The Common Raven (Corvus corax), also known as the Northern Raven, is a large, all-black passerine bird. Found across the northern hemisphere, it is the most widely distributed of all corvids. There are at least eight subspecies with little variation in appearance— although recent research has demonstrated significant genetic differences among populations from various regions. It is one of the two largest corvids, alongside the Thick-billed Raven, and is possibly the heaviest passerine bird; at maturity, the Common Raven is between 56 and 69 cm (22 to 27 inches) in length, with recorded weights ranging from 0.69 to 1.63 kg (1.5 to 3.6 pounds). Common Ravens typically live about 10 to 15 years in the wild, although lifespans of up to 40 years have been recorded. Young birds may travel in flocks, but later mate for life, with each mated pair defending a territory.
The Common Raven has coexisted with humans for thousands of years and in some areas has been so numerous that it is considered a pest. Part of its success comes from its omnivorous diet; Common Ravens are extremely versatile and opportunistic in finding sources of nutrition feeding on carrion, insects, cereal grains, berries, fruit, small animals, and food waste.
Some remarkable feats of problem-solving have been observed in the species, leading to the belief that it is highly intelligent. Over the centuries, it has been the subject of mythology, folklore, art and literature. In many indigenous cultures, including those of Scandinavia, ancient Ireland and Wales, Bhutan, the northwest coast of North America, Siberia and northeast Asia, the Common Raven has been revered as a spiritual figure or god.

|| Intelligent ||
Like the bird he is, young Corvinus Corax is very, very intelligent. Like the avian species, he's capable of great feats of Mathematics and incredibly accurate levels of mimicry. He learns at great rates, and loves taking leaps and bounds over his other classmates. Rae often just likes to dangle what he knows over another, with a tendency to play around the others. He enjoys the games that his intelligence can allow, and the freedom he thinks it gives him. Thinks, being the operative word. He takes more liberties than one of his age should, quite truly, and often will find it landing him in massive amounts of trouble.
|| Selfish ||
He has a tendency to think the world is his. Anything shiny, or anything he likes, he will simply take without a second thought. As far as he's concerned, the things everyone else considers off limits are his for the taking, especially when it comes to personal effects. He enjoys the idea of everything belonging to him, he really does, and lives his life accordingly. Though he'll never really claim another person, any object is his. His and only his.
|| Cunning ||
In addition to his intelligence, he's quick on his feet. Raven's been able to think his way out of many situations that would have otherwise landed him in much trouble. He's able to be silvery-tongued, with the ability to play emotions when he must. Normally, he's a rude little thing, but the ability to adapt to certain situations that would elsewise require different behavioral patterns. It's much like his ability of mimicry, as he seems to think it quite fun to get others to like him.
|| Cold ||
Even with the ability to mimic it though, there's no denying the colder nature of this creature. He's no interests in most people, they feel so….wrong to him. Why should he go all out to impress anyone? Why should he even bother with them, if they won't end up being worth his time? At least…that's how he sees it. His whole life, he's gone without worrying too terribly much about how his own distance effects others.
|| Egotistical ||
And then there is is vision of himself. He's proud of his appearance, his hair, his wings, his eyes. He believes that his avian nature is something to have pride in. Feathers are a matter of pride, especially his wing feathers. He takes so much time preening them it might as well be his hair or something of that nature.
