It was a relatively hot day out, humid as well. Though a few smarter herla had found themselves hiding out in the woods. Where the sun couldn't bake them alive, and there a faint breeze blowing through the trunks.
One of those herla was a lovely blue delta, poking through the bushes and nosing around. Her wings moving lightly in the wind, shimmering with the remains of that mornings dew drops. Tail swishing back and forth in a calm manner. As if she was used to what ever it was that she was doing.
Azul was currently making her way though the deep forest, trying to find a path she had yet to take. Trying to find the scent of a male she'd yet to find in this place. Wondering if she should leave this herd soon, in search for another one, in search for him... But at the same time, wanting to just stay. She'd been searching for so long... She missed being in one place, missed having to not make new friends, most of all though, she missed her family.
She sighed to herself as she continued in and out of trees. She caught a familiar scent after a while and wondered what Chesh was doing way out here? Looking around she found that she couldn't see him lying anywhere... Where was he she wondered.
Taking a few more steps and raising her nose to air she saw a familiar striped tail. Smiling to herself she reached up on her back two hooves and tried to get herself up into the air slightly, grabbing hold of his tail and yanking it once. Giggling all the while as if she was about to get caught doing something bad. She hoped it wasn't too rude of an awakening....

Earlier in the day, Cheshire was, as usual, feeling lazy from the heat of the summer sun. He had found a perfectly good tree with a fairly low branch that he could easily hop into and does so. He hadn't bothered looking for friends this particular day because the heat was so unbearable to him, so a good nap would have to entertain him.
Upon Cheshire's long blue tail being bitten ad pulled on, he immediately fell off of his branch... and much to his dismay, right onto Azul! Cheshire sleepily looks at what he landed on and sees the familiar shade of blue of his dear friend. He instantly starts to freak the heck out, afraid that he may have hurt her or damaged her beautiful wings. He gets up and starts nudging her back to standing, using his tail to brush dirt off of her. "Sorry! Sorry! Are you okay? I hope you're okay! I shouldn't sleep in such low trees! Augh, I'm sorry, Azul!"
Cheshire continues to do circles around his friend, checking her over to make sure she's okay before he noses her neck gently, his way of saying 'Forgive me!' Giving her one last good look over, he stands beside her and speaks, "Uhm... Hi? How are you, despite... Being... fallen upon and such? I hope I didn't hurt you or your wings... You're too pretty to damage, even on accident! I won't forgive myself if you are."
Cheshire, being ever the chivalrous individual he is, feels extremely bad about this whole situation and blames himself for what happened and thus offers his services, "What can I do for you to make up for landing on your so harshly?"

Azul hadn't been expecting that in the least, but lucky enough for the both of them she'd pressed her wings together in shock, and turned just in the right way so that he didn't crush her wings, and instead he just fell down upon her. Though that didn't stop her from screaming out in surprise as he came crashing down upon her and she was pressed into the earth underneath him. The air rushing from her lungs as he did so.
When he is up and off of her she can't help but start to cough, trying to get the air back in her lungs. Gasping as she did so. She moved her self to her knees in a shaky manner. For being so easy to change his appearance he was not as light as she'd imagined. It took her a few moments to breath properly, but after a few moments she managed it alright. She coughed once, twice, three more times before she was certain that she was alright.
She looked up at him and nodded ehr head. "No... No. I'm alright. It was my fault. I was trying to sneak up on you. I'll think twice before I do that!" She said giving a weak laugh. Her chest hurt a bit, but she soon got her hooves. Standing alright. She looked over her shoulder and looked at her wings. "My wings are fine too." she told him in a reassuring manner.
She chuckled lightly and nuzzled Cheshire in a calming sort of a way. "Silencio por favor." She told him giving him a please stop talking sort of a look. A smile still on her face despite the fact she was certain that her ribs were bruised. "What are you doing sleeping all the way out here?" She asked curiously, trying to get him to think of something else.

