I've been watching the World Cup from the start, so Paul the Octopus doesn't come as news to me. I've been following his predictions ever since he picked Serbia to beat Germany, which then did happen. And so far he's predicted all the matches between Germany and some other country correctly, even Wednesday's match between Germany and Spain, which Spain won. Most people I know, who watch the Cup had their bets on Germany winning, but I told them Paul had predicted Spain (my favourite) to win, and they were saying it's nonsense, that an octopus can't predict stuff like that... until Spain won. xd

Well, Paul says that Germany wins tomorrow and that Spain gets the Cup on Sunday.
I only hope this German victory will save his life - some people aim to eat him!

Maybe then, I could get his awesome powers.

Octopus. Reminds me of back when I was younger and my dad insisted on having cable TV. I was flipping through channels and this Travel Sick show was on, and the dude was over somewhere in Asia, I forget where exactly, but they liked to eat live squid. So he tried to eat one, and it fought him until he gave up, it would just attach itself to his face. It was pretty hilarious.

Which is a pity. They shouldn't have even advance from their group... But oh well, in semifinals and finals they played better.

Pfft. talk2hand I know Spain didn't play very well at the start and they've never been too good on the World Cup level, so I think it was nice to see them advance right to the end. And when they beat Germany in a very intense game, I knew they'd have a chance of winning the whole thing. I wouldn't have minded Holland winning though, since they've never won the World Cup either and they've been playing very well from the start. Better luck for them next time in 4 years.

Well, me thinks it was Germany who lost against Spain (they stopped playing like they did in previous games) rather than Spain actually winning it. But of course, since semifinals they deserved to win it all - they took the chances their opponents gave them.

I don't really follow the sport much, but just a brief glance at the scores in earlier games sure made Germany look like the powerhouse team. Thus, from my mostly uninformed position I will agree with your assessment.
