"Order" is such a misleading word. For us, it usually means PIZZA PARTY WOOHOO!

It's time for another poll, this one relating to the official threads floating around the guild - specifically to the Benevolent Information Thread. Lorika says:

I'M NOT HAPPY WITH THE WAY THE BIT IS TURNING OUT.

...Well, that's a given, seeing as we're holding a poll about it...

I feel like it's gotten WAY too long and no one is going to bother reading it or checking for updates. So I'm thinking about a couple of options I'd like you guys to discuss:

1. Scrapping the daily updates which no one checks anyway and I always forget to update and instead going for the Twitter account.

2. Reformatting the homepage as planned with links to all the most important threads in the guild and the twitter.

3. PERHAPS creating a new subforum dedicated to information (effectively splitting Righteous Campaigns down by shifting the guides and stuff over, this would also cover guides for the sysv2, v1 may be archived) - this subforum would also contain guides for effective moderation when the guild grows.

4. ALTERNATIVELY, creating more topic-specific stickied threads within relevant forums. This however is something I'd been trying to avoid, as I often feel too many stickied threads can be overwhelming... but likewise, one massive comprehensive thread is also overwhelming. Which is better - one or two comprehensive or many specific? (In essence we're reopening this debate.

Basically, I feel like I was wrong in trying to include so much information in one place (see? I DO make mistakes!). If you also feel like we should split them back up, what would you like to see and where would you like to see it? E.g do you want a Welcome thread like most guilds have in the front forum?

Wow, lots of stuff to cover today. It seems like you guys really have your work cut out for you. Your opinions are of utmost importance and will help shape the future of guild administration, so please try and take a few moments to POST a response that will highlight all your ideas in addition to voting in the poll.

See you guys later!

lol I wanted to choose multiple ones 03o 3 and 4 seem like they are both good ideas to me. Of course links in the home page would help, so would a single forum where they can all be found. I know I hate jumping around from place to place for info.

I'm going to bring this up:

It would be nice to avoid too many specific threads/subforums, it has a tenancy to turn into This
...most of it is 1-3 posts basically saying 'we're working on this'

(you can all get to it, right?...Guilds are weird like that)

Welcome thread: good idea, but fairly useless if nobody comes to the Guild. Most of us know this stuff already (when's the last time we've had someone new show up?)

1: Sounds like a good idea for your workload...I actually didn't know/forgot that it updated semi-daily

2: I don't know, it would be nice to keep the BIT, but if that goes, that would work.

3: Seems like a good idea. RC doesn't seem too cluttered, but that's because I know what I'm looking for...new people might not and will think 'holy crap I have to read all of this!?!?'
Perhaps a locked subforum so that this sort of stuff won't end up happening, so it will remain 100% info?

4: See the above link for how THAT works out...I say ~1 comprehensive per forum/subforum, like we pretty much have
...of course, the skill guides should remain seperate. That's basic organization, like the Dewey Decimal System.

come to think of it, why not just make BIT into the grand information forum? That way, all the info is in one place, easy to find/keep track of, and a person can find stuff easier. After all, it's better to have the thread 'guild finance' than the post/section 'finance'...it would be cutting it a little fine though, we don't want a THAT

Addition (sorry)

I just realized, it'd hard to find our welcome thread. How is a complete newcomer to know that Acolytes of the Order/BIT is where to go first? I think confusion is one of the issues with newcomers not staying/posting

@Mab Yeees... that link is exactly why I want to avoid too many sticked posts. And I think putting important links on the home page will go a way towards solving the problem of new members not knowingw here to go.

And weirdly enough, we have had an influx of brand new members lately. I havent seem them post since, but we've had about three or four coming in to join the party o3o weird, huh?

well, one of 'em came in from a dying RP I was in...not too sure about the others though

I still think a clearly marked subforum should be made for all guides and beginners information though

oh look, GC's spell checker turned tendency into tenancy for me...how nice

Newbie subforum... now there's an idea. If you're going for that then that'd be an ideal place for the BIT. Would be a nice place to fit the introduction thread in, too. And maybe make it the place to post questions and stuff, seeing as the guide is there, and leave the Clam Ballot strictly for suggestions only?

The entire point of this exercise is to have them topic-specific XD
PostPosted: Sun Jun 20, 2010 7:33 am

well if it will help it won't be so bad, so long as you have links to those stickied threads in the right places then it won't be THAT intimidating.

I don't really see that many options though, unless you have a more creative idea that seems fine to me.