Blinking, he cocks his head to the side as if the answer were obvious. "I'm a wanderer! I, er, wander. I don't have a path that I take. I just... Explore, I guess? I don't have a real home or herd to go to, so I just make do wherever I go... Oh, why would you be ou-- Oh right." he says, remembering what she had said about the long lost lover that she had. She was more than likely looking for him. Cheshire amused himself with a brief thought. If she were looking for her lover and found him instead, then... Naaah. he shook his head at himself for thinking such stupid things, which probably looks really odd to Azul since he'd be shaking his head randomly in her eyes.
"Plus," he continues, "I love sleeping in trees. Nice and shady and cool in there. The only better place would be under water... Unless I develop gills then it would in fact be a very long rest under there. I wish I had gills. That'd be nifty."
Oh how Cheshire's deluded mind wandered randomly as he did. He slips into a small daydream about how great having gills would be before he snaps himself back into the reality that is before him. "Erm... Sorry. My mind wanders too much... Are you sure you're fine? You still look pained." he says with a look of genuine concern for his friend.
"Well my offer still stands to help you with something. I owe you for the pain that I caused you. I won't accept 'nothing' as an answer... Besides, it could be fun. I like spending time with you. I've missed you since the last time at the river. And now I'm all healed up from my fight! Well, I have been for a while, but that's not the point." ending with a happy note, his tail flicking and coiling happily behind him.

Azul nodded her head when he gave that quick reply. It made sense after all~ and she smiled sheepishly when he began to ask her why she herself was out and about this far out from what seemed to be the herd of this place. Until he just randomly began to shake his head. And then she looked at him slightly quizzically, though to be honest the random head shaking didn't honestly seem to bother her though.
She perked slightly at the mention of gills and smiled widely. "Ah! I have met a hart, who has gills, and looks as though he is more fish than herla!" She said smiling at the thought of one of her many new friends. She wondered if Chesh really cared about the whole thing though, after all, she may have found it interesting but there was no telling whether or not he really found it interesting as well.
She watched him go off into another world for a few moments and she wondered how long he would be there... was he day dreaming? Or was he really just thinking so hard on something he'd completely forgotten that she was there? Either way... it was a bit amusing to watch until he came back to reality. "Oh... No... I'm fine." She told him though the entire time she had been standing still. She was more than certain that when she started walking again it was going to hurt her. "It only looks that way becuase it just happened." She lied nodding her head as if that would make it true, trying to wipe the expression from her face as she did so.
Azul tilted her head curiously, he'd missed her? How sweet of him. she gave a small smile and walked slowly around him trying not to wince as she did so, wanting to keep the pain and discomfort from the muscle pain out of her eyes. She looked him over to see that he was in fact free of fresh wounds. Wounds in general it seemed. She smiled a bit wider at him and reached out to nose him as she did so.
"Thank you Cheshire." She replied to him sweetly. "I enjoy your presence as well. But you don't owe me, I brought it on myself." She told him honestly. She looked around herself though and sighed lightly. "Soon I'll be leaving this place to continue my search. I've been here much longer than I should have..." She drifted off, now a slightly pained expression came to her face, but not from the pain of her bruised chest. "Maybe you could come searching with me?" She offered. If he too was in fact a wanderer.

Cheshire blinks, actually kind of stunned by her asking him to join. "... I... I was about to ask you if I could come along. Since I wander... You wander... We both wander... And you have something you need to do! And I can help. Or at least try to help. And... I don't really have... any attachments around here. I'd be more than happy to come along with you. Also, you're terrible at keeping injuries hidden. Well, everyone is. There's ALWAYS small tiny little telltale signs." Cheshire was actually very observant when he wasn't daydreaming. When his attention is on something, it's usually undivided. That's how he's such a successful hunter, stalker, and prankster.
Wanting to speak his concerns and suggestion, he continues, "Maybe... You should rest up a while before we get going? Unless you want to tough it out and takes breaks when you need to on the way? I hate to see you in pain, no matter who's fault it is." Affectionately, the concerned prankster carefully nuzzles Azul, not wanting to nuzzle a bruise or something.
Cheshire still blames himself a bit for the accident. More for the fact that his body did damage to hers and he's mostly unscathed except for a minor bruise on his shoulder. That just wasn't fair in his eyes. Not fair at all and that hurt him more than any fall could. He wished he had knowledge of something that could help her out... Then something snapped into his brain. That three legged one once told me about a powerful painkiller... Willowbark!
"... Or we could go get willowbark. It's a powerful painkiller, so I was told." Cheshire explains but then something else pops into his head. "Are there any willows near here? Since, y'know, trekking a long distance to get some would be a nice waste of time."

