and told him that he needed to be stronger and more fearful than any other kalona that walked the earth. He assumed it was his kalona blood boiling in his veins. Kerberos licked his fangs and shook his head. "I'm sure your blood isn't too dirty... in fact, it looks fairly pure." He noted her smirk, but did not think about it any longer.

With a shrug, the large stallion took a step to the side and looked into the mare's eyes. "Then leave." He snapped suddenly, he obviously would rather be alone than in the company of any mare. At least, he thought to himself, she wasn't a kalona. His eyes looked to hers as he let his upper lip curl over his fangs in a snarl.

Nokomis watched him and quirked an eyebrow. He seemed to resist something inside him. Kalona, that was what that one breed was called, he seemed part Kalona, but still paid no mind. "My blood may not be as pure as you think. Im unsure how pure I am, no one can be completely pure...No, not entirely no matter the breed.", she spoke with solemn eyes and an almost saddened heart. She spoke true, she had leaned of her Uni blood, but could not be sure on the rest, not entirely. At a younger age it bothered her, but the moon guided her, she listened to her call and none other.

She glanced to the moon again and then shook her head to rid the past thoughts away. She was done with her sad days, she would not let them capture her again. She looked back to the stallion a small smile adorning her face again. "Very well, I shall burden you with my presence no longer. Have a pleasant evening and take good care of the little one who has caught your caring heart, that lies in the cave in dream land.", her words were soft, caring and sincere. She turned to continue walking her path guided by the moon and whispers it sent to her on winds.

A yawn issues from a small mouth as the foal that lay within the cave began to rouse. Her dreams had been tender and sweet, filled with the comforting noise of the forest at night. As she opened her eyes, she stared outward from the cave in which she only vaguely remembered collapsing in. The moon seemed to turn the world, every small thing, a dim shade of silver and black. And it was rather frightening to see when just awakening.

After a moment, she stood, and stretched her neck, her little tail flicking about, and her wings flapping up a small cloud of dust. Her movements were quiet as she stepped out from the safe little confines of the cave. She stared for a brief second at a shining figure who passed not far off, and her "father" stood near the figure.

The foal, Aurora, tilted her head in confusion. Her Daaa, with a girl? "Daaa?" The small voice called out, yawns issuing in a small tide from her mouth.

Just as Kerberos reached out his neck to snap at the mare's hide, he heard the soft sounds that the filly made and pulled his head away from her to turn towards the black and rainbow foal. His black ears pinned against his skull as she seemed to give him a confused look. She had better not think something was going on with him and this obnoxious mare.

He growled at the mare as she slowly began to leave with those words. No! He did not have a caring heart! The foal just wouldn't leave him be... Why would no one understand that? His ears flicked towards the mare then towards the filly. "What Auroroa?" He said in a tad bit harsher tone than he planned on using. The filly probably wouldn't notice it, however.

Nokomis's ear twitched as she too heard the young one stir. She saw that this male cared for the little one, weather he cared to acknowledge it or not. She smiled at the foal a small distance away, she was beautiful. ~A rainbow of light in the darkest of places, how fitting~ she thought and giggled to herself, and the little one had a fitting name."'Aurora' beautiful.", she whispered to herself even though she knew at least the male heard her.

Nokomis stayed were she was, watching from the little one to the male. Even though ironic, she couldn't imagine a more suited pair. She smiled, unable to stop herself.

Aurora blinked, and felt a smile crawl across her snout. "Daaa's got a girlfriend!" She squeaked, kicking her hind-legs. She knew it would get on his nerves, but she couldn't help it. She ran toward the pretty mare, not able to help herself, and the giddy, goofy energy that spread throughout her. She stopped in front of the mare, wings flapping rather uselessly. She had not been long out of the basket, and had yet to learn how to fly. So she ran! A lot.

When she was happily still in front of the mare, she smiled in greeting, "Hello, madam!" She said, her voice high and tinkly like a bell. Though not well trained in any sort of manner, she was still as friendly as they came.

Nokomis giggled as the bright little one bound towards her. She had to be the cutest thing she'd ever seen. In turn Nokomis fluttered her wings slightly, she remembered what it was like being young and not used to her wings. She was rather clumsy in those days.

At the young one's greeting she smiled warmly and leaned her head down and nuzzled the little one's cheek, her bells lightly chiming as she did. "Greetings little one, you should be sleeping it's still very late you know. I hope it was not because of me you awoke from your sweet dreams.", she said still smiling down at the young one.

She looked the male sure he would be giving her a deathly stare for talking to the little one. She gave a smile to him as well and questioned him being her father. "So you've taken the little one under your wing, adopted her if you will. You have compassion in you whether you choose to admit it or not, it's there. I can see it...in her.", she spoke with gentleness and a soothing voice. She glanced back down to the little one, still smiling. She seemed to give off such an inner warmth, it would be hard for one not to smile, even if it was not shown on the outside by some.

Ker's ears flattened against his skull at the sound of Aurora saying he had a girlfriend. Oh this mare was anything but that... He watched as the two interacted and felt his upper lip curl over his sharp fangs in a snarl at the two of them. Was it jealousy? No! It wasn't! It was... um... anger. He was angry the mare would go near the filly.

Again, he wanted to lash out and rip at the mare's pelt. He wanted to taste her blood and feel her fur between his teeth, but he didn't want to frighten the filly. "I have no feeling of compassion..." He growled/grumbled out to the mare, loud enough to where she would hear, but quiet enough to where the filly would probably miss it. His unicorn tail lashed wildly back and forth as he eyed the pure looking mare with glowing red eyes. He stamped his hoof at the ground, not liking what he was seeing with the two females.

Still smiling at the little one her ear twitched at the grumble the male made. She thought it somewhat cute, him being in denial of his compassion for the rainbow foal. She wasn't blind to see his anger towards her for just talking to the little one.

She took a few steps closer to the male with a slight smirk on her face, an expression she didn't often adorn. "Every creature holds the feeling of compassion. Though numbed in some, it's never completely gone. You can deny it, but I know it's there....so does she.", she said with a smile glancing back at the little one. "How else would you have become 'dad' to her. You can deny it all you want, I know what I see within.", the smirk slightly returned for a split second with a small giggle as she looked to the male and the rainbow of light that was the foal.
