... or have the free items gotten better recently? Comparing those stupid Sour Patch items to the Toy Story and Alice in Wonderland... now they're actually kind of useable, yes?

I think the general quality is going up, but the usability is still limited. The blue tail given out a while back could be useful if you were making a blue avatar and it doesn't look too bad, and it was free- these items are of the same quality, but they're only as useful as you can personally make them when building.
But then, CERTAIN ITEMS (*cough*BEE SUIT*cough*) will never be useful.

They go in and out of phases. Like, the items will be good for a while and I'll be all happy~ and then they start to be less usable again. We're in a decent phase right now. I hope it keeps going for a while before it drops again.
