I have just purchased my first set, the combaticons and Bombshock. Personally, I am mildly impressed with them, and call the unified version "Bruticus Minor." Still, I have heard some negative buzz online, and am curious what my fellow guildmates feel about them.

I'd rather the Limbs didn't have faction crest on them. And what the heck is the point of even the mini-con having Mini-con ports on them.
This minor notes asides I think their pretty neat. I have the five 2 pack and the two five packs.
The only big downside to these guys is although they are nice, none of the molds are interesting enough that I'd buy them repainted.

I wasn't aware that they had those out. The stores near my place only have the unwanted remains of the ROTF phase. sad

I know the feeling about remnants . . . My local store still hasn't even gotten a hold of Mindwipe yet. I ended up going into a K-Mart in the next town on a whim. I call it "Toy Hell" because I find the toys that nobody wants there for about 15% more than they were when they first came out . . . and lo- there was the PCCs and Mindwipe!
Of course, my local Walmart is going to get the WfC Prime and BB next week, possibly more PCCs as well.
---------------------------------------------------------
I could care less about the faction symbols on the drones, given they are only drones. Without personality you could put whatever you want on them, and that is how I see em. Bombshock put a Decepticon insignia on them just out of pride.
I was wondering about the sheer plethora of minicon male ports myself . . . they must have a purpose, something bigger planned. Thus far, I have not noticed any minicon female ports, so I wonder what they are up to.

It's possible they're going the Metroplex route and they want you to use older Mini-cons as armors for the Gestaults, but why put male mini-con ports on the Mini-cons that come with the guys.

I think I have figured it out. The deluxe models feature triple-changer minicons. Bot mode, weapon mode, and vehicle weapon mode . . . I believe what is intended is a great deal of customization for using that third mode even on larger gestalts. That way, despite poor posability, one could make Huffer the core of the combaticons, and still use Huffer's partner as a vehicle weapon on an arm or something.

That only explains the drones, not the mini-con.

Oh? Do the minicon partners have male ports as well? eek I've only noticed the female connectors on the minicon partners.

Each Minicon(that's come in a two pack) has both male and female ports. If they were placed differently I'd buy the excuse that they're gun handles, but the placements do fit that theory.

Lastnight I picked up Chopster and Smoulder, and looked for your example. No male minicon port was to be found, only a female one. Several male ports are on Smoulder, and both have a purpose. At first, I had thought that the handle on Chopster was a male port, but nay- only a handle. Thus I am confused . . . which minicon did you see a male port on?

I looked at my Choppster, and yes you're right he doesn't have any male ports. Funny that you would get the one exception to the rules. Looking at the other four they each have atleast one male.

Today, I opened my second 2-pack of Huffer and Caliburst. Seems he made up for Chopster's "omission" by having two male ports. I still hold to the idea that it is for additional weapons/minicons to be added to the gestalt form. The two on Caliburst are easily accessable when put into "Armor Powerup" mode.
I also have come to an odd realization . . . the 5 packs suffer from mediocrity in overall look as if in pleas to mix with singles. DoubleClutch is a disappointment on almost every level, and yet his Rallybots are not much better on him. When added to Huffer in gestalt form however, it works. The black and soft yellow seems to compliment the Rallybot drones better than the baby blue of doublesuck.
Similarly, Mudslinger and his Destructicons are alright in overall look as a gestalt. Now, I have few complaints on Mudslinger- the only glaring one being his gestalt head having goofy as blazes earflaps going on. Also, the lime green of the team leader does not mesh well with the team aesthetic. On a whim, I added the set to Smolder . . . and win! The overall red of Smolder works well with the red of the armored junker and armored truck drones. The white of Smolder's "Fire" decal works well with the heavy hauler and dune buggy drones. Not to mention that the gestalt head for Smolder doesn't look so slagging stupid. . . .
It seems that aesthetically they beg to be interchanged.

The quality of the 5 pack bots differs from the "additional" torso bots. With the exception of the wave full of 5-pack recolors. On a whole, I'm not really interested with the Powercore combiner sets.. If they were going to make combiners, they should have just tried actually making multiple robot combinations. I mean, I thought when they did it with Energon it was pretty successful. If they want to take active suggestions, look at what Fansproject is doing with the Bruticus and Superion add-ons. But what I see so far.. eh. I'm bothered by the erector-set-like limbs of the drones. The torso figures each remind me of the scout class bots of Cybertron and Movieverse in terms of complexity and size. *shrug*

As "combiners", they fail. Miserably.
But as figures with common interchangeable accessories, they are fantastic. And they pull off the "drone upgrade" gimmick MUCH better than Energon Prime. I'd go as far as saying they're what Actionmasters SHOULD have been.

i like the main bodys so far
the drons leaves much to be desired. dont care much for the auto transforming on the arms they could have had joints and realish hands.
