The easy to follow guide around Gaia. I have started this guide as a way of helping new users around the forums. To be brief, this is a rough summary of what happens in certain forums, and the general does and don't s of Gaia and it's information that has been gathered from all over the place.
Anyone is free to use it, it'll also help a little in finding certain things around the site. Please excuse the overuse of exclamation points in the guide.

General rules of Gaia
1- Follow the Gaia Terms of Service. Or T.o.S. for short.
2- Be literate. (considered to be the ability to read and write, or the ability to use language to read, write, listen, and speak)
3- Reading the whole front page. (Usually of a large or permanent thread)
4- Be polite. This includes saying please and thank-you to people for various reasons.
5- No God-modding. This can offend many people. Please keep any and all impromptu roll-playing realistic to you, and your avi.
6- Follow the rules of whichever thread your in. These are the rules the owner/creator of the thread has given you, and they must be followed to the dot.
7- Follow the forum rules, these are set by Gaia staff and administrators to help run Gaia smoother.
Definitions of some terms on Gaia:
1- Bump; Bring Up My post
This is usually done with the word "Bump" or an emoticon such as " ninja " or " pirate "
2- LMP; Lowest Market Price
This term is usually only used in The Gaia Exchange Forum, though you may encounter it elsewhere.
3- AMP; Average Market Price
See "LMP"
4 - GC - Gaia Cash. This is purchased with real money, either by buying a cash card at a store, or with your paypal account; however, you will usually get a free item if you purchase a card. With GC you can buy premium items such as RIGs, MCs, EIs, and special holiday items. You can also buy gold shop items with cash. You cannot buy items in the marketplace with GC, nor can it be traded between users. To get cash for free, you can complete some surveys here.
NOTE: These offers will link you to other sites. Be careful about viruses when doing some of these offers. Even clean ones may ask you for personal information, and spam your e-mail address with advertisements. Furthermore, some of the offers claim to be free but will require you to purchase one of their products before you receive your cash. Watch out for scams, and make sure you get the cash you are promised when you do them. The Survey of the Day offers seem to be the best option.
5 - RIG; Random Item Generator. These come from the cash shop and will grant you an item when you use it. Some of them are pretty pricey! RIGs are officially called CIs, but you're more likely to see them called RIGs in the forums.
6 - EI; Evolving Item. These are cash items that begin with a few poses, and more are added over time. When it evolves, you lose the first poses from it and gain new ones. A new generation with the initial poses becomes available in the cash shop. As a rule of thumb, EI's worth 999GC will evolve every two weeks, EI's worth 749GC will evolve every three weeks, and EI's worth 499GC and under will evolve once a month.
7 - REI; Rapid Evolving Item - Same as above, except it evolves more than once a week, and when new poses are added, you don't lose the old ones.
8 - MC; Monthly Collectible. These are "letters" that remain closed until the 15th each month. When they open, you will get one of two items. They are also called Donation Items or Sealed Envelopes.

Things to do around Gaia: Around Gaia there are many activities in which one may participate.
Posting in the Gaia Forums is a popular choice. You can meet new people and make friends. The forums open up many choices in what you can do. One can draw peoples avatars, post randomly for gold, or take place in the Gaia Exchange to test if they have what it takes to make gold.
Playing one of our many Games is another way to make gold, meet new people and chat quicker.
Gaia has several virtual worlds to hang out in. You can race against other users in Rally, chat and collect bugs in Towns, or live it up like a celebrity in Virtual Hollywood. If none of those are your thing, you can hang out in the Forest Stage and learn about how to protect the environment, or meet up with some friends in VJ to watch some movies. There's always a sponsor world up and running, right now the Skintimate Sweet Suite (where you can nab a free item!) and the Coca-Cola Polar Paradise are active!
Booty Grab is the quickest way to earn gold! Find some tanks in the Aquarium Forum, or go here to play with some guild member's tanks!
If none of those games satisfy your taste for adventure, you can try zOMG! Battle monsters with your friends while you make tons of gold!
Finally, don't forget to play Daily Chance! It appears on each of the landing pages (Home, My Gaia, Shops, Forums, World, Games) in the top right corner. It's a great way to get tokens for the games!

A brief history on some forums: Chatterbox Vs. General Discussion
Commonly there has been known to be a rivalry between the General Discussion forum, and the Chatterbox forum. Nobody is too sure where this rivalry started, or what fuels it to this day other than the fact that is has been there forever.
The Gaia Exchange
Though there is little to talk about here, this is the location many choose to make money. Often by buying and selling items for profit. Or by visiting the charity forums in hopes for a lucky break. This is often the only location one can find items from the year Gaia was created.
Mini Shops
While some choose to exchange items to make gold, many still choose to use their hands. This forum is home of many artists who sell their time drawing for Gaia gold, or items of value. Some works of art are sold for as little as 200 gold. Where other yet are sold for millions of gold. It all depends on who is willing to pay what.

Gaia's StaffIn this section we'll introduce you to the hierarchy of Gaia staff.
Important People
These are Gaia's head honchos.
Lanzer is Gaia's creator. He, along with L0cke and VO, founded Gaia seven years ago in their living room. He updates his journal pretty regularly with all sorts of upcoming goodies, so check it out every now and then! You can also find him in the Ask the Admin threads in the GCD every Monday night at around 5pm Pacific time.
muumuupie is Gaia's CEO. He used to be COO, but was recently promoted. Better known as Mike Sego.

These are the guys who make all the items and draw the enemies and environments in zOMG! They have brown names.

Jak Bauer
Moderators
Mods move threads, handle hackings, and banninate people who violate the ToS. You can view the mods from any forum by clicking the "view forum moderators" link, but here's a basic overview of the different kinds of mods.
Omni Mods handle account security, deal with hackers and scammers, and train the other mods. They have green names.
Global Mods handle abuse & harassment cases and deal with ToS violations. They have green names
Site Mods are very similar to Global mods, except they work in a specific are of the site, such as forums or the flash worlds. They have green names.
Forum Assistants move topics in specific forums and don't deal with ToS violations. They have pink names.
Fun Facts about the Staff!

L0cke and Ling are also married!
Derlaine is one of the most versatile members of the staff. She is both an artist AND a developer!
