It seems to me that Uber is just a excuse for people to use. I have noticed this for awhile, but hearing the Latias thing just upset me a bit to actually complain about it. Ubers are pokemon that are extremely strong, usually very strong, and hit very hard. Garchomp is a perfect example. It has amazing speed, and a high attack stat to boost, so if you were to face one in a battle and you lose, the opponent is cheating because he used an Uber. Frankly i find the whole Uber classification ridiculous, i can understand Legendaries. The whole point of pokemon is to raise a team, and become a awesome trainer( in my opinion, people have similar goals) So can you really say youre a good trainer, when all the truly strong and good pokemon are banned? Latias can be taken down extremely quickly, one hit from my Jirachi's Draco Meteor and game over. Anyway back on topic, once again i shall use Garchomp as an example. I will admit, Garchomp is a complete beast, but can be taken down with Ice Beam with one shot, i have done it with my Froslass. And then someone is going to mention that you have to add a pokemon on your team just to counter Garchomp, Tyranitar, ect. Well in all honesty you have to be prepared for a battle! Make a well rounded team and then see how it works, and if you lose start again! Im really just tired of people complaining about getting the butts kicked by a certain pokemon, its as if people are taking away all the good pokemon out, so then they can get easy wins! Ugh so frustrating, i honestly dont care how strong a pokemon is, they shouldnt be banned from play, because they are hard to beat, its Pokemon, its supposed to be a challenge! ( Legendaries excluded) Sorry just had to rant this is really getting on my nerves. People that complain, suck it up and get better! Once again sorry for ranting this just really makes me mad for some reason.

So can you really say youre a good trainer, when all the truly strong and good pokemon are banned? .

Your a good trainer if you don't use the pokemon who are already strong to begin with, say if you catch a Bidoof, barely anyone likes them because they're so weak. Raise it good, evolve it, EV train it, and once its strong enough it could beat Garchomp or Latias. If you could do that then your a good trainer.

I use them in my in game team(Bibbral sp) and I have some level of respect for mine. One alone took on the steel gym and part of another gym(ice). My D/P/Plat teams ingame had them on even aganst the E4. I might for fun want to ev train one to see what it could do.

We've had threads arguing this before. rolleyes Read the Garchomp and Latias threads, then get back to us.

Trust me Chomps are OP, as they are hard to kill and it was needed to carry a counter just for Chomp. Latias's stats are low enough without the Orb that it is not a threat.

You know why there are a lot more of physical attackers in the metagame?... because there is blissey... a sole pokémon can redefine the whole affin´ game...

Im sure that if you can see beyond your nose... you will get what I mean~

To put it simply, id two trainers of the same skill challenged each other. One use Ubers, and the other did not, the one with Ubers is more likely to win because of the statistic advantage. However, remove the Ubers and it is anyone's guess who will win. The useage of Ubers is just an unnecessary handicap. A pokemon of that power in the wrong hands can be devistating on many levels. I'd rather not go into all the details about why we have thrown Garchomp and latias into the Uber teir. Just realize that it was a very, very long conversation with people debating every possible pros and cons.

I think it is also safe to say you have not fought very many well trained ubers. If you were to every face one, I am sure you can see why we decided to do what we did.

Alright, its true thar Garchomp is an amazing pokemon and might be able to easily take down half a team, but i still dont like that fact that Latios is mot allowed. Im really against this Latios thing, because it is one of my favorites. It dosnt even seem like a huge threat in the metagame. On to Garchomp it is a complete glass cannon, if you could get a good dragon, or ice type move on it, its game over. Just another comment to show how beatable a Garchomp is.

Me and my friend had an arguement on who was better, his Garchomp or my Dragonite. So we went off and for about a month to raise and EV train the said pokemon from scratch. He Speed. And Attack ev trainer his, i Attack and Defence trained my Dragonite. We batyled and his Garchomp hit my Dragonite with Dragon Rush. My Dragonite survived, used Outrage, and it was game over. I just dislike the whole concept of Ubers. I know its there for a reason, but now I can't use my Latios, and it seriously upsets me.