Azul hadn't thought of it as some big to do, it was simply smarter to travel in numbers. Especially now as she was getting a little bit older, true, she was no elder, but she was no young fawn either. She couldn't just run to safety or scream and expect others to come running to her side. "Plus Cheshire you make for interesting conversation and I'm fairly certain you'd do wonderful for providing some sort of protection..." She nodded her head at that thought. Though she hoped he didn't think that the fact she thought it would just be in her best interest to have him around was her only reason. Even if it was a very good one.
She frowned a little at that train of thought... Coupled with the fact that he seemed to know that she was lying through her teeth about her injuries. She'd always thought she was rather excellent about hiding such things.... She sighed thinking about that for a moment or two. The longer she rested in this place... the harder it would be to find him. The harder it would be to leave... she didn't want to leave. But at the same time... he wasn't there. And if he wasn't there, then she didn't want to be there either. Becuase with out him there and at her side... then what really did she have? Nothing. No one. She just wanted her Stuart.
Finally she shook her head. "I Am fine Cheshire. I just need a few minutes to walk it off, to get my muscles going. Just to take in a few deep breaths and I will be fine." She told him seriously. Not giving him any room to say otherwise.
But when he offered up the idea of willow bark her ears perked and she nodded her head. "Yes... there are a few... off to the right around here..." She started walking towards that direction. A but slower than what she would normally go. But she just needed to walk this off. To be alright with it all. It's not like it was anything too terribly awful. Nothing could keep her from him after all, or the thought of finding him.

"Protection?" Cheshire asks rhetorically, giving his tail a small flick as he escorts her to the willows, "I'm the best protection (an conversation ;D) that exists. I could simply hide you from any danger and it'll wander right past. Or I could add some scars to my body in your name. That would be noble." he finishes, nodding to himself more than anything.
Cheshire knows Azul better than to think she would only have him around for her benefit. He thinks way too highly of her. After all, they have spent a lengthy amount of time together at the river, which means a lot to him. He'd always wanted someone that would stick with him, if nothing more than the casual company. If he had to follow her around to keep that kind of company, he would gladly do so.
"So... You have never told me. His name I mean. I've been wondering. He must have one if you two made such a connection. A connection that I'm jealous of you for since I haven't made one myself yet, or that anyone has made of me.
Anydoodles, you said he was a traveler, yes? My guardian said that you have a better chance of meeting up with him if you stay in the same place rather than moving about all the time. He said it had something to do with... Fizz... Fizzicks. Something like that. And I quote, 'Any two objects that are both in movement have the least chance of meeting each other. However, if one stays idle, the chances of the other one meeting with it improve greatly.' end quote. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not trying to discourage your journey or anything. Whatever you want to do, or that makes you happiest, I'll help you out with all the way." Feeling that he's talked waaaaay too much, he silences himself and is on the lookout for willow trees to aid his friend he had fallen on.

