SPECIAL AIR SERVICE

(SAS members use the Infantry's Armory)

SAS forces are military units, usually light infantry, set up to be moved by aircraft and 'dropped' into battle. Thus they can be placed behind enemy lines, and have an ability to deploy almost anywhere with little warning. The formations are limited only by the number and size of their aircraft, so given enough capacity a huge force can appear "out of nowhere" in minutes, an action referred to as vertical envelopment.

Conversely, airborne forces typically lack the supplies and equipment for prolonged combat operations, and are therefore more suited for Assault operations than long-term occupation; furthermore, parachute operations are particularly sensitive to adverse weather conditions. Due to the limited range of helicopters and the limited number of troops that can be transported by them many countries retain Paratroopers as a valuable strategic asset.

Airborne forces can be divided into two categories:

  • Paratroopers — landed by parachute from aircraft,
  • Air assault troops or airmobile infantry — transported to the battle by helicopter or by aircraft.

The basic premise of the Airborne is that they can arrive with such speed that a coherent defense cannot be mounted against them for some time. It is assumed that this tactical advantage cannot be sustained for very long, so effective Airborne missions require the rapid advance of ground based troops in support. Another problem regularly faced by Airborne troops, is that they are usually defenseless while they descend. However, it is rather difficult to hit a moving target, especially a paratrooper because their movements while descending will be erratic and not in a straight line.

Airborne forces are generally composed of infantry, guns, and heavier weapons.

SAS Forces

:NOTICE:
You must have already passed basic Training in order to participate in SAS selection and training.

TRAINING

In order to begin training as a Paratrooper unit, you must first have successfully completed basic training. Basic Training is of course the standard for all opening positions in nearly every unit, and so simply making it into the Airforce application qualifies you for Paratrooper Training.

Paratrooper training is intended to provide the user with a more in depth look at basic grammar, spelling, and roleplaying rules. Paratrooper is also intended to provide a more advanced training in the Arts of Warfare, several kinds of weapons and what they are capable of, how to train, how to teach, how to be a distinct leader, methods of infiltration and spying, how weapons work, how to understand the basic ideas of weapons, how explosives work, realistic physical movements, and military structure in general. Paratrooper units are intended to be highly trained individuals with not only the ability to roleplay as an expert, but also to preform all forms of military activities successfully. Guerrilla warfare, Ambush tactics, basic medical training, over-all warfare tactics, and specific roles will be taught at a much higher level, and instead of being briefed over, will actually be taught. In correspondence with the training however, testing will be implemented, to make sure the soldier has learned all that is required.

In addition to this, weapons training, the ability to roleplay leaving a naval vessel and swimming, and the ability to incorporate various styles of naval training into infantry tactics is crucial to being in any Special Forces unit, this force in particular is dependent on pure amphibious infantry capabilities. Swimming, and the mechanics of swimming being infused into roleplay is an integral part of being in this Special Forces unit.

TESTING

In order to pass the Paratrooper training program, you must first being capable of expressing excellent grammar, spelling, and the fundamental understanding of the AMP. The User must also present a strong understanding of military operations, including details on weapons, Guerrilla Tactics, Normal Tactics, How to Train, and the basics of Marksmenship. Experience in a Foreign Language, computer programming, or any kind of external skill may also be used to enhance the users chance of becoming a Special Operative. As a set style, you will be expected to have read, understood, and be able to explain the following-