There is a huge difference between Ubers and legendaries. I'm sure we all know what legendaries are, but Ubers are Pokemon whom are classified as unbalancingly powerful, not neccessarily in attacking but also some walls. Take Giratina and Lugia for example. Yes, most Ubers are legendaries, but that's just because the game creators gave some legends such high base stats that they are unbalancingly powerful. Others are complete failures in the Metagame. Take Regice and Gigas, for example. Regice fell into NU for whatever reason and Gigas is there due to its horrid ability. From what I get from your post, you think that instead of banning Ubers, we should only ban legendaries. How would you like facing a Wobbufet and Garchomp every battle? Yache berry will allow Chomp to survive Ice Beam, and Wobbufet guarantees a KO. Like the clauses, the Uber tier is there to create the need for skill, not luck or overpowered Pokemon, to win in the standard metagame.

Also to add to gamefreak's arguement, add sandstorm to a yache berry chomp. From this set up, (which is usually easy to set up with hippodown or tyranitar) not only do can you not 1HKO a garchomp, but now you have a 30% chance of missing your attack due to its sand veil ability meaning one attack can make the difference.

I understand why you don't like the concept of tiers. Especially the hang up some people have with rules and all. But honestly, do you really want to see the same pokemon used over and over again? I am already getting sick of the OU tier just because of that same reason. If there were no tiers, almost every other team would be sporting around Arceas, Rayquaza, and Lugia. The uber tier does to begin with.

I also understand how much you love your Latios, but personal experiences and ties are not good grounds to constitute dropping pokemon in tiers.

Because I really don't want to go too far into depth about the reason why they both are considered uber (mainly because we had this discussion before in great detail) Here are the links. As pointed out in one of the links, if Latias doesn't hardly have a chance to be dropped back to OU, what chance does it offensive counter part Latios have?

Generally speaking, Latias is one of those Pokemon that is too powerful for OU and too weak for Ubers. However, seeing how it over centralizes the tier most commonly used (OU), I honestly felt this was the right decision that Smogon has made (finally) and am glad it finally followed suit with something we decided on a long time ago (back in August of 2009). We felt it good reason to refuse Latias from getting out of the Uber tier from the get-go.

Edit: Okay... with risk of sounding a bit like an a-hole, here we go.

Frankly i find the whole Uber classification ridiculous, i can understand Legendaries.

If that is what you truely believe, then I honestly weep for your ignorance. I hope you do realize that Latias is a legendary Pokemon as well, thus this wishy-washy statement alone kills your own argument.

Your damn right I feel like a better trainer for not resorting to using the most highly powered Pokemon in the game. I have strategic skill and don't need to hide behind statistically superior beasts to prove my worth. Even more so when I crush you (or anyone else) while your using ubers.

You obviously don't understand how over centralized such a Pokemon as Garchomp can become. It's hardly fun to see every team consist of one spot JUST to counter Garchomp, in most cases, that being Weavile or even Scarf'd Salamence with Draco Meteor in the case of YacheChomp (though even those are proven useless in a Sandstorm thanks to Chomp's Sand Veil ability). It's not so much that people complain about losing, it's the complaint of the elimination of a wide range of Pokemon from being used because said Pokemon is allowed to be used (and thus is used) by at least 95% of everyone you battle. And I can assure you, you are looking at it the wrong way. With Garchomp on your team, your more likely to be guaranteed easy wins, not the other way around.

Your right, Pokemon should be a challenge, so perhaps you should look at the challenge that has been laid before you, try and become a good trainer WITHOUT the CRUTCH of Uber Pokemon and quit complaining because your life isn't made easier without your precious Latias.

If you want to use ubers then be my guest, I don't play in tournaments, I just battle because I love to battle, if I face an uber I just do my best, if I lose then I lose, nothing can change that. I say we let people use whatever they want, and if you don't want to battle ubers then don't battle them, that's about the only way to let them know how bad ubers can be, give them few weeks of people not battling them and they'll stop using ubers.

people hate wubafet cuz hes awsome at counters....but there is ways to counter hes attacks its useing mind games...for instanse
dragonite has great attack...used for fire punch ect....
use flame thrower and not fire punch and they cant counter it and give dragonite a focus band so next turn use fly((to dodge destiny bond))....and if you do get countered you will still live razz
