The tower sits on the fringe of town, opposite the school. It only looks deserted and small on the outside, but is considerably larger on the inside, thanks to a pocket dimension that just happens to exist within the tower, making it an ideal shelter, for those who know how to enter it. Rygear has been threading together hundreds of wards and enchantments for the year he's lived there, fortifying the tower against attacks and unwanted guests.
There are four levels to the tower, though Rygear will only tell you that there are three; The Living Room/Kitchen, the Bedrooms, the Upper laboratory, and the Lower Laboratory. Stairs spiral around the inside, hugging the wall tightly and curving with it.
The Living Room/Kitchen area is a stone room where almost every available surface is covered with something that doesn't match it's neighbors; the floors have been covered with rugs of various colors and textures, and sofas have been placed around the main area that sits before the fireplace. Small side tables separate each couch, where a candle holder sits. Shelves filled to breaking with books and small trinkets line the circular walls, separated only by the fireplace, the stairs, and the kitchen. The kitchenette takes up a small wedge of space in the room, where there is a pantry, a cabinet, an ice box, and a small wood-burning stove. Candles sit precariously on stands all around the room.
The Bedrooms on the second floor are small, wood-walled spaces, with a simple wood frame bed, a nightstand, a dresser, and candles on wall brackets, with one in a holder for walking with. There are four such rooms, with a single corridor running down the center of them. At the far end is a fairly modern bathroom, complete with a curtained shower.
The Upper Laboratory is where Rygear does most of his work. The walls are all covered with shelves filled with most every imaginable container, all filled with raw material and ingredient, from honey to octopus ink. Books are jammed everywhere possible on these shelves. More books, papers, notebooks, pens, pencils, etc... litter an enormous central table. In one corner, there is a huge mirror that has been veiled with a heavy purple velvet curtain, wrapped securely with a black chain and locked with a padlock that has no keyhole. one floorspace is devoid of clutter, where a three foot, silver pentagram has been inlaid in the floor, with a circle of silver both around it and inside it.
The Lower Laboratory is in the secret basement that Rygear has. He doesn't tell anyone about it, because he performs his more dangerous work there. The only way in or out is a drop-down ladder from a hidden opening in the living room. The room is similar to the upper laboratory, except there are only a few bookcases arranged into a five pointed star. Each case has tomes specifically for one part of the five parts of magic:fire, water, wind, earth, and spirit. Five large mirrors have been mounted between the bookcases, all facing the center of the room. A seven foot copper circle is inlaid in the floor, with a second of silver, five feet long, inside that, and a three foot golden one at the very center.