"Noble but stupid~" Azul told him honestly, chuckling as she said it though and shaking her head. She'd be extremely cross with him if he got hurt for no good reason, especially if he could have just simply hid the both of them. She looked around, trying to keep her breathing even and looking for the willow bark... She as certain there was one of those trees some where around here... She chewed at her bottom lip at that thought. She shouldn't know where things are in this place... Becuase that means she's been here entirely too long... When she starts to know where certain things are, when she no longer feels like a stranger in the area... This was terrifying. She closed her eyes for a moment.
She ignored the first question he'd asked her for a moment and thought about the second part. She sighed and closed her eyes shaking her head after her moment of thought. "I can not just stay here Cheshire..." She started off. Almost uncertain of whether or not she should finish the statement or not. "I have dreams... Where I meet him. And it's always the same. Always near water... Sometimes the water changes, but it's always right at the edge..." She admitted as if that gave any sort of reasons for how she acts and behaves. A reason for why she was always so close to water. "But no matter where I go... I never find the water that has been in my dream. I think... My dream is trying to tell me something. Last night I dreamed that he was at a river that I've seen before. But from a long time ago..." She sighed. Trying to remember exactly where the river had been, but not being quite able to. Damn her old age.
She took in a frustrated breath and let it out in a huff. "I'm sorry~ just sometimes I get upset. That no matter how much I search, or how hard I try, I can't find him. Can't even get a hint of him." She admitted in a slightly defeated tone of voice. "Sometimes I'm terrified that one night... I'll go to sleep, and wake up the next day with out dreaming at all...."
Azul felt a tear or two well up in her eyes, and she quickly tried to push that back, looking up at the trees above her. "His name was Stuart." She started slowly. Her voice a bit shaky. "He was a singer in a traveling band... He was going to quit his band and grow old with me... And I love him."
She lowered her head, one or two tears falling down her cheek and looking at him. "But aren't I a sap?"

Cheshire seemed almost terrified at the result of the simple, or so he thought, question had brought upon his valued friend. Unsure of what to do, he takes a step towards Azul and then hesitates. Chesh was completely stumped about what he should do. Finally having made up his mind he walks in front of her and puts his nose under her chin to lift her head and looks concerned. "I'm sorry, Azul... I didn't mean to make you cry... But tears won't fix anything, I learned that a long time ago myself."
Just as the words leave his mouth he looks like he's about to cry himself, but Cheshire holds back, trying to be tough. "At least you can get your lover back, given time. You're determined. Your will is unbreakable. You will find him." he finishes, the tone in his voice sounding as if he can't do what Azul's doing. As if it were impossible. Unfortunately, it is. Cheshire looks like he's about to say more. He wants to share with her his experience as a fawn but doesn't want to sadden her more.
Moving back to her side, the ever-smiling hart gives her neck a brief, reassuring nuzzle as he doesn't want to overstep his bounds or make an uncomfortable environment. "See. There you go. You know he'll be near rivers, or at least water. That'll be an easy search. Does he travel upstream or down? If we travel the opposite direction that he usually does, we have the best chance of finding him and fairly quickly I may add at that." Cheshire was again in his element with logic usage. His superb logic was aided by the fact that he genuinely wanted to help Azul find her long lost mate, despite being slightly disappointed that he couldn't have her himself.

Azul gave a bit of a strained smile, taking in a deep breath of air and trying to fight the tears. Though to be honest it was quite a shaky smile, as if it wasn't going to stay for very long. She pressed her head against his own and took in a deep breath before letting it out in one smooth thing. Her tail twitching slightly behind her, the very end with the most hair on it.
"Thank you Chesh." She murmured lightly to him before pulling away and letting him be beside her now. She wondered for a moment, how smart it was to become so familiar with Chesh. What if she was found by 2D at this very moment... what would he think?
She sighed trying to shake those thoughts from her head, certain that if she was to ever find D again, or if he was to ever find her. That they would both know just how deeply and truly they loved each other. And just how long the two of them had been searching for each other.
She smiled lightly at that thought. "You seem to be my pillar of strength." She admitted with a slight chuckle. Nodding her head along with his logic. "I'm sure with your help it will be that much easier to find him."

Cheshire is immensely satisfied with himself to be called Azul's pillar of strength. He had so bad wanted to do something for other herla that would help them out some way and now he had Azul to help, and for that we was glad. So glad that he smiled a genuine smile that didn't need to rely on other facial expressions to know the amount of happiness he held inside him.
"You can tell me later if you want, but... What does he look like? I mean, I can't (as much as I want to!) be at your side all of the time. If I see him and you're not around, I want to be able know it's him. Then I can drag him to you." Cheshire flicks his tail, a look of complete determination comes over him. His chest is puffed out and his head is looking up, tail rigid, but very slightly swaying.
Cheshire then pauses in thought for a second and randomly crawls underneath Azul and back up without touching her, he gets close to her face with a look of excitement. "Then I can spread the word that his hart is needed for something special. I've at least a few friends that could keep a passive eye out for him. At the very least if we hear something we'll know what direction he is going from where." he settles down, putting some space between him and Azul, not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable around him.

