The Solarie Tribe

Note: This Tribe is *supposed* to be similar-ish to Lunarie, as they are opposites (hence the similar name). I have cleared this with Rea (pfft, she helped me come up with more than 1/2 of this stuff xD), so...yea. :3

On that note, OPEN for RPing~!

About

The Solarie Tribe is, by a vast majority, diurnal, meaning the tribe operates during the day and sleeps during the night. Of course, there are those who prefer the dark, but even they cannot completely fight their biological clocks. Solarie believes that without the sun, all life could not exist, so when the sun is out is when all the important things happen: ceremonies, burials and mating celebrations, naming ceremonies and different types of sacrifices.

Sunrise is considered the most holy of times, and are usually reserved for praying to the Sun Deity, or very special ceremonies, while sunset is a time for quiet reflection on the day or more grave, 'political' matters. The sun is a symbol of power and brightness, of course, so the most dreaded and worst day for the Solarie tribe would be a day or days that involve a solar eclipse--when the sun is eclipsed by the moon. Some even say that if this happens more than once in any fox's lifetime and that fox witnesses it, that fox is destined to have an unlucky life.

As a general rule, foxes sleep and live their lives within the oasis that contains the Tribe, but it is not unusual at all for foxes to venture outside of the border and explore the scorching desert. Because the foxes of Solarie worship both the Sun God and the Oasis Goddess (Solarus and Miraja, respectively), it is believed The Oasis has a blessing to keep the foxes there safe, while the Sun God has cast protection upon the Tribe so they do not suffer nor die from the intense heat of the desert.

Pups are celebrated in the tribe and allowed to have their kithood, but excessive playing around or ignoring of one's duties is not tolerated for long. The desert is a harsh and treacherous place to live, and one cannot survive it if one doesn't learn. Survival mechanisms are stressed, but as is mental acuity: sunlight is not the only sort of brightness. Foxes need to be quick on their feet to make a life for themselves, no matter what their specific job within the tribe.

The Solarie Tribe, as a general rule, is fairly easy-going, but blatant affronts to either of their major Gods (whether it be disrespect, worshipping another 'Deity or refusing something the Elder has told them to do, for their Deities have the ability to speak through the Elder or even Shaman) will result in, at the very least, a hearing of the highest ranking members and quite a lot of praying on the part of the Elder (and the accused, if they truly wish forgiveness), or, at the most, flat out removal from the Tribe, which involves removing the signifying marking (whether it be tattoo or piercing), which the foxes of Solarie believe is the connection to the blessings of their Deities. The fox in question would then be escorted to the edge of The Oasis and not be allowed to return.

In keeping with their rather easy-going nature, the foxes of Solarie should never be first to attack, but when they do, they do not waste energy on meaningless or ineffective attacks. All foxes are trained in the art of self-defense, most of which is taught during kit-hood through supervised play-wrestling.

The only set feature of the Solarie Tribe is The Oasis, which has the curious habit of always being big enough, no matter how many foxes join or leave the Tribe itself--another blessing from Miraja. Once past the beautiful blue spring, the grove of trees and the soft grass, all that is out there is desert, for miles in any direction, as far as anyone can tell, though exploring is definitely encouraged.

History

Conundrum, once proud Elder of fledgling Enigma Tribe, was walking alone, aimless and lost throughout tribe and not-tribe, barely conscious of where he was going or what he was doing. He just needed to get...away. Far away. He missed his family, his Tribe, his friends. He had never felt so...hopeless in his entire life.

The great Elder had been felled. At least, that's what he hoped was happening, when he found himself on the floor of the sandy, barren desert, staring at the stark blue sky that collided blindingly with the yellow ground. But then, no, he felt invisible hands wrapping a...something...around his leg, he felt the strength return to his limbs, he felt his mental prowess returning. What was going on?

Conundrum spotted a patch of green in the distance. A mirage, Conundrum's mind told him, but something else, something more powerful was propelling him to that little patch of green. He had no choice; he had to investigate.

It took him far less time to get there than he thought, but the truly stunning part was that it wasn't a figment of his imagination: the water was real, cool and so refreshing against his dry throat, his aching feet. The trees provided real, welcoming shade, and the tiny creatures that had claimed that random little haven as a home really did satisfy his hungry belly.