Azul nodded her head smiling brightly. Why hadn't she ever thought of that before? Probably becuase she'd never talked about her beloved Stuart with anyone before... She chuckled lightly at the thought of Cheshire dragging Stuart to him... She imagined the look of surprise and confusion he would have on his face... Until he saw her there. And then the confusion would fade away into a look of relief at having finally found her, and they would walk off together into the sunrise together at last. She gave an inward giggle at that thought... How nice would that be... Though of course she acknowledged that it probably wasn't going to happen that way at all.
And then he crawled under her. O8 what? She let out an infectious giggle at the action and the way he spoke. She leaned forward pressing her own forehead against his, still smiling widely. "You my dear Hart Chesh~ are an odd thing~" She teased, pressing her nose tip against his own.
When he moved she moved into him a bit, pressing her hip against him to bump him playfully. "I don't mind telling you what he looks like. Though after I do you might not find hinds as attractive anymore~" She teased picturing Stuart in her head. She'd done this so many times before, now of course she pictured him as an adult, rather than as a young yearling with legs bigger then he could handle.
She smiled widely and closed her eyes. "He's very handsome~ With long legs and a wonderful pelt~ Blues and green~ and his hair is dashing too~ Cut short, spiky. But longer then yours~ maybe... about the length of my bangs." She added nodding her head to herself. "He had amazing antlers~ big for our age. More developed then most~ you could tell they would grow into something amazing that all the others would be envious of~" She added on giggling. Going back to her child hood~ and remembering how all the girls would giggle over his antlers~ and her being in awe at how big they seemed to get over the small time period. "But the thing I remember best~ that I loved most about his looks, were his eyes. A stunning~ startling blue. Deeper then the ocean~ and a color clearer then any water I've ever seen~" Her eyes got misty for a minute, remembering it all. God~ he was a handsome mate.
She shook her head after that thought. "I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't already found another..." She told him honestly sighing and leaning her head against Chesh's shoulder. "I really hope he hasn't... I don't know what I would do with myself."

Cheshire paid close attention to every detail that she gave him about Stuart, nodding his head intermittently. He makes doubly sure he commits all of this to memory, just in case he actually does run into Stuart randomly out there in the world.
"Okay! I got it! I'll know him when I see him, I'm sure. ... Hey. Hey now. None of that talk. I won't have it. No sadness. This is a journey of awesomeness, to find him. He'll be looking for you too, I'm sure of it. He undoubtedly loves you too and has feelings for none but you. If, by some weird reason he does, I'll kick his butt and make him dump the other hind." Cheshire nods firmly, flicking his tail so hard that the air cracks lightly from the sudden movement.
Now the odd herla actually starts to look around, he finally notices the damnable willow tree that was no twenty feet away. He just stares at it, wondering how the bloody hell he could have missed it. Just stare. Stare. STARE. A solid minute rolls by before he says anything...
"I think I found the willow tree." he says plainly and to the point, turning to her with a rather silly expression on his face.

Azul smiled at his certainty. It was definitely nice to be reassured like that; he almost reminded her of one of her brothers; she was certain he too would have threatened the same thing. That he would have dragged any male that broke his sisters heart back to their herd and make him choose her instead. She laughed softly and poked out her nose to thank him. "You know just what to say to make a girl smile~" She told him; obviously grateful yo have him around.
When he looked around so did she; and when he stared at the Willow tree; she too turned her head to look at it. "Oh~" She said in a happy little noise. Moving slowly over towards the tree, leaving his side while he was still paying attention to it. Making her way slowly towards it; by the time he said that; she was already at the tree though; and looking it over for any loose pieces of bark that she could find.
"Help me tear a peice off?" She asked turning her head a little to look at him.