That night, Conundrum, ex-Elder of Enigma Tribe, had a vision in his sleep. A new Tribe would be formed, in honor of the two 'Deities that had saved his life. The Tribe would be called Solarie and it would celebrate brightness, in whatever shape it came, but the most homage would be paid to the sun, in exchange for which the Sun God, Solarus, would offer Conundrum and any others that joined him protection against his deadly rays during the day and the comfort of warmth during the freezing desert nights.

Conundrum, unsure of this task, was given no choice, especially when Solarus' 'younger' sister spoke to him the following night: she was the one who had shown him his haven, so really, it was she who deserved all the prayers and sacrifices--but Conundrum had already been told what to do by Solarus, and even she could not overtly disobey him. All she asked was that Conundrum and any who followed him pay tribute to her as well--for which, the Oasis would never run dry, and should Solarus ever turn his back on them, there would always be a safe place for the Tribe to go.

Since of course he had no choice, Conundrum agreed to the specifications laid out by the two Deities. However, that was the last time to date either of them have spoken directly to them, and now, he spends his days lazing about The Oasis, more often than not asleep with his paws in the spring or his head hanging off a branch. Occasionally, he explores or hunts and gathers, but he always, always returns to the The Oasis every night. He doesn't know if this 'Tribe' the 'Deities spoke of will ever come to fruition, but he has no choice but to trust them.

Elder: Conundrum
Shamans: Unia
Gatherers: None Yet
Hunters:
Suna
Carers--Nurturers: Ate and Xiaoshi
Carers--Teachers: Furii and Rei
Scouts--Explorers: Kalevi
Scouts--Patrolfoxes:
Helios and Dawn
Tribe Guardians: Pyrite

Obviously, there are slight variations in the jobs as oppose to other Tribes in that there are more specifics:

'Nurturing' Carers take on the responsibility akin to parenting, both the good and the bad. Of course, the parents do their job, but the Carers are there for constant, sometimes forceful reinforcement--because the parents should be busy with their own jobs.

'Teaching' Carers are responsible for teaching the young kits the beliefs and ways of the Tribe, but they also observe the kits in their natural habitat and report to the Shaman and Elder if they think a kit is gifted in a certain area or hindered in some other. These Carers are the first to see the signs of what job would be best in the future for kits, and as such, they inform whoever has the job currently, and then that fox observes the kit as well, from a respectable distance so they do not affect how the kit acts. If the fox that has the job agrees with the Carer's assessment, the kit is started in more intense training for that job almost immediately.

'Patrolfox' Scouts stay within The Oasis at all times, usually making big arches all around the borders to make sure nobody is leaving or entering without permission; as such, their senses grow heightened and they grow more in-tune with the land around them.

'Exploratory' Scouts come and go as they please, constantly wandering the desert looking for new water or food sources, allies, or, better yet, new members, especially if the fox in question is hurt or lost. Because they spend so much time in the desert, away from The Oasis, Solarus gives these Scouts the ability to survive longer without food or even water without dying, and their fur tends to be thinner in accordance with the heat. Also, if they find something that they think could prove useful to the Tribe, they have charcoal-tipped sticks that they use to draw the Tribe tattoo somewhere on whatever it is, which serves as a duel purpose of both claiming the site and telling other Scouts that someone has already been that way. These Scouts are, generally, more solitary than Patrolfoxes.

Location

Map coming soon, but The Oasis is comprised of a relatively large underground spring-fed lake with grass and trees all around it, in varying sizes, but the shape is always relatively circular. Surrounding The Oasis is the desert, which varies from sandy to dry to both, which spreads out seemingly forever in all directions.

This is the Tribal Tattoo--it can be any color or any combination of colors, and it can be placed anywhere, so long as it is visible. The foxes of Solarie are strictly forbidden to get any markings or piercings involving the moon or shadows.

This is the Tribal Jewelry. It can be anywhere on the body, as long as it is visible--whether it be as a piercing, a necklace, a tailring, a bracelet, even a tiara or dangling off a corset would be acceptable. The only stipulation is that the stone in the middle must reflect something about The Oasis, color-wise, preferably in the green or blue families. The rays of the sun can be any color, but they are most typically white or yellow.
